As stressful as it was for my having Dad needing to go into care, the entire team made the entire process seamless. Dad's every need was dealt with in a polite, friendly and respectful way. As a family, if we had any questions of the staff or management, they were answered honestly and speedily.

My father (dementia) became a resident in March and my mother (stroke) in April. I have now visited the home many times and have met numerous members of staff. It is always clean, bright, inviting and warm in there, with a lot of thought having gone into the communal areas such as lounges, balconies
and garden. All of the staff I've met have, without exception, been very friendly and courteous. I was quite worried about both parents suddenly needing care after seeing disturbing reports on TV and in the press, but I soon had these worries dismissed. The lovely greeting from the receptionist, the helpful and friendly office staff, and all the carers being so good with my parents have really put my mind at rest.

Mum has been at Oaklands just over a year after transferring from the hospital and not being able to return home. The staff are lovely and friendly, and Mum is well looked after.
There is a choice of two meals at lunchtime, and they will cook something else for her if she doesn’t fancy what’s on offer.
There are a variety of daily activities in the afternoons if she wants to join in, including singers visiting.
A hairdresser visits fortnightly if she wants to get her hair done.
Mum was always independent and never had carers, so this was a big change to get used to, and she found it daunting, but due to the excellent care she is receiving and homely atmosphere and great staff throughout, she has settled and feels safe.

I am a resident since May 2022. I love everything about the home. The staff are amazing, always going above and beyond. This is my home now, and I feel so happy. The food is lovely. I really enjoy all the entertainment. The lifestyle girls are so, so good and always ask what we want to do. I love making
cakes with our chef; she is amazing. Nurses, managers, carers, and all staff are brilliant. Five stars.

My dad has been at Oaklands since April, and in that time, the family cannot fault the care that the staff have given him. All his needs are taken care of, and nothing is ever too much trouble. They always have lovely things to say about him, which puts our minds at rest.
He has had episodes of being
unwell, and we have always been informed by the nursing team about how he is and any treatment that he needs.
The family are always made to feel welcome no matter what time of the day we visit, and we are also looked after by the staff.
It was his birthday last week, and so we arranged for an afternoon tea for him. There were 16 of us, and they catered for all of us with plenty to spare. The room that the tea was held in was very spacious, so we had plenty of room.
We all had such a lovely afternoon.
The family want to thank all the staff at Oaklands for taking such great care of our dad.

My mother was moved to Oaklands after a period in hospital. She was expected to go back to her own home, but the transition was smooth and easy thanks to the case, compassion and empathy of the fantastic staff. They all looked after her every interest and made her life interesting and varied. Her lack
of sight did not stop them from including her in the activities. I am so glad that my mother was able to spend her remaining months in such a caring environment.

Very good service, staff are wonderful.
Always greeted with a smile at reception.
The gardens are beautiful.
My mother is feeling loved, and she feels she is well looked after.
The building is very clean and tidy, and the residents are well entertained with various people coming in to keep them

My mum was taken into Oaklands for rehabilitation after a fall. She was only there for 2½ weeks, but from what we saw, our family couldn't fault the care she received. The staff were all lovely, and although she was new to the home, they treated her like family and were respectful and caring. The management
was also very approachable and there whenever you needed help/advice. The home manager made a point of coming around most days to say hello and even made us a cup of tea. The home itself is lovely, bright and welcoming. The walls are painted in different pastel colours with beautiful paintings, which made it a lovely place to visit. Sadly my mum wasn't able to make use of them, but there were lots of activities available and, being December, they included carol singing, pantomime, a party and so much more. Families were also able to join their family members for Christmas Day lunch if they wished, which was so different to my mum's previous home. Would thoroughly recommend Oaklands.

A great nursing home! My father feels safe and supported here, and the staff are very friendly and kind.
His room is cosy and warm, which makes him feel safe, and although he is almost bedridden, there is always someone popping in to see him, to attend to his nursing needs or just for a chat.

Mum was transferred to Oaklands this year after a short stay in the hospital. Although she was only there for a couple of weeks, we cannot thank the staff enough for the care and attention they gave to her. We also appreciate the compassion they showed to all the family in what was a very difficult

All aspects of Oaklands are exceedingly good. The staff are excellent, care assistants delightful and nothing too much trouble. My mother is well looked after and always enjoys the various activities. The receptionist is always most helpful and efficient and the care home is a pleasure to visit.

The staff at Oaklands House Care Centre have made my mother's transition to care reassuring and smooth. All staff are positive and caring - going beyond even when staff numbers are low. Lovely afternoon tea with Mum in the vintage cafe and very well looked after by the staff, who treat the residents and their loved ones well. Nothing is too much trouble for Oaklands and Mum has a new lease of life here. Thank you for all you do for her and us to make it feel like home.

I was generally very pleased with the care my father received at Oaklands House Care Centre. He was always very and I know he enjoyed the food - especially the breakfasts! Sometimes I know he exhibited challenging behaviour but I'm sure he was looked after with kindness and humour. Administration staff
were as lovely to him as the carers and nurses.

Byron

Byron Nadgie

Job Title: Home Manager

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Byron Nadgie and I am the manager at Oaklands House. I joined the Future Care Group because I passionately believe in their core values: Care, Comfort, Compassion and Credibility, which should always be at the centre of the way we work.


I started at Oaklands House 3 years ago, I have a wealth of knowledge and experience working within the care sector, having managed Nursing/Dementia and Residential homes, led management teams as a Regional and Managing Director, and finally became Head of Quality for the priory group south west and Wales, before moving to HC-0ne as a Quality Turnaround Lead Practitioner.


Starting out from the ground upwards, I first became a registered manager in 2002, and since then have enjoyed working within the care industry in management or senior management roles.


As a relative myself of a mum living in Nursing care, I strive to promote best practise, person-centred approaches and positive outcomes for all those who call Oaklands home.


I have a keen love of the outdoors, sitting in the sunshine and a passion for writing fantasy and fiction novels.


I look forward to meeting you personally, my door is always open, working with you to make a brighter future for your relative.

Sally Ware

Job Title: Administration Manager

Hi, I’m Sally, the administration manager.


I’ve been with the company for two years after a complete career change of 16 years in retail. I joined The Future Care Group as an HCA then progressed to a senior and now I’m the administration manager, over my time with the company I have built up relationships with families over their loved ones and now I’m the contact for them as they contact the home. My role is fast-paced and each day is different.

Martina Kerestanova

Job Title: Receptionist

Hello, I’m Martina, and I’d like to introduce myself. I’m a member of the Administration team, primarily stationed at our reception area. I’m typically the first point of contact when you visit Oaklands. I moved to the UK from Slovakia 16 years ago and joined Oaklands two and a half years ago as a night healthcare assistant. My passion for meeting new people and assisting families in maintaining their connections led me to make a career change and join the Administration team at Oaklands. I’m part of a three-person team under the leadership of Sally Ware.

Erica Smith

Job Title: Lifestyle Lead Joined: 2018

Hi, I'm Erica. I have been the Lifestyle Lead at Oaklands since December 2018. My team of 4 staff share a philosophy of engagement and fun. We love to hear residents laugh and are proud of how, irrespective of disability, all of our residents join in. We use a person-centred approach to enable people to have moments of joy and meaning.

Sarah

Sarah Barratt

Job Title: Head of Catering Joined: 1998

I'm Sarah, the Head of Catering! I have been at Oaklands for 21 years, where I actually started as a Carer. I often helped in the kitchen where I was mentored by the chef and began to learn about food preparation, diet and nutrition. I progressed to Chef and now Head Chef, and I am proud of my achievement and running our team.


We are always looking for ways to make food interesting, irrespective of dietary need. As a keen Baker I love to try out new recipes. I have a team of 5 chefs and kitchen assistants all of which are focused on providing a positive meal time experience.
