Nestled within the quiet surroundings of Chelmsford, Admirals Reach care home offers personalised residential, nursing and nursing dementia care to older people.

The professional care team is on hand to help you or your loved one settle into life at the home. Inside, Admirals Reach's modern yet homely interior includes well-furnished lounges and spacious rooms as well as a conservatory. Arranged in five separate houses, four of these provide dementia care and one provides residential care.

The home also offers a range of lovely dining areas where residents can relax and enjoy an intimate dining experience with family and friends, and in addition to the dining rooms, residents can also enjoy mealtimes in the peaceful courtyard garden on sunny days.

My husband has been here for almost two years and has made good physical progress despite the illness of dementia. The activities could be improved, whilst bands, groups of singers are entertaining, more one to one activities would be better for those residents who can take part as this appears lacking.
I know the home has experienced difficulty in recruiting cleaning staff so this does show in some areas. My husband has previously been in two other homes and hospital, all have been poor experiences. I would not want him to be anywhere else but Jellicoe.

In relation to activities, the Wellbeing Coordinators are carrying out one to one and daily activities on each community according to their scheduled programme which we will be happy to discuss with you. We are currently recruiting for housekeeping staff and in the meantime caring staff are covering their shifts where needed.

The management and leaders and staff on Benbow are caring and efficient. They work hard to help residents. I am so glad my partner is in this home as I know he is cared for and I don't have to worry.

Caring staff, nice meals. Always plenty of carers around, try hard to entertain residents. Laundry tends to go missing and have had to ask for my mother to be changed on occasion. My mother requires nursing as she has a peg and found the nurses excellent. Good communication regarding my mother.

I understand that the labels kindly provided by family members had come off during the wash in our laundry, for which we apologise, however, we did manage to return all the laundry items before your relative left the home.

Very happy with care home and staff. All residents treated with dignity and care and attention. Residents receive individual care and carefully monitored. Care home cleanliness is good. Residents appear happy and comfortable. Activities regularly organised and enjoyed by all. Activities are well planned

Really happy with the level of care provided. Staff are friendly, caring and hardworking. Care staff and nurses not only care for my resident mother but also support my 87-year-old father who visits almost every day. Staff build an attachment to patients, appropriate attentiveness based on knowledge
of needs. Therefore staff turnover should be kept to a minimum. Food and laundry excellent.

Can't believe it's been over 6 years since my husband has been in Jellicoe. As I have said in the past it is the most wonderful home, with all the staff working so hard. He receives the greatest of care, always clean, well shaven and looking tidy. This is now his forever home and a lot of the time it

My wife has been in care for 3 1/2 years, the last 14 months at Jellicoe House. I have experienced care homes as my wife's mother had Parkinson's and her sister Vascular Dementia which my wife and myself had to deal with. I help my wife with her breakfast every morning and welcomed in by the staff with
a kind word and a happy smile. When I arrive members of staff are busy cleaning or returning clean laundry all with a good morning and smile. My wife is washed, clean and tidy, looking comfortable. Breakfast is always ready on a tray with a cup of tea and biscuits for me. Again in the evening, the meal is good. The entertainment is good with a newsletter to keep you up to date. Staff do an excellent job every day.

My mother-in-law has been here for nearly three years. She is well cared for; the staff are very kind, good-humoured, patient and relate to residents well. Sometimes in what seem to be difficult circumstances.
Sometimes the residents might benefit from more stimulation but it is appreciated that is

My mother's care is excellent she keeps very well and is looked after and cared for extremely well.
I find the staff helpful and friendly.
My mother is always clean and eats enough, there is plenty of drinks all day as well. On the whole, it is very well run.

Lal is a Registered Nurse with over twenty years’ experience. He is a knowledgeable leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life to older people, to enrich their lives. Lal is dedicated to providing quality care and support for elderly people, to enrich their lives.


Lal closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. He uses his experience to motivate his team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home. Lal is committed to promoting individual choice for Residents, allowing them to feel empowered.


He also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Admirals Reach.


When asked what he enjoys most about his role, Lal remarked:


“Seeing Residents smiling and knowing that as a team we are making a difference to their lives.”


In his spare time, Lal enjoys playing badminton, travelling to exciting destinations and spending quality time with his family.
