The staff are friendly. They do the best they can in the circumstances. Evening meals are ok, some very good, some average. White bread used at breakfast and lunch. Not good for nutrition and can cause constipation. More care homes should use the "pinch me" care plan (which is a mnemonic to remember points of best elderly care). There are not enough stimulation and activities although on a limited budget this is understandable, although not good for residents. There is a faint smell of urine from some of the carpeted rooms. All things being, though, the staff work hard and try their best.

Words cannot express our gratitude to you all for taking such good care of my mum over the last 4 years. She was a truly special lady to us. Although in her later life when she couldn't communicate, she always had a smile and a giggle! It was extremely hard for us to see her go into a care home but we didn't have a choice in the end and it was a weight off our shoulders to know that we were lucky enough to get a place for her in Alexandra House. To all those that were in Room 11 with me in that last week, you know who you are.

I visit my mum most days at various times and there is always a polite and warm atmosphere. Mum is well looked after and the care assistants are very aware of her individual needs. I find all the staff from housekeeping to management very approachable and helpful.

The care my mum received from all staff at Alexandra House was exceptional. The staff treated her with dignity and compassion at all times. The staff also treated all family with respect and were always welcoming. The manager was always available if we needed to discuss anything. My mum passed away in May and her last two years were made comfortable and safe due to the care and support she received.

Generally good, but at weekends I find that the staff covering don't appear to be as well trained at dealing with the elderly. This results in me feeling like an object as opposed to a person.

Monica Dragu
Monica DraguJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2025

My journey in care began in 2009, when I started working as a Care Assistant at Runwood Homes – Alexandra House. In February 2010, I proudly achieved my registration as a qualified Registered General Nurse and continued to work at Alexandra House until 2012.

Since then, my career has taken me on a rewarding path into management, where I’ve held a variety of leadership roles within the care sector. Wanting to continue developing my skills and leadership abilities, I completed a Level 5 Diploma in Business Management and the My Home Life programme, alongside several other management trainings that have helped shape the way I lead and support my teams.

In 2025, I was delighted to return to Runwood Homes – Alexandra House as a Registered Manager. It feels like coming home to where my passion for care first began, and I’m committed to making a difference by maintaining the high standards and quality of care that inspired me at the very start of my journey.
