What an outstanding service provided by the staff at Oak House. Since the beginning of my Dad's time staying here, he was cared for with such love and friendliness. As a family, we were comforted in knowing that he was in trusted and loving hands of the care workers. All visitors were also made so welcome,
especially towards the end of Dad's life. This made his departure more dignified and the family were very comforted and respected at such a sad time. We would highly recommend Oak House to anyone who needs care. The whole of our family and friends would like to thank you all again so much for the excellent care that was provided for my Dad during his short stay. Kindest regards from our family and I.

My Aunt who suffered from Alzheimer's disease spent many happy years at Oak House being cared for by compassionate and professional staff. They were attentive to her changing needs as her condition progressed. Despite her family living some distance away, the expertise of the oak house staff ensured
we felt confident leaving her in their care.

Oak House staff gave us complete confidence that our aunt was being looked after with genuine care and love. We live far from Slough but we had no anxiety about her care. Staff knew her and gave us accurate information when we phoned. We were made welcome when we visited. Our aunt was always content
and peaceful. The staff were attentive to every need and even thought of her spiritual need at the end of her life. They were an extension of our family.

Oak House a very good care home and is well thought of in local area.
The care team is totally dedicated to the well-being of the residents. The interior and exterior of this building is spotlessly clean and is totally secure.

My father passed away on 8th July. The family is fully satisfied that he received professional and compassionate care right up to the end. We appreciate that caring for dementia patients is challenging but the staff were always patient and treated Dad in a dignified and respectful way.
Thank you.

My mum passed away peacefully on the 2nd of January after being in the care of Oak House for 18 months. The compassion and dedication demonstrated to mum throughout this difficult time of life was second to none. They treated her as family, not a patient. My thanks go to two particular healthcare assistants.

My mother has been at Oak House for about 8 weeks now and the improvement in her health and well-being has been amazing due to all the carers at Oak House. The personal care and attention she gets goes way further than expected with the carers showing love towards her and becoming her friend. I have
been involved with many care homes with various relatives over time but Oak House certainly takes care to a new level. Thank you.

Mum was moved from the first floor Highway Unit in July 2016 into the 2nd floor nursing care unit. Unfortunately mum passed away on Wednesday 13th July. The care and attention mum received from the care and nursing staff was superb. The management staff were excellent in keeping us informed, giving
us regular updates. In particular during mum's final days they were extremely sensitive in giving us the bad news.

Our family member came in neglected and unwell. He was in for two weeks respite. He was sent to hospital with a chest infection.
The care that you gave at Oak House was so superb that he was eating, drinking and smiling, something we hadn't seen for a long time. He was showered and kept clean, warm
and dry. He even came into the lounge and started to interact with the staff. We can only praise all the staff on the first floor Highway Unit, as the care has been above the call of duty. It certainly has helped him to move forward. We are hoping he may be able to come back to Oak House when he is discharged form hospital. This place is a home from home. Thank you.

My brother came to Oak House - unwell, confused and ill-clad. He enjoyed the food, care and attention of the staff - nothing was a trouble. Unfortunately he caught a cold and developed a chest infection - he was taken to hospital. My friend and I visited every day and were quite overwhelmed by the love,
care and attention that he was given. Now medially fit, we hope that he will be able to return to Oak House - at least until he is able to make more decisions for his future care.

My husband stayed at Oak House for 4 weeks whilst I had heart surgery. My husband who has dementia also has a number of health issues. He is 93 years old, a good indicator of his satisfaction with his stay, he never once asked to come home. I found the rooms were excellent, as was the standard of cleanliness.
All the staff I met were dedicated to doing a good job and were most respectful to residents and their families. I hope my husband will be able to go again to Oak House for respite.

All the staff on the second floor were extremely caring and very friendly. They treated my father with patience, respect and great dignity.
Although my father was not always the one to participate in the activities - there always was something going on if he wished to do so.

My father came to

regard Oak House as his home which was very reassuring for the family. Once again we thank all staff on second floor for all their care of my father.

In the past 4 years, I have probably visited my 95 year old mother around 400 times. In all these visits I have only needed to raise any issues on 4 or 5 occasions.
When this has happened, the managers listened with great concern and were always eager to put things right, and I could not ask for more.
Every
time I visit, I ask my mother if she is happy and does she have any problems to report. She always says that she is very happy and very rarely has she had any issues. Overall, my mother and I, are very happy with everything at Oak House.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.840)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.840) out of 10 for Oak House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.840 for Oak House is calculated as follows: ( (232 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 269 Ratings = 4.84
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oak House is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 120 registered maximum number of service users is 24, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I’ve been part of the Care UK family for nearly 16 years now. Previously, I was a Home Manager at another Care UK home, where I led the home to achieve an overall ‘Outstanding’ rating from our internal governance team. My career includes working as a registered nurse in my native Poland, as a paramedic, and I’ve even trained with the Army.

I am passionate about creating an environment that supports the independence of residents with one clear goal in mind: providing the best of care. I relish making residents happy and comfortable as well as supporting the team to do their best work. Teamwork is vital in a setting like this.
