Mum has been a resident for nearly a year, and I have been amazed at the high level of care Mum is receiving. Staff are welcoming and friendly, from the care staff to the cleaning staff. Mum has made massive progress in her health and well-being, and it is so nice to not worry about her when I am not
there.
I would be happy to recommend this care home.

My father has been at home for four weeks now. He was unsettled and problematic for the first few days. But, with the help of the careers around him, he has now settled in well. He says the food is very good, and he always gets something he enjoys. My experience of the home is that the staff there are
exceptionally friendly, always with a smile on their face and ready to help in any way. Oak House is just like a big family home. I feel happy knowing my father is being well looked after. My mother is in another care home, but we are hoping that she will be moved to Oak House in the very near future.

It was my first visit to Oak House, as I no longer live in the area but had obviously heard of its existence, and I was absolutely amazed. It is such a lovely care home; in fact, it was more like a hotel. The staff were very friendly, and the whole place was very welcoming.

My mother spent nearly a year at Oak House and I was so grateful for the care and kindness she (and I) received. The staff knew Mum very well and were able to support her individual needs well. Despite being in a pandemic, all staff went above and beyond to help us. Thank you Oak House.

Our mum went into Oak House for respite care, initially for 6 weeks. Unfortunately, her health deteriorated quite quickly and she ended up needing end-of-life care. the care she received was amazing, the carers and staff were attentive, patient, caring and kind. Nothing was ever too much trouble! Everybody
was so respectful and it was, without doubt, the best decision we ever made for him.

I can not praise this care home highly enough. Sadly, my uncle had to go into a care home due to some circumstances. It was hard for us as a family to decide which care home would be best for uncle's needs. The staff looked after our uncle as well as we would have liked to look after him ourselves.
Nothing was too much trouble, they gave him everything we asked for and encouraged him to join in with activities and chat to other residents. The team is led by an excellent manager who is always very good at communication with families and has a strategic and safe approach during this challenging pandemic period. I could easily notice a lot of respect amongst the staff and the residents and everyone is encouraged to be one big happy family. They are all very caring people and this reflects on when residents feel very homely and comfortable. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Oak House to anyone and can not thank and praise the staff enough for what they did for our uncle.

My husband has been at Oak House for two weeks respite while I underwent a hip replacement operation and couldn't look after him myself.
At every stage I found the staff at Oak House to be friendly, professional and very helpful indeed.
They kept in touch with me every day to let me know how he was
or put him on the phone - this gave me peace of mind.
He said the food was very good indeed - all his favourites appeared during his stay.
When it was time to come home staff were helpful in finding a way to get him home as I wasn't allowed to drive.
Although he'd arrived at 10am for his stay, the day he was returning home they said if it helped me, he could stay for lunch and be picked up in the afternoon. I was so grateful for their consideration of my circumstances.
One medicinal item had been overlooked in the packing as it was in the fridge (fair enough), but a member of staff brought it personally to our house so as not to cause me any problems.
Will use Oak House again, Thank You.

Having to decide where your loved one is going to reside in the middle of a pandemic was extremely difficult, but we were extremely fortunate to be able to have Oak House available. The whole team of staff are attentive and caring and have a complete understanding of Dads needs. With very high standards
of hygiene and cleanliness, I cannot fault it in any way. Dementia care is wonderful, and to know that Dad is cared for to the highest quality is very comforting.

My family and I are so impressed with Oak House care home. The care my father and all the residents receive is amazing. To see my father so happy, makes me happy, following a very heart-wrenching decision one has to make when their loved one cannot look after themselves, and with all the will in the
world has to resort to a care home. I would highly recommend Oak House for your loved one, the staff become their extended family. They always keep me updated with his health and always want feedback from me regarding his care. They have also been on top of the COVID situation following their personal guidelines in order to keep the residents and staff safe. Above all, they care.

The staff at Oak House are extremely professional in their care of my wife. They are very aware of her needs and I can see from my visits that she is comfortable and in as good health as could be expected. I also noted that she is relaxed in the company of the staff and I have not seen any distress.
They are very prompt in calling me when they need to report any change of circumstances. This is a well managed care home and they have done exceptional work in keeping their residents safe during the Covid-19 pandemic. They have regular (fortnightly) zoom calls with management which allows relatives to ask questions and get full disclosure information. Recently with the new Covid-19 rules relaxation, I have been allowed to enter the home and be with my wife. It is well done with strict Covid-19 checks and all the appropriate PPE in place. These 'inside' visits have been great, and to be able to hold my wife's hand for the first time in over a year has been wonderful. Well done Oak House.

The resident was cared for during the last four and a half years of her life. She had no relatives in this country and I acted for them. I was always kept up to date with her situation, especially during the Covid pandemic and consulted about any problems as she became frail. The staff facilitated visits
during her last days and I know she would not have lived so long without the love and care she received. Her family and I were very happy with all aspects of her care.

Wonderful experience on seeing my mum in person for the first time in over 1 year. We both shed a few tears but more with happiness than sadness, and being able to hold her hand was fabulous. The staff were wonderful, as usual, it was great being in the home once more. Long may it continue.

Mum has been at this home for a couple of years now and both she and we have witnessed its performance through better times and the difficulties created by the pandemic. I cannot thank the home and all of its staff for their responsiveness to change, and of late, very difficult circumstances.
Their
strategies and protocols have been aligned always to the need to keep everyone safe whilst maintaining the maximum sense of well-being in a loving environment. The inventive strategies for maintenance of family contact have been excellent and my brothers and I have been able to meet with her via Zoom which has been excellent. Thank you Oak House and everyone who contributed in any way to Mum's welfare and for the peace of mind it gives us all.

I feel like it's my home to a certain extent. The staff give me all the care I need and I get whatever I need. Due to lockdown I really miss the outside entertainment as in watching dance performances, but I still enjoy the activities that have been provided, my nails getting done, films with ice cream
and treats and more social time with the people who live in my unit.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.843)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.843) out of 10 for Oak House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.843 for Oak House is calculated as follows: ( (247 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 286 Ratings = 4.843
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oak House is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 120 registered maximum number of service users is 24, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
