My husband has been in the home since January and is much happier now than where he was previously. My husband is able to join in with a varitey of activities that go on weekly and has enjoyed trips out too. The staff are alway very friendly and caring. My husband has eaten well and put on weight since being in the home and in general, a much happier person.
Thank you so much for your beautiful review!
We are delighted to hear that your husband has been so happy since moving here in January. It is wonderful to know that he is enjoying the trips and activities, eating well and thriving in our care. Our staff love having him here and...
All the staff from carers, management and cleaners to chefs are all very happy, cheerful people.
Thank you for your time in writing us a kind review, it's always lovely to see you visit.
I cant speak highly enough of ashcombe house. It was my aunts home for 3 happy years. Louise, the manager literally saved my aunt from her prev care home, for which i will be forever grateful. My aunt loved the home as they used 'proper china and cloth napkins' they treated her with care and respect. As she became frailer and bed bound they brought the classical musicians to her room ! Special mention to Bianca, a more caring lovely nurse you will never meet. Thankyou to everyone

Since he has been in the home he seems very happy. We are happy knowing he is safe and being very well cared for. All staff I have met have been very welcoming. I would highly reccomend this home.
Thank you for your recent feedback and I am glad Dad is settling in well.
My father really enjoyed participating with baking. Being near to Christmas 6 of the residents including my father made mince pies. I assume later that day they all got eaten.
I am glad Dad is enjoying the activities and thank you for your time in writing us a review.
Ashcombe House has provided my mum with excellent respite care following a stay in hospital. She will miss the staff very much when she goes home next week. Everyone has been very caring and helpful.
Thank you for your kind review, I will be sure to pass this onto the team.

Her health needs are being met with a quicker response in comparison to being at home.
She is settling in at her pace and becoming more confident in her surroundings.
Also joining the Ashcombe team and community my mum is receiving the care that she needs, she is healthier, experiencing interaction with the entertainment/ activities and engaging with other residents.

Whenever I come away from Ashcombe House having visited Dad I always think how happy he seems. The staff are friendly and welcoming whenever we visit him, there are lots of activities in the lounge which we usually join in with and he gets to go out on organised trips which, to judge by his face on the photographs, he thoroughly enjoys. He's eating well and is comfortable and safe. A big thank you to all of the lovely staff for the wonderful care Dad receives.
Thank you for your review, we are glad your Dad is enjoying life at Ashcombe. I will pass on your kind words to the team.
Mum was always treated with respect and her care was excellent.
We feel extremely grateful that we found Ashcombe as Mum's last home.
Thank you for your kind words. It was an honour and privilege to have known and cared for Mum, she will always be fondly remembered, by us all.
So happy with the care dad gets at Barchester Ashcombe House, he feels happy and safe and secure. He loves the staff and has a good relationship with them all. As a family we are happy with the staff and care given to our dad. He is attending more of the activities now and really enjoys everything. Gillian is brilliant with him, encouraging him to attend. The nurses and staff are amazing with him and Louise runs an amazing home. He is enjoying his food and eats well. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words and positive feedback. We are delighted your Dad feels happy, safe and well supported by our team. We will share your comments with the staff, who will be encouraged by your appreciation.
As good as it gets . Everybody is so kind and helpful. I love my new home.
Food could be varied more with more green veg and chewing ability of my partner taken into account as his false teeth can prove difficult.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your kind words about our staff. We understand your partner sometimes prefers the comfort of his own room and can tire easily, but we do spend regular one-to-one time with him and are pleased he enjoys such lovely daily visits from you...
Managerial, nursing, carers, kitchen staff and cleaners were all amazing and treated my Dad with so much respect, he retained his dignity and regained his independence.
Dad entered Ashcombe house, extremely frail, dehydrated and suffering delirium after a stay in hospital. The wonderful staff at Ashcombe House have nursed him back to health, helping him to gain strength and allowing him to build his confidence so that he has returned to living independently.
I can't thank them enough and I am so grateful to the Manager, for seeing my Dad in hospital and getting him the care he needed.
Thank you.
Thank you Tayna for your kind review, I will share your review with the team. We miss your Dad, but we are happy he is back living independently at home.
All of mum's friends completely agreed with us that Ashcombe House was like a home from home
Everyone has worked at Ashcombe for a very long time - and it shows.

Meet the Team (12)

Hi, my name is Alina, and I am the General Manager here at Ashcombe House.
I started my journey in care as a carer, working hands-on with residents before going on to qualify as a nurse. That experience shaped everything about the way I lead, and it's something I carry with me every single day.
It is my job to make sure Ashcombe House is a safe, caring, and happy place — for our residents who call it home, and for the brilliant team who look after them.
Please do come and visit us, meet the team, and have a look around. We would love to welcome you.

Hello, I’m Sarah, and I qualified as a nurse in 2004.
Over the course of my career, I have worked in both hospital and community settings within the NHS, with my previous role as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner with the Urgent Community Response Team in Berkshire. It was within this role that I gained my Master's qualification in Advanced Clinical Practice and a love for older adult nursing.
I am passionate about providing excellent care and support to older adults and will strive to provide person-centred care at all times. As Deputy Manager, I will support our wonderful team to continue to be the welcoming, fun, caring home it already is.

Each of my days starts with a warm welcome to our residents and staff. The happiness and satisfaction of the residents and their relatives is the top priority.
I have a wealth of knowledge of working in a care system. I am very passionate about my role as Administrator at Ashcombe House.

I have recently joined Ashcombe and have really enjoyed getting to know the residents and the staff, I have lots of experience as a nurse and like to give my best every day. I always have a smile and am always there when anyone needs me.

Hi, my name is Gillian, and I am the Activities Coordinator at Ashcombe House.
I love spending time with and getting to know our residents; this helps me to offer meaningful activities within the home. From big events to a chat over a cuppa, every day is different. I am very privileged to do a job that I really enjoy.
When I'm not working, my Working Cocker Spaniel Basil keeps me busy!

I'm new to the team at Ashcombe and pride myself on delivering restaurant-quality food and fine dining. I enjoy interacting with the residents and finding out more about their likes and dislikes.

I started working at Barchester in 2019, have a background in electrical work, and joined the Ashcombe team in 2025. I’ve always enjoyed understanding how things work and finding practical solutions to keep everything running smoothly.
I take pride in my work and in helping behind the scenes to ensure Ashcombe House remains a safe, comfortable, and welcoming home for our residents.
It is important to me that every resident feels settled, secure, and happy in their surroundings. I am proud to play my part in making Ashcombe House a place where people can truly feel at home and thrive.

As Head Housekeeper, I am passionate about creating a warm, welcoming environment where everyone feels at home.
I lead my team with care, attention to detail, and a commitment to the highest standards of cleanliness, comfort and exceptional service

Sarah is proud to be the Ashcombe House Speak Up Champion. This role is to provide an alternative safe person to speak to about any concerns or questions

Anita was a carer at Ashcombe for many years before deciding she would like to take on the lead of care practitioner. Anita takes great pride in her work and does a fantastic job supporting the nurses

Residents love having their hair done. It's a chance to relax whilst being pampered.

Hello, I'm Gemma.
Enable is our digital care planning solution, which helps us to plan, record and coordinate care. My role is to support the introduction of Enable into our homes, and to support the teams with best practices in recording and capturing the care they support our residents with
