Review from P H (Respite Resident) published on 30 October 2019 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Two years ago I stayed here for respite and vowed that if I ever need such care again I would come straight back. This year I did precisely that. Again, my stay was ideal. The management team and staff are very kind and so helpful. The food was good and served by charming staff in the pretty dining room. I chatted to a number of the long term residents who spoke warmly of their care and of the varied activities provided for them. My week's stay was very enjoyable and over all too quickly.

Having seen a former friend who used to live in another home, I was absolutely delighted to see how happy she was. Her room was impeccable. Staff super friendly. Attention to detail was on point. I would have no problem with recommending Chalfont Lodge.

Very good care and professional approach, as there were plenty of qualified staff to assist. All were professional including the managers, clerical staff and nurses/carers.

My father had a 3-week stay at Chalfont Lodge during September 2019. He was admitted to Memory Lane ward. During his stay, all staff were professional, caring, loving and courteous. My son's visited many times during my fathers stay and every time it never changed. Everyone including the patients appeared well cared for and happy. The ward manager displayed exceptional leadership skills making this unit run smoothly.

Overall Experience

I live in Canada and I am always concerned for my son and the care he receives as I can only visit the UK two or three times a year. My son was moved to Chalfont Lodge between my visits so I was anxious. Now I have experienced the Lodge, I couldn't be happier with the care he receives. Not only that but every member of staff, regardless of their position, have been welcoming and extremely helpful not only to my son but also to me. The staff and services are excellent. The property is very well maintained and spotlessly clean.

When I visit my mother-in-law a couple of times a month, I am always struck by how pleasant the environment is for the residents. I often witness the attentive care being given to my mother-in-law and it is clear to me that the standard of care I see is the norm as often the carers are unaware that I am there.

The transparent care that my sister is receiving is exemplary. All staff and management know who she is, what her issues are and what needs to be done for her to be cared for properly. She has, within herself, improved tremendously during her time at Chalfont Lodge and I am very hopeful that this will continue. I feel that she now has a very secure environment in which to return to settled normality.

I am always very well looked after here.
The nursing and care staff are attentive and friendly. I have a nice room and bathroom.

There are more activities here than at other homes I've stayed in, which are most enjoyable. I also appreciate the other facilities such as the hairdresser and chiropodist.

My father had two short stays here in the last three months, recovering from surgery. We cannot recommend Chalfont Lodge enough! They provide excellent care and staff and residents are extremely friendly and welcoming.

He arrived here from hospital two and a half weeks ago in a wheelchair and is now going home, walking with a walking stick only. Having in-house physio team has been essential to his excellent recovery. Also having meals with the resident's ambassador has been a real bonus.
