My husband was placed at Oaklands House in February 2022 after several weeks in hospital. He had dementia and had lost his mobility. He was very resistant to the idea of care. If I had looked for a suitable placement for him myself I couldn't have found anywhere better than Oaklands. The care, compassion
and love he received has been beyond compare. Sadly he became unwell in June 2024 and was in need of end-of-life care. Yet again this was carried out with care and dignity. During this time and in his last few days we as a family were also made extremely welcome when we visited. Oaklands residents are treated like a family and we all became a part of that family. Every single person in the Oaklands team cared about him and what happened to him and they felt his loss. During his time there he took part in numerous different activities provided by an exceptionally talented Lifestyles team. He did things he would never have done at home. Oaklands House is simply wonderful.

Nothing is too much for them, their care for the residents is first-class.
The room is always clean and tidy.

My grandmother was discharged from hospital into Oaklands for rehabilitation after a fall. She was in hospital for 6 weeks and my family and I saw the toll it had taken on her mood, she was depressed, disengaged and honestly we thought she was going to give up. So you'll understand when I tell you that
my mum and I burst into floods of tears from pure relief when we visited the day she was moved into Oaklands to find her singing with everybody, shaking the maracas with the biggest, cheesiest grin we'd seen from her in years. We can't thank the staff at Oaklands enough, they go above and beyond every single day and it shows through my grandmother's newly found smile.

My wife was a resident at Oaklands for just over two years, passing away peacefully in June 2024. She was in palliative care with late-stage multiple sclerosis and I could no longer care for her at home. All the Oaklands staff exemplified their values of care, comfort, compassion and credibility. I
am deeply grateful that I was able to entrust my wife to Oaklands and for the entire time she was there I had no concerns about her needs being met. I was also treated with the utmost respect and compassion. Thank you.

Dad has been in the care home for about 9 months now and has received the very best of care.
This is his third home in under two years and I can honestly say it's been by far the best when it comes to taking care of his needs. Even when he gets agitated and doesn't want to do anything they take there
time until he is ready then try again. They actually do understand what dementia is and how to manage it.
All the staff make you feel welcome and when you need to speak to the management they are very helpful and supportive.
The best thing I could have done was move him here.

My wife was a resident at Oaklands for less than two weeks, having been transferred from hospital as an NHS continuing care patient. She was terminally ill and died peacefully on 13th May 2024.
During her brief stay, I and my family and friends were very impressed by the home and its staff and we could
not have chosen a more suitable place for her to end her life.
Everyone was so kind and attentive and they could not have done any more to make her comfortable. I would like to offer my grateful thanks to everyone at Oaklands. You were all superb.

Very friendly and helpful staff and management. My mum even though she was suffering from Parkinson’s and cancer she was really enjoying her stay. The rooms were clean and very adequate for my mum's needs. The food was very good and Mum enjoyed most meals. All patients were in a nice secure environment
and I was always kept up to date with anything regarding Mum.

Oaklands is a very special place, an absolute gem of a care home. Our friend is really enjoying life here, engaging with all the wonderful range of stimulating activities offered every week. We have joined in with a few and they are all great fun. The lifestyles team are so enthusiastic and inventive,
engaging with everyone. Many activities and events are open to the whole family of the resident, and we are all made to feel part of the Oaklands family.
Indeed all staff members are very welcoming with ready smiles. There is an all-pervading sense of fun and happiness led by a deeply committed manager, whose door is always open. The staff are valued, with employee of the month awards.
The building is modern, light and airy, tastefully decorated and kept spotlessly clean.
Our friend’s ensuite room is large and comfortable. He enjoys all the home-cooked meals, and he can choose where he eats.
Oaklands is a joyful, life-enhancing place where our friend is living his very best life.

Mum was her for six weeks. She loved the home and was very happy. Staff have been amazing; they have shown empathy, compassion and dignity to Mum and the family. Mum passed away suddenly on the 2nd of January, and Oaklands has continued support and guidance to the family. We couldn't have asked for
a better care home. We will be eternally grateful for everything they did for us. Thank you, everyone at Oaklands, for making Mum's last six weeks of life comfortable and happy. Bless you all.

The overall atmosphere of the Christmas Carol Service. I cannot speak too highly about the quality of care received at Oaklands. My wife has now been a resident there for more than a year and we have both been amazingly well supported. Every aspect of the home is excellent, from attentive nursing care to efficient management and administration, including
the production of an interesting and informative monthly newsletter. The staff are friendly and relational, their commitment to providing a quality programme of various activities is very high, and the overall ethos and atmosphere of Oaklands are superb! I have already decided that should I need residential care myself as I get older, Oaklands will be my first choice!

I can’t praise the staff enough for their friendliness and care. Exceptional people ranging from reception/Health care assistants/Nurses/maintenance men and kitchen staff. My one and only criticism is the cleaning of the room. Sometimes a bit of a state as Mum couldn’t do this herself. Don’t like to
complain however this needs mentioning and addressing for future residents. Keep up the great work carers you are all fantastic!

My review is based on one visit to my brother-in-law and from reading your monthly newsletter.
I was very impressed by the welcome received from all staff and the obvious care for the residents. The amount of work that goes into stimulating residents and the variety of activities provided is second
to none. I really enjoy reading about all these activities and seeing the photographs.
Such a lot of work goes into producing the newsletter which I really look forward to receiving, courtesy of my sister.
I find it very interesting to read staff journeys which display their passion for their work.
Their jobs are very demanding but they all seem to give their all.
Well done to you all. Keep up the good work.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Byron Nadgie and I am the manager at Oaklands House. I joined the Future Care Group because I passionately believe in their core values: Care, Comfort, Compassion and Credibility, which should always be at the centre of the way we work.


I started at Oaklands House 3 years ago, I have a wealth of knowledge and experience working within the care sector, having managed Nursing/Dementia and Residential homes, led management teams as a Regional and Managing Director, and finally became Head of Quality for the priory group south west and Wales, before moving to HC-0ne as a Quality Turnaround Lead Practitioner.


Starting out from the ground upwards, I first became a registered manager in 2002, and since then have enjoyed working within the care industry in management or senior management roles.


As a relative myself of a mum living in Nursing care, I strive to promote best practise, person-centred approaches and positive outcomes for all those who call Oaklands home.


I have a keen love of the outdoors, sitting in the sunshine and a passion for writing fantasy and fiction novels.

Hi, I’m Sally, the administration manager.


I’ve been with the company for two years after a complete career change of 16 years in retail. I joined The Future Care Group as an HCA then progressed to a senior and now I’m the administration manager, over my time with the company I have built up relationships with families over their loved ones and now I’m the contact for them as they contact the home. My role is fast-paced and each day is different.

Hello, I’m Martina, and I’d like to introduce myself. I’m a member of the Administration team, primarily stationed at our reception area. I’m typically the first point of contact when you visit Oaklands. I moved to the UK from Slovakia 16 years ago and joined Oaklands two and a half years ago as a night healthcare assistant. My passion for meeting new people and assisting families in maintaining their connections led me to make a career change and join the Administration team at Oaklands. I’m part of a three-person team under the leadership of Sally Ware.

Hi, I'm Erica. I have been the Lifestyle Lead at Oaklands since December 2018. My team of 4 staff share a philosophy of engagement and fun. We love to hear residents laugh and are proud of how, irrespective of disability, all of our residents join in. We use a person-centred approach to enable people to have moments of joy and meaning.

Job Title: Head of Catering Joined: 1998

I'm Sarah, the Head of Catering! I have been at Oaklands for 21 years, where I actually started as a Carer. I often helped in the kitchen where I was mentored by the chef and began to learn about food preparation, diet and nutrition. I progressed to Chef and now Head Chef, and I am proud of my achievement and running our team.


We are always looking for ways to make food interesting, irrespective of dietary need. As a keen Baker I love to try out new recipes. I have a team of 5 chefs and kitchen assistants all of which are focused on providing a positive meal time experience.
