All of the staff at Castlemead Court Care Home create a friendly and caring atmosphere. The staff on the dementia unit "Poppy" are exemplary; nothing is ever too much for them. They treat my father and his family with care, dignity and respect. It really means a lot to us, knowing that my father is
in good hands. It is genuinely like my dad has a second family. There are plenty of activities and the staff are skilled at judging which level of engagement is best for my father. The care home manager is very approachable and friendly. She is always willing to listen to concerns or opinions from residents' families. The regular family meetings with management and staff are very useful.

Mum settled in after a few weeks and has made Castlemead Court Care Home her home. We have gone through some difficult times as a family but all of Daisy Unit has been so supportive. She is well-fed, nurtured and made as comfy as possible, even though she is a wheelchair user. I can not name individuals
but all of Daisy staff are brilliant plus I need to mention the lovely member of staff on reception who always helps me take Mum down the ramp. Thank you everyone from all of our family.
Reply from Jayne Masterson, Manager at Castlemead Court Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your experience as both a family and from your mum's perspective. We really appreciate your feedback and I will ensure this is shared with the team on Daisy and our lovely receptionist.

My husband has been at Castlemead for 16 months. He is in Poppy where he is treated with dignity and respect. The carers and nurses do a wonderful job. I visit every day and he is always clean and well-fed, nothing is too much trouble for the carers, it is like one big family. 5 stars.

Wonderful and welcoming home. Staff are lovely and I am always greeted politely.
My friend has been there for several months, she didn't initially settle but staff have gone the extra mile to make sure she is comfortable and feels at home. From what I have seen of the activities they have lots going
on and I have heard all good things about the food.

At first I was wary about grandma going into a home, you hear some scary stuff on the news. But now am so happy grandma has gone to Castlemead Court Care Home its not what I expected care homes to be like at all. Grandma looks so happy when I come to see her, she has made friends and has her little
group of ladies who she sits with and she just looks happy and healthy. Me and mum looked after her at home for a long time and wanted to keep looking after her but we couldn't cope anymore. The staff really seem to get that we know her best and they show how much they really care, she has become the popular lady with the staff too and it's so lovely to see her settled in and enjoying the activities and bits they put on for them there. Every time I pop in grandmas up to something with the ladies who do the events and crafts. Thank you Castlemead Court and the staff on daisy who help grandma.
Reply from Tracy Shepherd, Home Manager at Castlemead Court Care HomeIt is always wonderful to see such positive feedback about the home. My relative has been at Castlemead Court Care Home for just over a year, in that time she has always appeared well dressed, happy and comfortable. I am no longer asked for her to be taken home so I now know she is settled and thinks of Castlemead as her home. The staff have been 100% behind this transition
I believe. God bless you all, you do a wonderful job.

My nan has always enjoyed her meals there and compliments the chef on the variety of meals provided. They even provide her with a meal of her choice every month on her special day. It was a surprise last week when I saw my nan outside the local pub enjoying a cup of coffee and a slice of cake. This
really made my day. Well done to the staff who made this possible after a terrible last year.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.784)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.784) out of 10 for Castlemead Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.784 for Castlemead Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (261 Excellents x 5) + (63 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 328 Ratings = 4.784
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Castlemead Court Care Home is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 79 registered maximum number of service users is 15.8, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
