The Chase is a modern, spacious, purpose-built home located in the town of Watford in Hertfordshire. Bedrooms are freshly and tastefully decorated and are ready-furnished for residents to make their own. I had been given less than a month's notice to find a new home for my father as his previous home was closing for refurbishment. I looked at quite a few nursing homes in the area. When I first came to visit The Chase and met with the Manager I felt comfortable that my father's needs and welfare would
be well met. I have found the staff and management to be very approachable and to have a good understanding of my father's requirement.

My siblings and I viewed several care homes for our Dad and felt such a good vibe here that we chose it for Dad. His room is spacious and overlooks the courtyard which immediately made it feel like home. The staff have shown great care and affection towards Dad and we have peace of mind. They went all

My brother has been in this care home for ten years and has always been very well looked after and all his needs have been met.
Some changes have recently taken place and these are all for the better.

With a couple of exceptions, the care home has taken good care of our mother. It is, in our opinion, the care that starts with an individual carer and it is the responsibility of the manager to ensure those carers are supported and praised when they go beyond what is expected of them. Some carers stand

Staff seem caring of residents. There's a big turnover of staff. At times, laundry can be mixed up and put into the wrong room, even though clothes are marked with the room and name.

This is based on regular visits, on average about three, sometimes four times per week, lasting on average about 1 1/2 hours, usually mid-to-late afternoon and sometimes before lunch, never (to my recollection) during get-up and breakfast period. Resulting no doubt from 2 or 3 CQC assessments, the current
climate - with the accent always on caring with dedication and patience and kindness, makes it a pleasure to see and meet smiling "how are you?" welcoming faces, never showing harassment when interrupted during their duties to answer a few questions, which surely reflects the care taken in recruitment of staff after inevitable departures for better pay elsewhere or for other reasons. In collaboration with the NHS surgery across the minor road, duty nurses keep close relatives informed of health problems however minor. My assessment of 'Likely' is simply because 'extremely likely' implies near-perfection which is virtually impossible in an environment where carer/patient ratio is 1 to 5. A category "very likely" would get my tick. It is such a shame there is no decent piano.

The staff here are so caring and do everything in their power to ensure that my husband is happy, comfortable and well looked after. I was very anxious at first but the staff also took the time to ensure I was ok as well.

Four weeks on my husband is still extremely difficult with any personal care but the staff are very patient gentle and kind with him. I’m sure they are doing their very best to cope with this problem and I am much happier with the situation. He certainly enjoys the food and eats well!

The Chase Care Centre has been instrumental in bringing my mother back to some sort of health following a stroke and fall.
However, the home has experienced a massive change in management and staff that has resulted in a lack of communication and numerous deficiencies.
The hope under the new manager
is that there will be more continuity in staff good care practices.

We are more than happy with The Chase and the wonderful staff. Dad loves the carers and has a great relationship with them all. He loves the food and loves his room.
Our only grievance is the amount of stuff that goes missing that we've never seen again. And once it's been reported, we don't hear
anything again, apart from that we couldn't be happier, but would still like the lockable cupboard we've been promised since he moved here in November 2016.

The Chase Care Centre has a good management team in place who are working hard to ensure improvement in all aspects of running the home. My mother is very well looked after and appears content. The staff are friendly and keen to please. Activities are organised with enthusiasm and a genuine desire to
improve the daily experiences of the residents. I only wish there could be more of them. I feel standards of cleanliness and general decor have improved and residents rooms are more homely. The staff know my mother well and treat her with dignity.
