The staff were very friendly and took great care of their residents. My mum had to stay in Alexandra House as she was in recovery, having broken her hip.
Alexandra House allowed the family peace of mind.

In my mum's words, she said she felt rested, comfortable, safe and secure. It was also company for her and much better than sitting in a hospital ward which quite often was on her own.

The care that my dad received at Alexandra House from all of the staff was always with care and to the highest standards possible. They all went above and beyond in making my dad's time at Alexandra House to be the best it could possibly be. They also made time to care for my mum and the rest of our family on each of our many visits. (Usually every day.) My gratitude to all of the staff at Alexandra House, thank you all.

I could not have wished for a more caring and friendly place for my dad to have stayed in. Every one of his complex needs was addressed with love and care and kindness. They even cared so well for my mum even though she was only a visitor. I would recommend Alexandra House Care Home very highly to everyone. Thank you all so very much.

My husband was in Alexandra House from July - 1st Dec 2022 when he died. During his stay, he, I and all our family were treated with care, compassion and respect by all the nurses, carers and staff. The manager went above and beyond, was approachable, fair and caring and never too busy to see us and deal with anything we brought to her. She pointed us in the right direction on many occasions supporting us all the way. I have to say originally Alexandra House was our second choice of care home but we were so wrong. There are not enough words to praise Alexandra House and everyone who works/volunteers there. We have no hesitation in recommending Alexandra House as no.1 care choice in Harlow.

My grandad has been in Alexandra House for around 6 months. So far everything has been great. The staff are brilliant and treat my grandad as though he is family. The safety/security is very good apart from the front entrance as quite a lot of visitors don't close the door properly. Everyone has been very caring as when my grandad is confused or worried they contact us to put him at ease.

My dad has been a resident in Alexandra House for two and a half years now, At first, the staff had to work very hard to settle him but through their dedication and professionalism, he settled. Dad likes the routine and always heartily eats the meals provided, I feel he is in a safe environment. The new manager and the staff are always ready to listen and welcome suggestions.

Dad was very poorly before going into Alexandra House. He, we think, was going up. Dad had many falls at home. The last fall was a bad one and he was taken into hospital where it was discovered he is having mini seizures. I am so delighted and relieved to say that my dear Dad has settled into his new home. What's more, he tells me he doesn't want to go home. Thank you to the manager and all the staff for making Dad so welcome.

Over the last few years, life has been very difficult until we moved my mother into Alexandra House. She's not been happier. She's no longer aggressive and is extremely settled. They stimulate her with music and social events, which suits my mother very well. The staff are attentive and very caring. Wonderful people.

In light of the challenges faced due to covid, the home has maintained its excellent standards. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. No request seems too much and relatives are made to feel as valuable as the residents in care. The home has exceeded expectations in terms of managing relative visits and the care is always dignified. Appears clean and tidy whenever I visit. Great job team!

After a very difficult year, losing our Mum at the home in July and then our Dad being rushed to hospital in November 2021. We as a family cannot thank the marvellous staff at Alexandra House enough for their love, empathy, and support. Staff go above their daily requirements to meet not only their residents' needs but also family members' too. They are total unsung heroes of this pandemic. And are our Angels.

My journey in care began in 2009, when I started working as a Care Assistant at Runwood Homes – Alexandra House. In February 2010, I proudly achieved my registration as a qualified Registered General Nurse and continued to work at Alexandra House until 2012.

Since then, my career has taken me on a rewarding path into management, where I’ve held a variety of leadership roles within the care sector. Wanting to continue developing my skills and leadership abilities, I completed a Level 5 Diploma in Business Management and the My Home Life programme, alongside several other management trainings that have helped shape the way I lead and support my teams.

In 2025, I was delighted to return to Runwood Homes – Alexandra House as a Registered Manager. It feels like coming home to where my passion for care first began, and I’m committed to making a difference by maintaining the high standards and quality of care that inspired me at the very start of my journey.
