Overall Experience
My son has been at Chalfont since March 2018 on a weekend basis.
Chalfont Lodge is a very relaxing place for my son, he is taken care of extremely well, all the staff go out of their way to make sure that I, as a father, and my son and all of our family, are at ease.
Nothing is a problem, he is taken care of in every way possible.

All staff from the front desk to the cleaners are very polite and helpful.

I was originally told Chalfont Lodge was the nursing home best suited to meet my late wife's needs and throughout her stay there, I was convinced that they were right. The activities were brilliant and the nursing as good as it comes. I will be eternally grateful for everything that was Chalfont Lodge for the last years of her life.

I have found Chalfont Lodge a very good nursing home. The management is always very professional. The nurses are very efficient and carers are kind and caring. I would be happy for one of my family to come to Chalfont Lodge as it has a lovely atmosphere and I am always happy to come to visit here. I wish all nursing homes worked so well. They are a credit to nursing care centres.

From the first phone call enquiry about respite, the staff were very helpful and an assessment arrangement was made very quickly, which was extremely helpful. Carers and the nursing team are always happy to listen and discuss what's best for my mother. My mother is happy and feels content. All staff at all levels appear to want to make residents happy, which I appreciate. Thank you.

My husband is cared for by kind and thoughtful people. Staff have shown their professionalism when dealing with him by following up carefully when he needed observation and referral to other medical staff.

The activities at this home are interesting and stimulating.

My stepmother died at Chalfont Lodge on July 14, 2018, after more than 6 years there.

I was satisfied with the end of life palliative care, the coordination between the GP and Chalfont Lodge and the knowledge of the nurses on duty on the day she died.

My stepson has been at Chalfont Lodge for 6-7 years. The care home is a very friendly welcoming place where the staff, from management down are first class. My stepson, with the help of physio, music therapy and many excellent activities is now walking with a frame and can feed himself with little assistance. As a retired architect in the public NHS sector, this is the best care home I have come across in my long career.

Husband was in respite for 2 weeks in the dementia unit, his first experience away from home. Staff were kind and patient when he was admitted and nurses very attentive when he experienced a foot infection in the heat. He was well-nourished.

Review from Keith A (Husband of Resident) published on 19 March 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My wife was admitted at the end of December 2017 and remained there until her death on 10th February 2018. She was totally dependent on 24-hour help as she could not use her limbs, talk or feed herself.

Throughout this time she was dealt with in a most sensitive and friendly manner. The staff were also alert to her medical needs and responded with immediate and professional support.

Knowing she was in such a reliable Home gave me the massive support I needed during this tragic and final part of her life. The way they dealt with her death was exemplary.

Thanks to all the staff and their support during this saddest of times.

Reply from Bijal Sheraji, Administrator at Barchester Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Dear Keith, thank you for your lovely review. Your wife was a much-loved resident of the home and the staff were very sad about her passing but we take comfort in the thought that she felt well looked after and hope that all of our residents feel this way about the care we provide.
