Castlemead Court Care Centre is situated in the heart of historic Newport Pagnell which is a small and thriving market town only a 20-minute drive away from central Milton Keynes. The home has strong links with the local community and engages with local events such as the annual carnival.

Castlemead Court is a modern purpose built 79 bed care home set in its own grounds with private parking for visitors. The home provides the highest standards of care and accommodation for people with residential, dementia, nursing or palliative care needs.

All the bedrooms have en-suite facilities and all areas of the home are accessible to wheelchair users. There are lounge and dining areas with kitchenettes on each floor where meals are provided by the award winning chef and his team who can cater for all specialist diets. In addition, there are various quiet areas around the home and a Hairdressing Salon.

There is a full activities programme to suit all needs and abilities and regular Church Services are held for those who wish to attend.

My friend was a resident in Castlemead Court for two years.
Throughout that time she was very well cared for. When friends visited, we were always warmly welcomed by both her and the wonderful staff. Modern facilities and a wide range of activities, along with friendly people, encouraged and enabled
residents to live and enjoy life as they chose. No care home is perfect. There were times when things were not as we would expect. However, we were always listened to and the hard-working, dedicated staff did their very best to help put things right. I will always remember the time, kindness and loving care given to my friend during the last two years of her life. Thank you.

Over the past few years, I have visited a friend in Castlemead. I never announced myself before calling and I have never seen Daisy Unit anything other than clean, friendly, calm, homely. Of course, this is due to the manager and staff - all of whom are kind, professional, caring, unflappable and smiling.
Upon returning to the home on a hot day with my friend after a walk on the grounds, no greeting of 'How was the walk', the staff on reception zeroed in on my friend and straight away offered her the use of a hand fan, it brought a welcome relief, I had not noticed; and that staff told me she is usually in the office! I just hope to God that if I need to leave my home, it will be to go to somewhere like the home called Castlemead - if they'll have me!
Many of the staff were at the funeral and even there the manager offered the resident's son to not be a stranger and drop in at any time as healing takes a while and they would be pleased to see him.

Everyone in the home is very friendly and will try and answer any questions we have. The car park could be better, people not parking very well within spaces (taking up two). Very clean, my mother-in-law looks well cared for.

My husband lived at Castlemead for 2 years suffering from Parkinson's and dementia. I cannot fault the care that he had whilst he was living there. He was well fed with freshly cooked food and went from being bedbound to joining in all the activities and spending a lot of time outdoors in the summer.
When he became very ill and was admitted to the hospital and after 1 week came back to the home for end-of-life care. In his last 4 weeks, he picked up and started to join in things again and was treated with the utmost love and care. When he did die the care staff were nothing but amazing looking after me while grieving themselves. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Our mum was transferred from hospital directly to the home as she could no longer care for herself and the 4 home care visits she was getting at home were no longer mitigating the risk of her hurting herself (she lived alone and suffers from dementia).
I have found the care home to be a very high standard,
with very well-trained staff and high-standard care is given at all times, the care home is also very clean and well-organised and my mum comments she really enjoys the food and the daily activities.
I am a health and safety practitioner and my personal opinion is this home is very safe and is up to date with all health and safety laws.

My Mother was moved to Castlemead in July having been very unhappy in a previous home. I can't thank all the staff enough for the love, care and support they have given my Mother to help her settle in and take part in activities. Her severe dementia makes things difficult but she often tells me how
well she's looked after and how kind the staff are. The hard work and dedication by all the staff is exceptional, I am so glad and relieved to be able to know that my Mother is so well looked after. Thank you to everyone, but particularly to the care home managers who go above and beyond in their work, and helped my Mother and I go through a difficult transition from the previous home.

My parents have recently moved to Castlemead Court. They have been made very welcome and much care has been taken to enable them to be together. The staff are friendly. The food is very good and there are ample activities. There are day trips locally, which were enjoyed. A very good start.

A friendly welcome at reception and the same as you enter the unit. The place is very clean, very well presented and smells fresh. Mum has settled in very well and has the same caring staff looking after her. The quality and selection of food is good. The nurse in charge provides us with regular updates
and is always on hand to answer any questions. A great home with great staff. Well done. Mum is well card for.

My grandmother has been a great worry to the family and after coming out of hospital she was sent to Castlemead. It is one of the nicest care homes I have visited and the change it has made to us as a family is immense. She is so well looked after as she needs nursing care, all the staff treat her so
nicely, even though she can be grumpy! Nothing is too much trouble, especially her food, I think I will book a room each for my parents!

My mother was sent to Castlemead as she required full nursing care after a month in hospital, she was in a terrible state when she arrived at the end of May and aged 95, was put on end-of-life care.
Since then the amazing staff have looked after her so well, reversing this decision, encouraging her
to eat, no hardship as the food is lovely, she actually put on weight. She has finally been encouraged to come into the day room and meet other residents, even joining in an activity.
She has dementia too, so I told her she is on holiday as it’s like a hotel and nothing is too much trouble, it’s a joy to visit her now. Such a relief to have her permanently in a secure home where her nursing needs take priority.
The staff are superb, everyone remembers your name, it’s become a home-from-home very quickly.
I can’t thank them enough.

My mum spent the last two years living on the daisy unit, the staff, home, food, room, homely care home.
My mum was treated with respect, care and dignity throughout her time spent at Castlemead - one of the best care homes I have been to.
Sadly, my mum passed away on 28.6.23 - the end-of-life care,
support and love were given, and I appreciate you all. The staff have excelled themselves.

My mum spent twelve nights in respite care at Castlemead Court Care Home.
Everyone was very kind and helpful, she was not feeling too good and had to go out to the hospital each day so didn’t get to join in with any activities but she was very well cared for and the food was also excellent.

My mum came to Castlemead Court Care Home in the early part of 2023 and the staff have been so caring which made the transition between care homes so smooth.
Mum has settled in very well, her room is decorated well, spacious and airy.
As her daughter, I am kept updated on her care on a regular basis
and any concerns are dealt with really quickly and in a professional manner.

Dedicated and caring staff.
Mum was always clean and well-presented.
I was always treated like a VIP on every visit and found Mum clean, well cared for and well attended to.

My husband has Parkinson’s with dementia which all went seriously downhill after a bout in hospital but Castlemead Court Care Home’s amazing staff have persevered to help him settle and to manage his, at first, varying symptoms but which have now been professionally stabilised by the wonderfully competent,
kind and caring staff. So grateful he has been able to stay at this outstanding home - the staff truly make the home homely and special.

All of the staff at Castlemead Court Care Home create a friendly and caring atmosphere. The staff on the dementia unit "Poppy" are exemplary; nothing is ever too much for them. They treat my father and his family with care, dignity and respect. It really means a lot to us, knowing that my father is
in good hands. It is genuinely like my dad has a second family. There are plenty of activities and the staff are skilled at judging which level of engagement is best for my father. The care home manager is very approachable and friendly. She is always willing to listen to concerns or opinions from residents' families. The regular family meetings with management and staff are very useful.

Mum settled in after a few weeks and has made Castlemead Court Care Home her home. We have gone through some difficult times as a family but all of Daisy Unit has been so supportive. She is well-fed, nurtured and made as comfy as possible, even though she is a wheelchair user. I can not name individuals
but all of Daisy staff are brilliant plus I need to mention the lovely member of staff on reception who always helps me take Mum down the ramp. Thank you everyone from all of our family.

My husband has been at Castlemead for 16 months. He is in Poppy where he is treated with dignity and respect. The carers and nurses do a wonderful job. I visit every day and he is always clean and well-fed, nothing is too much trouble for the carers, it is like one big family. 5 stars.

Grace

Grace Madenyika

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2020

Grace is a registered nurse, an adult branch, and has been qualified for 8 years. Grace has worked in various NHS departments, hospices, community research and private organisations in which she’s held different positions from staff nurse newly qualified, to clinical leadership and training. Grace is passionate about elderly care and end-of-life as well as ensuring her colleagues are supported and inspired to develop their skills in those areas of care they are also passionate about.


She progressed from Care Manager to Home Manager in December 2023.

Karen

Karen Wilkins

Job Title: Clinical Lead Joined: 2017

Karen is a registered general nurse with over 30 years of experience. Karen has worked in a variety of settings including nursing homes, acute medicine, and HIV nursing as well as working in the prison service for 14 years.
Karen joined Excelcare in 2017 and worked as a staff nurse until taking the role of Clinical Lead in December 2023.


Karen has a passion for providing excellent care for those living at Castlemead and has a special interest in wound care.

Sasha

Sasha Quinn

Job Title: Business & Operations Support Manager Joined: 2013

Sasha joined Excelcare in 2013 as part of the home domestic team and in 2019 she took on the role of Head of Housekeeping. Sasha prides herself on maintaining high standards throughout the home and thoroughly enjoys interacting with those who live at Castlemead. In December 2023, Sasha was promoted to Business & Operations Support Manager.

Gracie

Gracie Goddard

Job Title: Home Administrator Joined: 2022

Gracie is a valued member of the team at Castlemead Court.


She joined Excelcare in 2022 as the home's receptionist.


Gracie has progressed to the home administrator role in April 2024 and works alongside all of the team to ensure the safe running of our home.
