My god-mother was given the best quality care, support, respect and advice during her stay and indeed all of us as family equally relieved support, friendship and it is with thanks to them that she has progressed so well after coming out of hospital. All the staff work extremely hard and truly Fernbrook
House feels like a warm home with some of the nicest staff one could hope to meet! Nothing is ever a problem and I am extremely grateful to all there. Thank you all so much! There were many activities to do, with people always asking my god-mother if she needed anything from tea and coffee to helping her with paperwork and her mobile phone. The therapy robotic cat had an amazing impact on her wellbeing and it truly made a turning point for her. She felt safe and happy!

Our friend was discharged to Fernbrook just over a year ago after suffering a few strokes, and since arriving, we have experienced nothing but the best from the staff team in terms of passion and care. They really enjoy their jobs - evidenced by their longevity of service, and because they are happy,
they go the extra mile to ensure people in their care are happy. The physical site is tired looking but I'd rather have a team of committed people looking after our friend with real care than have her in a fancy-looking place where the staff doesn't care. They provide a range of activities and stimulation - from karaoke singing to bringing in friendly dogs and sheep for people to pet and hold. We especially enjoy receiving their regular newsletters that keep us up to date with all that is happening. Hats off to the manager and her team for providing such a warm environment!

When my stepfather was discharged from hospital to Fernbrook following a major stroke, I was hesitant about the nursing home as they didn’t have a website, hence it was difficult to find reviews or get any information on the home. My stepfather’s stay was only for two weeks, during which I was unable
to see him due to COVID restrictions. He was sent back to the hospital another two weeks later where they informed me that he had suffered another stroke and had developed a painful pressure sore during their care. I visited Fernbrook most days to wave and attempt to communicate to my father through the window. In hindsight, I recall he was always just sitting in an armchair. Overall I would not recommend Fernbrook. My father subsequently passed away, at another care home with dignity.

I cannot praise this care home highly enough and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place where their loved one will be looked after and cherished. When searching for a home for my partner originally I was lulled into a false sense of security by the ridiculous untrue blurb on certain websites
and I chose a home that supposedly specialised in Parkinsons and Dementia. In fact this home specialised in taking money for doing little in return and could not get rid of my partner quickly enough. This was where Fernbrook House stepped in. OK they don’t have expensive leather settees and fancy chandeliers but they DO have a staff who really care about their residents and always go the extra mile to help. Sadly my partner died in February but I will never forget the staff at Fernbrook. They made her last days worth living.

Fernbrook House was a real home for my late mother, who resided there for well over a year before she sadly, passed away in hospital in January 2020.
All the staff there are amazing visiting her in hospital unknowingly, on her last day of life.
She was made to feel very welcome and loved living there,
the staff invoked her and all the residents with daily exercises and stimulation, she was taken out on many occasions for shopping and local excursions, making many new friends, she went into care after nearly a month in hospital following severe breathing difficulties and needed to be cared for on a 24/7 basis.
The whole staff there are an example to the nursing care system for genuine support and love of their residents and relatives alike.
Thank you all for looking after and making my mother's last years as comfortable as possible!

My mother-in-law arrived over three years ago in a right pickle as a temporary step-down from SUH with advanced dementia, sepsis, bed-bound, risk-feeding (she’d forgotten how to swallow) and grade 4 pressure sores along with various other issues.
Our initial ‘first impressions’ of Fernbrook were
negative - shows you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover! Over time the penny dropped how fantastic the real care actually was. The manager runs a tight ship with her team of nurses and care assistants. Time spent on one to one feeding slowly but greatly improved her risk feeding and soon she was back on puréed solids and drinks.
Her pressure sores started to clear up and remarkably were pretty much clear within a year. She has had a couple of turns for the worse in her time there and Fernbrook have been brilliant. Staff there throughout have been really lovely people. For my bedbound mother-in-law and her severe Alzheimer’s condition, this place ticks all the boxes and we are very happy she’s there!

The Management, Nurses and Care staff at Fernbrook Nursing Home are such friendly, warm and very caring people. My Mother is a resident at the home, having had 3 weeks prior to this in Southend Hospital with an infection. All the staff have actively engaged and encouraged my Mother to eat and drink
and get better, and she seems much happier in this relaxed and comfortable environment.

I would certainly recommend this Nursing Home as an excellent place to friends and relatives.

Just to add, a very Big thank you to all the great staff there for your help in caring for mum. Best Wishes.

Very reassuring arrival during a difficult time. Caring staff. Including management and care nurses. Nice room, super care overall. My Dad was very happy with the room, the lovely staff, overall atmosphere pretty much to the end. It meant a lot to my sister and I and Dads many friends that he was in
good care even when we could not be there. A big thank you to all staff who cared for my late Dad.
