My Dad became a resident in 2016 after a long hospital stay and unable to return to his home because of the difficulties he faced with his health.
Shelburne Lodge looked after our Dad so well we couldn't have asked for anything more.
He enjoyed the activities and the entertainment, we used to come and visit and he'd tell us all about it.
His room was kept immaculate.
He was always clean and tidy and comfortable.
The food always looked good and if he didn't fancy the meal the staff would try and find him something that he did want. We really can't praise the staff enough.
We sadly lost our Dad in February, we miss visiting him dreadfully.

But we can honestly say we know our Dad's last few years he had new friends around him and was well looked after.

My Aunty has spent three years in this home and if she would have taken part in all the activities it would have been lovely. I did manage to get her down a few times. The care my Aunty got was excellent and she was not that easy. The staff understood her difficult ways and sometimes she got cross because they did not come when she bussed. We told her she was not the only one in here. The last two weeks of the end of life care from all the staff was amazing. Thank you so much.

My husband is bedbound, he is seldom awake except at mealtimes and when his carers wash him etc.

He cannot move himself at all but relies on the very kind, efficient, cheerful carers who take care of him.

Visiting from overseas I was nervous as to what to expect for my first visit to Shelburne. I shouldn't have worried. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff who clearly care for the residents. Their compassion is reflected in a happy group of residents. I can now leave knowing that my mother is in excellent hands, which is very reassuring. Thank you.

My mother was admitted at short notice less than 24 hours after her husband died and the reception was exceptional. She was welcomed with compassion and understanding. Almost immediately, we noticed an improvement in her general behaviour. She became responsive and more alert. She has eaten well and put on weight. We would recommend a Barchester home to others without hesitation and would like to thank the staff and management for what they have done for mum.

My neighbour went into Shelbourne Lodge originally as a respite resident but things took a turn for the worse and it was apparent that she would not be returning home.

The staff were absolutely fantastic. They took great care of my friend with tenderness and respect. They were also very kind and in the early days, allowed her to have her meetings in the home with her "Sparkles" group.

When walking up to the front entrance, I could see how well maintained the grounds and pathways were. I was greeted upon entering the main doors and made to feel very welcome with an offer of tea/coffee and some cake. Everywhere I looked was clean and well kept. I was shown all around and even saw some empty rooms. They have a wonderful menu and a lovely garden with plenty of wildlife to see.

Everyone said good afternoon when I passed them, it is such a lovely, peaceful place, a real home from home.
