    If visiting the home to look around for the first time, an appointment is not necessary, but to avoid abstracting the nurses and carers away from the residents, it would be helpful to telephone in advance and make an appointment. From our very first visit to Austenwood Nursing Home to assess if it would be suitable for the care of my father-in-law we knew we had found a very special place with wonderful staff.
At all times he was treated with the utmost dignity, kindness and compassion. As a family, we were kept fully informed
of all decisions relating to him and made to feel welcome at all times.

Austenwood provided excellent care for my husband in every way. My only regret is that he was too ill to enjoy everything they provide (hence blank boxes for activities and value was NHS funded).
The caring attitude of the staff and their concern for his dignity and comfort were superb.

My mother has received excellent care since her admittance from hospital after a fall 6 months ago.
My mother has some dementia particularly since the trauma of the fall and consequential broken bones and has not always been as pleasant as she used to be but the staff have always treated with dignity
and respect whatever she may have said to them. They are a wonderful bunch of caring individuals. Thank you.

Mum was in Austenwood care home for 9 months. From the moment I walked into this beautiful place, I instantly felt a bit of warmth and comfort to my mum and myself and all my brothers and sisters. I was frightened going into Austenwood the first time but that fear was soon replaced by a warmth that
came from inside this lovely care home. If Mum could have made a choice, I feel this would be exactly the place she would have chosen for herself. The staff always treated Mum with a lot of respect and always asked her what she wanted and always put her first. When you asked Mum if she was happy she would smile and nod or say yes when she could. If you asked her if she was comfy, she would smile and nod. Mum would always have a beautiful smile on her face for everybody - Mum was happy.


The most surprising thing was at Mum's funeral. I looked up and saw 4 staff there from Austenwood who had looked after Mum. This was above their duty and I know we all were so happy seeing them. After we lost Mum it was wonderful to know that at Austenwood, was a photo of Mum and a candle burning and an order of service. The care Mum received was the best ever and I would always recommend Austenwood to others.

My husband was in Austenwood Nursing Home for three and a half years. During that time he was looked after by all staff with kindness and compassion and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. They were patient and understanding when he was going through one of his bad times. They always tried to
encourage him to join in the activities. Not only was he looked after but all the family were made welcome, including the grandchildren. Friends could not believe the reception they received when they went to see him. Residents' birthdays are always celebrated and a cake made by the excellent chef. During the year several themed suppers take place to which relatives are invited and these are well attended and again the food is great.


My husband died recently. In the weeks prior to his death, he was treated with the utmost dignity, love and care. Austenwood always tries to make residents feel as if they are in their own home, and of course, this helps the family as well. I can thoroughly recommend this nursing home.

My husband received the most extraordinary care at Austenwood over the last seven months.
He was a challenging resident but the understanding, and care, he received was phenomenal.
I cannot praise everyone enough from matron, all the nursery staff, wonderful carers, housekeepers and not forgetting
the kind receptionists.
They supported us all - not only my husband.
Our dog was also made to feel most welcome - he loved meeting everyone and playing ball!

Choosing a nursing home for my stepmother after it became impossible for her to live at home was a huge worry. We viewed a number of nursing homes and we feel so lucky and grateful to have found Austenwood – it was definitely the right choice.
After a difficult year in and out of the hospital the
care, kindness and help my stepmother received meant she started to thrive and regain her enjoyment of life. All the staff went out of their way to help her settle in, make her room her own and enjoy activities.
She enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, staff would pop in and chat during spare moments and speak as they passed her room.
I and other visitors always felt welcome and any concerns I had were treated with understanding and kindness.
The overall standard of care and management is excellent with a culture of continuous improvement and all the staff are caring and dedicated professionals.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Austenwood.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Austenwood for almost 3 years and I have visited 1 or 2 days each week during this time.
My experience during this time has been good with the overall standard of care, facilities and respect for residents being consistently excellent.
What stands out for me,
however, is the constant search and effort of management to improve the service and facilities and through a regular meeting with residents and families ensures informed feedback. Really good.

Our father moved to Austenwood for end of life care. Immediately all staff made him and us very welcome. They quickly got to know his preferences and shared jokes with him. As his health deteriorated they treated him with respect, care and concern. When we needed to stay the night with him we were
supported and cared for too. Dad received 24 hour attention to make him as comfortable as possible. We were included in the decisions when to take the next steps of care, and nursing staff were in contact with the GP as necessary.


We are very grateful that we could share the last 5 weeks with Dad in such a comfortable, comforting environment.

We are so pleased that, when it became impossible for my father to remain at home, he was enabled to be cared for at Austenwood. The diligent care and kindness shown to him and the support, understanding and compassion shown to his family were exemplary. All of the staff always showed us professional
but friendly support and the family were kept fully informed if there were any changes in his condition. We were always made to feel welcome and could visit at anytime.


We knew that my father's condition would progressively worsen and eventuate in his death. When that time came, all his family felt very supported by staff that cared and understood. We are extremely grateful to all of the staff at Austenwood, (Management through to Domestic Ancillary staff), for all that they did to make my father's last years as comfortable and positive as his condition would allow. Thank you everyone.

My father was a resident at Austenwood for 7 years. The care he received throughout that time was outstanding and I could not recommend the nursing home more highly. The staff are friendly, caring, patient and I know they always had my father's best interests at heart. The owners and the senior staff
are compassionate and professional and take the time to get to know the families as well as the residents. My father suffered a slow decline over the years as a result of dementia. He was treated with love and dignity by all the staff until he lost the battle for life in February this year. The staff couldn't have been more caring and supportive in my father's final hours. Austenwood Nursing Home is as much like a family home as a nursing home could be and I know my father was happy there.

My aunt transferred to this nursing home last Summer after staying at the same care home for 9 years. I was concerned about the upheaval and how she would be, but the nursing staff have been so kind and caring that I have not had to worry. She cannot do much for herself now but always appreciates the
kind smiles and little chats from the nursing staff as they look after her or just pass by her room. I have an elderly mother to look after, so Austenwood gives me peace of mind, that I do not have to worry about the care of my aunt.

I started working in the health sector from 2000 till to date. I have experience in different areas in the field from maternity, neonates, young adults, adults and specialised in Mental Health.


I worked as a general nurse, service manager in specialised services, being a DBT therapist and deputy director in one of the mental hospitals.


Having explored and worked in different areas and occupying different positions in this field, I decided to settle for Elderly Care as it became my passion to contribute to the lives of people at their golden ages. I then became a CQC registered manager in one of the care homes before joining the company.


My goal is to provide compassionate, high-quality support and care to residents, many of whom may be elderly or have various health conditions and disabilities. This includes collaboration with families which is very crucial in person-centred care provided.


I am committed to make my contribution for Austenwood to continue to be a warm, safe and loving environment where residents, relatives and staff feel like family and supported emotionally and mentally.

Working alongside my team of incredible carers, we strive to deliver exceptional person-centred care to every resident every day. A busy, varied and hugely rewarding position which I feel privileged to hold.

Christopher Pigera

Job Title: Head Chef

Christopher is a professionally trained chef who studied at The Hotel School in Sri Lanka. He completed the National Diploma at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel (Five Star) over the course of three years and received comprehensive training in all sections of the kitchen.


He has worked for various companies across different countries. In 2004, he moved to London and worked at prestigious establishments including the Meridian Hotel in Piccadilly Circus, City Inn Hotel Westminster, the Bank of England Members Club, and several other fine dining restaurants throughout London.


Since 2015, Christopher has been working in care homes as a chef. He finds this role to be an incredibly rewarding experience. He takes pride in preparing well-cooked, delicious meals that residents thoroughly enjoy.

He has been part of the team at Austenwood for over a year, where he is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of the facility’s equipment, infrastructure, and overall environment. Ian ensures that all work is carried out in compliance with safety regulations and standards. He also supports external contractors who service the appliances within the home.


His role is essential in creating a safe, comfortable, and well-functioning environment for both residents and staff, something he takes great pride in every day.

Robert Balan

Job Title: Head of Housekeeping Joined: 2020

Robert has been working for Austenwood Care Home for 5 years. He began his journey as a cleaner and kitchen assistant in two other care homes before discovering this lovely place. Since then, he has continually developed himself and learned in order to offer better and better services to the residents. He currently works as the Head of Housekeeping and also helps out in all ancillary departments.

Job Title: Operations Director

Fiona has over 30 years of experience working within the healthcare sector and is a Registered Nurse, remaining active on the NMC register. Her management career started as a charge nurse and then as a ward manager within the NHS, working in wards specialising in care for older adults enduring mental health conditions and dementia.


For the last 15 years, Fiona has worked in the Care Home Sector, taking on various Management roles, including Registered Manager, Regional Support Manager, Clinical and Quality Manager, Compliance Consultant and Operations Manager.


Remaining very hands-on clinically, she is passionate about supporting our management teams to deliver exceptional person-centred care, ensuring all individuals can maintain their independence and enjoy the excellent quality of life our care homes offer.

Louise is the Operations Manager at Premium Care Group Ltd, bringing over 20 years of experience in health and social care. Her career began as a domiciliary carer while raising her young children, originally seeking flexible work, she quickly discovered a deep passion for making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Since then, she has never looked back.


Throughout her career, Louise has held a variety of roles across the sector, each building on the last and shaping her strong understanding of what good care truly looks like. As Customer Liaison Manager, I support families in one of the most important decisions they’ll ever make, finding the right home for their loved ones. I guide and support each care enquiry with compassion and professionalism, ensuring every family feels heard, informed, and confident in their choices.


In addition to my work with families, I also oversee our marketing and advertising, helping to showcase the heart of our homes and the care we provide. I’m a people person at heart, and I’m proud to be part of a business that shares my core belief: life does not end with a dementia diagnosis. Our homes are places to continue living with dignity, joy, and purpose.

Job Title: Group Lifestyle Manager

In July 2025, I was honoured to become the Group Lifestyle Manager for Premium Care Group, where I oversee and develop lifestyle programmes across all our care homes to enhance residents’ wellbeing and quality of life.


Before this, I was Care Manager at Weald Hall, having started my career there as a care assistant. I quickly built strong relationships with residents and the care team. My passion has always been to make a genuine difference, caring for every resident as if they were part of my own family.


At Premium Care Group, we are committed to providing excellent, individualised care that promotes independence and enables residents to live their lives to the fullest. I look forward to continuing to create welcoming, engaging environments where family, friends, and our residents feel at home.

Job Title: Group Community Engagement Manager

With 28 years of experience in the care sector, Kate has held a wide range of roles, from domiciliary care to Deputy Care Manager. Most recently, she served as an Administrator, bringing extensive knowledge, dedication, and vital support to her team. Her deep-rooted passion for elderly care shines through in everything she does, and she thrives at the heart of the home, staying closely connected with both staff and residents.


Kate has a particular passion for community engagement. She loves meeting new people, building meaningful relationships, and making a genuine difference in the lives of others. She takes great pride in supporting other homes across the Premium Care Group and is always willing to contribute wherever she can.


Now serving as the Group Community Engagement Manager for Premium Care Group, a role she is immensely proud of, Kate continues to champion connection, compassion, and community across the organisation.


Outside of work, Kate enjoys spending time with her horses and her beloved dog, Selly. A devoted family person, she cherishes quality time outdoors with her two children, Josh and Daisy, and her loved ones.
