My sister has early-onset dementia and has required care for the past five years. Her behaviour when she first went to Vicarage Farm was quite challenging, requiring several members of staff to care for her needs. Throughout her time there, my sister has always been treated with professionalism and
affection by the staff and it has been very reassuring to see my sister’s beaming smiles when given cuddles or having her hands stroked. While her needs have changed over time, the managers have always been open to suggestions about ways we could enrich her life, including allowing her family to take her on outings outside the home. When I visit, I am always welcomed warmly by staff, offered a drink and advised how my sister has been. I am regularly invited to events held at the home, which are very diverse and have enjoyed the food provided by the catering staff. The home has recently been completely refurbished and looks bright and welcoming. Thank you Vicarage Farm for all you do.

My father has been a resident for over a year, he has severe Alzheimer's. The home is well run, very organized and efficient. More importantly, the staff have an abundance of patience, compassion and are deeply caring for the residents. They build genuinely close relationships with the residents and
this is wonderful to see. My father has been very well looked after, he arrived underweight after a stay in hospital, they attended to his dietary needs and he soon gained weight. They kept him safe and over time he has grown to feel this is his home. I would recommend this home as a caring, professional establishment and I trust the quality of care provided.

My mother, who is in her late 70's has been here since early 2019 and suffers from multiple care issues.
The carers are friendly, always smiling and competent in the care they provide to my mum's needs.
Her room is a lovely size, where she has an ensuite and decent amount of furnishing and is clean.
The
food menu is a good choice and tasty and accommodates individual needs if needs be.
The level of service overall is really good, and there haven't been any major concerns. So all is well and happy to know my mum is in a good care/ nursing home.

Our Mother came to Vicarage Farm a couple of years ago following a stroke and onset of dementia.
We have been extremely happy with the care that she has received from all of the staff. She settled in really well, and we can tell that she feels at home there.
We like the fact that services are provided
to Mum, such as nail painting and a hairdressing salon. Whenever we visit Mum, the home is always clean and welcoming, and all of the staff are very friendly.

My mum was a resident for 2.5 years and in November she passed. The staff and management team were extremely supportive throughout this time. They all showed genuine concern and empathy for us as a family, coping with the loss of our Mum.
I will always remember the first-day Mum was taken there, and
talking to the care home manager, she promised me that Mum would be able to stay there they would keep her safe and care for her.
After experiencing two other homes where Mum was excluded for her behaviour, as you can imagine, I was slightly dubious as to whether this would happen. She kept her promise, Mum stayed there till her last day. Mum did eventually settle in, and the carers and nurses were amazing with her. Whenever I needed help with supporting Mum in the home, the management team were always there to help me, even to dealing with DOLLS or CCG, which can be a daunting experience. This nursing home is exceptional; they go above and beyond.

Visiting my dear friend intermittently over the last few years I've been deeply heartened by the empathy, warmth and true kindness I have encountered from the manager and all the carers I have met in the Vicarage care home. Whenever I have visited I have noticed that my friend is treated with great
gentleness - small touches of love and respect and whispers of help and kindness. All residents deserve the greatest of respect from their carers. Alzheimer's is one of the most tragic and horrifying ways to die but the staff in this home all try their hardest to give dignity and respect to everyone. As a friend - I too have received only warmth and positivity from the staff. I would like to thank everyone for their wonderful good nature, ability to relate well to people and the intuitive understanding of what vulnerable people need. You have all made a deeply dark and difficult situation lighter and more bearable. Thank you for all that you're doing.

This is a wonderfully run care home, with amazingly kind and compassionate staff. They looked after my Dad for a few years, and in all that time; he was only ever treated with respect and dignity.
Anytime we came to visit, we were warmly welcomed, and we felt that they cared for Dad as if he were
their own. We cannot praise them enough for their commitment and hard work, all the while smiling and creating a happy atmosphere for everyone. Thank you so much.

This care home is the best and they give my mum the very best care and attention ever since her dementia was confirmed. The carers, nurses, kitchen, laundry, kitchen, managers, office staff have all done a superb job in looking after my mum. I struggled for a long time on my own and I know how demanding
a job it is. The whole team there are so friendly, loving, giving and patient. It means the world to me to know Mum is taken care of so wonderfully. Huge thanks to the whole team.

My Mum is a resident of Vicarage Farm Care Home and is in the very late stages of Altzeimers. She was diagnosed almost 20 years ago. The home has cared for my mum every step of the way, nursing her back to life on two separate occasions when she had pneumonia. My mum has gone through various difficult
stages and each stage has been handled very carefully, taking into account my mums feelings every time and have kept me fully informed and supported me when I have needed it. The home is very clean, never smells of anything other than flowers. My mum always looks lovely, she has clean clothes every day, her nails are painted and her hair is done. When my mum lived with me I visited many care homes for respite use. None of them has come close to this little gem of a home I found. The managers and supporting staff always have time to discuss and have an open door policy. If you're looking for a safe place to put a loved one, look no further than Vicarage Farm Care Home. You will be amazed.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.413)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.413) out of 10 for Vicarage Farm is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.750 for Vicarage Farm is calculated as follows: ( (97 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.75
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.663 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Vicarage Farm is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 59 registered maximum number of service users is 11.8. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.8 = 0.763
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
