When my husband was due to move from hospital, I was so worried as I'd visited many places not too good. Shelburne Lodge was a joy to me. So friendly, so caring and his room is so cosy with his own bathroom. My husband is very happy there, loves the food and the residents love him. Such a help to me at this sad and worrying time.

Review from Merryn K (Wife of Resident) published on 9 August 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My husband spent the last week of his life receiving 24 hour nursing care at Shelburne Lodge.

All staff were very caring, but two team members deserve a particular mention: the deputy manager was wonderful - going well above and beyond. She was so compassionate and caring and treated my husband with the utmost dignity and respect. Nothing was ever too much trouble. She cared for our family as well as my husband and we will always remember her kindness.

In addition, the maintenance manager was great. He was called upon several times to facilitate a change of room and adjustments to my husband’s bed. We found him to be friendly, efficient and very supportive.

I would not hesitate to recommend Shelburne Lodge.

I have both nan's in 2 different care homes. This one is in a different league. My nan is very happy here and we are so pleased that we can see her care is 100%. The range of activities is amazing, keeping her busy and entertained. The choice of meals feels like she is at a hotel. Would recommend this care home to anybody.

My father was admitted 11 months ago. We chose the Shelbourne Lodge following my mother-in-law's 18 month period here of which we were very satisfied and during which she was extremely happy. My father is well cared for and looked after. Although bedridden, he is very content and we, the family feel he is safe and well looked after.

I have not found a sad person working here, all staff say hello and it is kept very clean and tidy. I have not eaten here but it looks good, always drink and cakes for guests. All rooms look like they have a view onto gardens. If I was taken ill, I would like to be there.

On a visit, my daughter remarked 'it's like a hotel and she would love to end up here'. My resident mother, widowed since 1985, is the happiest I have ever seen her. The company of others has raised her spirits enormously. I can't recommend Shelburne Lodge enough.

My mother in law moved to the home in December 2017. The service she received when she arrived was lovely. The staff are friendly and go out of there way to help you if you are not sure about something. The manager helped us very much in the run up to her moving in. Showing us the home and her room which was very clean and decorated beautifully. Mother in law can be very stubborn at times but the staff are very understanding. Well done all.
