My mother has been in Oak House for 6 yrs. I can't fault her care in that time, if there was a problem, it was sorted straight away. My mother passed away 7th Jan 20. I cannot praise the staff enough for everything they did. They gave me all the help I needed and looked after my mum fantastically. Staff
stood outside and paid respect to my mum the day of the funeral and a large number came to her funeral. Thank you to all staff.

Having been at Oak House since July 2019, on the basis that following a series of falls, social services indicated that there was little alternative, I agreed with some trepidation. However my initial concerns were nullified by the general contribution of friendliness by staff and management in making
my conversion to a guided routine from a completely free existence and despite my continued inability to walk, I am managing to pursue a reasonable lifestyle.

On arrival at Oak House, I was made to feel very welcome. All the staff that looked after me were very polite and understanding of any concerns that I had. When first meeting the staff, any questions I asked were answered in precise detail which was reassuring as I had never stayed in a care home before.
On the last day of my stay at Oak House, the staff came to say goodbye to me and I told them I would see them soon when my husband has his other operation.

Oak House is like a gift to the community of Slough. We are fortunate and privileged. You feel at home here by the friendly and caring service of the staff. Even I noticed by talking to the nurse, I was surprised she remembers all the medicines to be given to my mum. Even the lady who works in the kitchen
as a chef asked my mum what would you like to eat. She said she is going to make warm food and chapatis now.
Special thanks to the lady who made my mother happy, her supervision is excellent and she works in harmony with staff and she does involve in working herself with carers.

Reply from Samantha Debenham, Personal Assistant at Oak HouseThank you for your feedback, we were very happy to see your good and excellent scores and read your kind comments. In regards to staffing, I would like to reassure you that we always make sure we have a good number of team members in the home so we can provide safe and tailored care for all residents 24 hours a day, seven days a week – when visiting the home you will of course be able to see plenty of the team interacting with residents, but there will also be members of the care team and others working elsewhere in the home, but particularly with residents on a one-to-one basis in individual’s rooms who may not be visible. Thank you again for taking the time to submit a review, and if you have any comments or suggestions now or in the future please let us know and we’ll be happy to help.

Since my husband has been in Oak House in November 2015, he has been treated very well and with dignity. If I think there is something wrong with my husband they arrange for a doctors visit. The carers are very hard working. I have only questioned once about an injury on my husband and they got to the
bottom of it and the carer was more than caring for him.

Although my dad was only at Oak House for a short time. I cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment my dad entered, to the day he passed away, the staff have been amazing. Marina Suite staff are so caring, loving and a true credit to the home. I’ve entered unannounced many times to see staff
sitting chatting and holding my dad’s hand tenderly. My dad was extremely well looked after and liked all the staff. (Trust me he was the type to tell you if he didn’t. Not once did he ever say he didn’t and always said how lovely they were). Thank you Oak House for all you did for my dad and for the support you gave me and my family also.

After an initial unsettled time, mum now seems to be settling really well. She has made a couple of good friends, has put on some much-needed weight and has colour back in her cheeks.
The staff are all extremely caring and professional and treat the residents as they would their own family. Mum feels
she is living in an extremely exclusive hotel. I'm so happy we were able to find Oak House. It has made a difficult decision much easier.

What an outstanding service provided by the staff at Oak House. Since the beginning of my Dad's time staying here, he was cared for with such love and friendliness. As a family, we were comforted in knowing that he was in trusted and loving hands of the care workers. All visitors were also made so welcome,
especially towards the end of Dad's life. This made his departure more dignified and the family were very comforted and respected at such a sad time. We would highly recommend Oak House to anyone who needs care. The whole of our family and friends would like to thank you all again so much for the excellent care that was provided for my Dad during his short stay. Kindest regards from our family and I.

My Aunt who suffered from Alzheimer's disease spent many happy years at Oak House being cared for by compassionate and professional staff. They were attentive to her changing needs as her condition progressed. Despite her family living some distance away, the expertise of the oak house staff ensured
we felt confident leaving her in their care.

Oak House staff gave us complete confidence that our aunt was being looked after with genuine care and love. We live far from Slough but we had no anxiety about her care. Staff knew her and gave us accurate information when we phoned. We were made welcome when we visited. Our aunt was always content
and peaceful. The staff were attentive to every need and even thought of her spiritual need at the end of her life. They were an extension of our family.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.843)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.843) out of 10 for Oak House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.843 for Oak House is calculated as follows: ( (247 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 286 Ratings = 4.843
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oak House is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 120 registered maximum number of service users is 24, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
