My siblings and I viewed several care homes for our Dad and felt such a good vibe here that we chose it for Dad. His room is spacious and overlooks the courtyard which immediately made it feel like home. The staff have shown great care and affection towards Dad and we have peace of mind. They went all out to set up and accommodate our family for Dad's 90th.

My brother has been in this care home for ten years and has always been very well looked after and all his needs have been met.
Some changes have recently taken place and these are all for the better.

The carer looks after my brother very well and always finds time to update me when I visit.

With a couple of exceptions, the care home has taken good care of our mother. It is, in our opinion, the care that starts with an individual carer and it is the responsibility of the manager to ensure those carers are supported and praised when they go beyond what is expected of them. Some carers stand out. Please listen to their needs!

Reply from Ruta Starkute-Nahani, Home Manager at The Chase Care Centre

Thank you for your feedback. The management team at the home work very closely with staff to identify talent, mentor and coach them in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for residents. At The Chase, we operate employee of the month scheme and a number of staff on the unit were nominated to receive the award.

Staff seem caring of residents. There's a big turnover of staff. At times, laundry can be mixed up and put into the wrong room, even though clothes are marked with the room and name.

Reply from Joanna Mosses, Manager at The Chase Care Centre

Thank you for your feedback, observations discussed during relatives meeting held on 12th of February 2019, actions taken to address concerns raised regarding laundry.

I am happy to be here as I enjoy the company of both carers and the management team, which has undergone drastic transformation. Time, patience and respect are all being observed here, as well as dignity and equal treatment.
However, as the saying goes, always room for improvement.

I believe in the concept of home from home and this care home cannot be left out.

This is based on regular visits, on average about three, sometimes four times per week, lasting on average about 1 1/2 hours, usually mid-to-late afternoon and sometimes before lunch, never (to my recollection) during get-up and breakfast period. Resulting no doubt from 2 or 3 CQC assessments, the current climate - with the accent always on caring with dedication and patience and kindness, makes it a pleasure to see and meet smiling "how are you?" welcoming faces, never showing harassment when interrupted during their duties to answer a few questions, which surely reflects the care taken in recruitment of staff after inevitable departures for better pay elsewhere or for other reasons. In collaboration with the NHS surgery across the minor road, duty nurses keep close relatives informed of health problems however minor. My assessment of 'Likely' is simply because 'extremely likely' implies near-perfection which is virtually impossible in an environment where carer/patient ratio is 1 to 5. A category "very likely" would get my tick. It is such a shame there is no decent piano.

Reply from Ruta Starkute-Nahani, Home Manager at The Chase Care Centre

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are currently looking to replace our piano and will keep you updated on our progress.

The Chase Care Centre has been instrumental in bringing my mother back to some sort of health following a stroke and fall.
However, the home has experienced a massive change in management and staff that has resulted in a lack of communication and numerous deficiencies.

The hope under the new manager is that there will be more continuity in staff good care practices.

We are more than happy with The Chase and the wonderful staff. Dad loves the carers and has a great relationship with them all. He loves the food and loves his room.

Our only grievance is the amount of stuff that goes missing that we've never seen again. And once it's been reported, we don't hear anything again, apart from that we couldn't be happier, but would still like the lockable cupboard we've been promised since he moved here in November 2016.

Reply from Ruta Starkute-Nahani, Home Manager at The Chase Care Centre

Dear Lyn,

Thank you for your feedback. I am pleased to confirm the lockable cabinet has now been replaced. I would like to meet with you to discuss your concerns regarding missing items so please do get in touch.

Thank you,

Ruta.

The Chase Care Centre has a good management team in place who are working hard to ensure improvement in all aspects of running the home. My mother is very well looked after and appears content. The staff are friendly and keen to please. Activities are organised with enthusiasm and a genuine desire to improve the daily experiences of the residents. I only wish there could be more of them. I feel standards of cleanliness and general decor have improved and residents rooms are more homely. The staff know my mother well and treat her with dignity.

When first admitted for respite, everything was fine. Since then the home has had problems ie management staff leaving, deterioration of food, care, cleanliness etc.

With the new management, things have definitely improved for the better. However, the kitchen needs to be supervised ie menu etc, but they're on the right track.
