Lovely afternoon tea with Mum in the vintage cafe and very well looked after by the staff, who treat the residents and their loved ones well. Nothing is too much trouble for Oaklands and Mum has a new lease of life here. Thank you for all you do for her and us to make it feel like home.

Oaklands is a place of kindness and compassion. The staff go out of their way to make sure residents and guests are well looked after. They keep you constantly updated. My neighbour had no one in her life other than me and my husband. Oaklands gave her friends, people that genuinely cared for her. I
really do appreciate all of the help guidance and support.
Reply from Sydney Lyttleton, Marketing Assistant at Oaklands House Care CentreThank you for such positive comments. I was generally very pleased with the care my father received at Oaklands House Care Centre. He was always very and I know he enjoyed the food - especially the breakfasts! Sometimes I know he exhibited challenging behaviour but I'm sure he was looked after with kindness and humour. Administration staff
were as lovely to him as the carers and nurses.

All the staff including carers, nurses, cleaners and front of house gave us a feeling of complete reassurance that the last few weeks of our Dads life would be as comfortable as possible.
Well done to the Oaklands team. Thanks again.

I often attend to visit Oaklands with my friend whose husband lives here, this home is so welcoming, and the lady at the front desk is always so happy to greet us, so welcoming as care homes can be daunting to visit. The staff are so friendly and accommodating to us.
The home is so vibrant with colour
and always has an energetic atmosphere, my friend's husband always seems well looked after, I cannot rate this home high enough!
My friend has truly struck gold, she has built some trusting relationships in Oaklands and she speaks so highly of the lady in the admin. I may book myself in here when I need it.

The management and staff were fabulous in caring for our mum during the last year of her life. Nothing was too much trouble and tried to persuade her to join in with the activities as much as possible. Because of visiting restrictions due to Covid, booking a visit was always straightforward and we were
accommodated without problems.
We cannot thank the staff enough for the care and dedication they gave to Mum. Mum was quite a character and that was reflected in the staff's comments after Mum's passing. Thank you.

Oaklands House Care Centre reassured us the minute we came through the door. My father was so very frail and unwell, and as a family, we were anxious about his being moved from the hospital, how glad we were though.
He only had a short stay before passing away. As a family, what we experienced with
all staff made it so comforting for all of us.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Reply from Monika Jankauskaite, Digital Marketing Manager at Oaklands House Care CentreThank you for your incredibly kind comments. Praise like this means so much to our staff. Even though it was only a short stay, your father has touched the hearts of many, and he's missed by all of us.

Due to my sister's circumstances, staff have not always been able to deal with her, but have tried their best with her.
My main criticism was the phone took a long time to be answered or not answered at also did not get feedback when needed but overall was pleased with the care.

My father was taken to Oaklands initially for respite after having Covid in February 2021. It was a difficult time for all particularly relatives who could not visit him or the home. I had spoken to the manager prior to my dad's arrival asking for various aspects of his care to be taken into account
and for reassurance that he would be well looked after. In the 2 months, dad was there we as a family were just not happy with his care. Communication with residents was difficult but there appeared to be little appreciation of my dad's background or issues with Parkinson's. I was not impressed with the management of the home. I could describe in detail some of the issues but suffice to say that despite the CQC rating of good we couldn't wait to move him elsewhere which we did.
Reply from Monika Jankauskaite, Marketing Assistant at Oaklands House Care CentreWe are sorry you did not find the team here at Oaklands approachable, most of us in the management team have relatives in care homes and really do put the relative/resident experience at the forefront of everything we do. We welcome this feedback and will look at how we can make this a better experience for all.

Mum was transferred to Oaklands last year after being in hospital.
It was such a difficult time due to Covid and not being able to comfort her.
The staff at Oaklands were professional, incredibly kind, and patient during such a difficult time.
The administration manager was incredibly informative
from the start, and I can’t thank her enough for all the guidance and care.
The manager always has time for you to discuss any concerns; he made sure Mum was happy and settled in her accommodation.
All the staff during Covid lockdowns worked incredibly hard to keep the residents safe.
Mum sadly suffered from Covid, and the team comforted her while she recovered.
One lady, I would like to thank you for your support for Mum.
Mum has been well looked after and has regained her strength, she has settled in well and now joins in with the many activities that are arranged for the residents.
The two activities ladies are incredible at their job and organise wonderful activities for the residents.
Thank you, Oaklands

My beautiful dad had been in hospital for months with various issues and complications, but he was eventually put into Oaklands House as a 'D2A' patient while his care was assessed by the social services.
Horrible Covid restrictions made it very difficult for us to visit Dad, but Oaklands took good
care of him right up until he passed away.
The house environment is very calming for the residents, and the staff and management are very nice too.
It almost seems strange that we will never visit Dad at Oaklands again, and I wish we could.

The staff at Oaklands work very hard to ensure their residents are happy and well looked after, with the individual needs taken into account and catered for. Nothing seems too much trouble when it comes to caring. There is a real family spirit to the home and a happy atmosphere. Both residents and staff
are always cheerful. Activities are always doing their best to engage residents and keep them occupied, and it's lovely to see all the exciting things they get up to. I am very happy to have found Oaklands, and they have done a very good job of looking after my relative during the time they have been living there. I cannot thank them enough.

We feel that this is probably the best care home that Mum has been in since she went into care. Although we have not been able to visit as much as we would like due to Covid-19, when we have visited, the staff always seem friendly and have plenty of time for us and Mum.

My father has been a resident for just over a year. He tells me often how happy he is and what fun he has. He adores his carers and so do I. My visits have been a joy. My Dad is always smiling and he so enjoys music and singalongs. The team at Oaklands make sure his music is always in place for his
enjoyment. The nursing team are excellent and keep me informed of my Dad's health etc. Team Oaklands are great and listen to my needs and requests too. Brilliant team.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.828)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.828) out of 10 for Oaklands House Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 34 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.828 for Oaklands House Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (346 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 401 Ratings = 4.828
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oaklands House Care Centre is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 78 registered maximum number of service users is 15.6, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
