The Chase staff went above and beyond our expectations for a 65th wedding anniversary celebration for my mum who is a resident and my dad who joined us in the family room. Which was beautifully decorated with the table laid, refreshments, balloons, banners, a card and even a lovely gift. We couldn't
have asked for more.

The Chase provides an excellent level of care for my father who has been a resident for over 18 months. The staff always seem very polite and attentive, including the activities group who go out of their way to make the residents feel happy and include them in things. Although he doesn't take part in
all the activities, because he prefers not to, my father watches and is included where possible so he still feels part of a group.
Regarding meals, the food is freshly prepared every day and they seem to offer a limited but healthy menu including fruit smoothie drinks which he likes. Visiting is very easy and when we see him we usually sit in the garden where it is quiet and very pleasant on sunny days.
When he was in his previous home (where he was temporarily after hospital care) he often said that he wanted to come home, but now living at The Chase he reguarly says he likes being there, he calls it "a club".

My husband was well cared for at The Chase. The nurses and care assistants were kind and gentle and were very attentive to us, his family, at a very difficult time made much worse by Covid restrictions. The manager, her assistants, admin staff and all the staff were always polite and very helpful. We
are grateful to all of them.
Reply from Tibi Ionescu, National Operations Manager at The Chase Care CentreThank you for your valuable feedback. After a few distressing months with a family bereavement, we had to find care for my father. The Chase Care Centre was recommended by a friend. Thanks to a member of staff, a room was found. It's early days for Dad but he seems to be settling in well. We are able to visit more freely as Covid-19 restrictions
have eased. It's a difficult decision to put a loved one in care but the communication and care of the staff give us the reassurance that he is being looked after, and is safe.

The staff at The Chase Care Centre are wonderful, caring and kind to Mum and treat her like their own mother. As a daughter, living abroad has given me its challenges and I really, really appreciate how the activities team kept me in contact with Mum weekly and especially during the pandemic. I thank
the nurses and doctors for providing me with medical updates and the excellent care that is provided for my mother and all the other residents. God bless you all.

This was the first care home my mum had ever gone into so I didn't know what to expect but, I found the staff abrupt and not very friendly. My mum was constantly distressed but they just kept saying it was her condition (dementia) but she has never been like that before or now she is in another home.
She often looked unkempt. The food was also poor. She was very unhappy there.

I find that everyone is very friendly and helpful. The lady who swabs me when I visit is very efficient. The care home is kept very clean and the carers are very friendly with my father and the infection control is efficiently handled. We, as a family, are very happy with the care our dad is receiving.

Very disappointing service. It was evident from the first day that they treated my mother poorly. So many examples of poor management from the way they handled entry during Covid restrictions, to the complete lack of compassion to Mum. This continued right through the request of continuing care funding,
whereby the nurse was not prepared for the call and sadly did not give accurate representations of Mum's condition. The Chase also failed to provide a range of documents to the NHC appeal committee when requested to do so.
Reply from Ruta Starkute - Nahani, Manager at The Chase Care CentreI am extremely sorry and concerned by your feedback about your mother's stay at The Chase. As the operations manager with overall responsibility for The Chase, I take all feedback very seriously. I have established from our records that all CHC and appeal documents were transferred on time and I can assure you that all of our visiting restrictions follow Public Health England and local government guidelines to the letter. I am nevertheless keen to hear and discuss with you any outstanding concerns you may have and I would be grateful if you could call me on 01923 232307.

My mum was very poorly when she entered The Chase in January 2020, having been declining in health over several months previous to that. Being at The Chase has brought her back to much better health and it is a comfort to see how well she is cared for and how much more socially active she is. The staff
cannot do enough to help her and I cannot praise them highly enough.

All staff wearing PPE. Mother is well cared for in terms of good wholesome regular meals. Lady who does the swab tests, is very kind and polite, always courteous and gives full information to my queries. However, during pod visits (outdoors) if my mother could be dressed in warm clothing (coat) before
being transported outdoors.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.715)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.715) out of 10 for The Chase Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 54 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 53 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.715 for The Chase Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (462 Excellents x 5) + (146 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 624 Ratings = 4.715
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Chase Care Centre is based on 53 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 110 registered maximum number of service users is 22, which has been reached with 53 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
