Erskine Hall provides nursing, residential and dementia care. Inside the impressive, purpose-built home, they offer a warm welcome to long and short stays, including care for those living with Parkinson’s or Huntington’s care. Respite bookings can be made in advance if planning a holiday or break.

Based in a quiet suburb of Northwood, on the outskirts of Watford. There are plenty of peaceful spots and social spaces to spend time in. Residents have a choice of five lounges, where they can grab a book and cosy up in one of the armchairs or catch up with loved ones over coffee and cake. There’s an inviting terrace on the first floor, large patio area and lots of garden space that residents are free to explore, too. The home also benefits from a cinema room, hairdressing room with nail bar too.

There's a great atmosphere and the staff encourage residents to get involved as much as they’d like. To help residents feel at home, they take the time to get to know them. The home can then tailor activities to their interests and hobbies too. From activities such as community quizzes, crafts and flower arranging to tea dances and fetes, there is so much for residents to enjoy.

The chefs prepare a range of wholesome meals for residents to enjoy in the social dining area or in the comfort of their own room. They also talk to each resident about their likes, dislikes and any special dietary needs when they move in. That way, their food is cooked just right.

My sister and I were unable to view Erskine Hall Care Home last year due to Covid-19 prior to our mother's admission. We then had to leave her for 14-days before being able to visit. We were encouraged by the staff to face time and phone whenever we liked to make sure she had settled in ok. She struggled
to adapt to being in the home but the staff were wonderful and would encourage her to take part in the activities. The staff were always very kind and understanding towards her. In the last few weeks of her life, they couldn't have been more accommodating to us to enable us to visit and spend time with her. We both would highly recommend Erskine Hall Care Home.

Considering my husband was admitted during covid and I was unable to view Erskine Hall, I was not disappointed. The care received was extremely good and it was good to hear staff laughing despite the pressures. A very happy atmosphere. First-class attention to medical care. Sad that visiting was so
restricted during covid, but overall very satisfied.

Covid 19 has made it very difficult for the care home to excel in everything and having visitors has been one area. Also, I believe reduced possible activities.
Food and drink. I was very happy with the supplied drink but did feel the food could have more variety. The soup may have been healthy, but
was hard to describe with little taste.
Some staff shortage was apparent at times, but they were all excellent and looked after me well.
Unable to comment on value for money. I have nothing to compare it with.

My short stay at Erskine Hall Care Home following a hip replacement contributed greatly to my recovery. Erskine Hall offered me a much-needed rest. The staff were caring, adaptable and attentive to their patient's needs. Their flexibility (meal times etc) was particularly appreciated. Should I need
respite, I would go back to Erskine Hall with pleasure.

Under Covid restriction, Erskine Hall was a Godsend. As we got Mother out of the hospital for end of life care, so the family could visit her in her final weeks of her 97-year life. All the nurses and carers were wonderful and very helpful in the care they gave Mother and the attention they gave us
when visiting. Regular communications were excellent. All in all, a big thank you.

Great facilities and lovely furnishing since the recent refurbishment of the care home. Its large and spacious areas for residents and relatives were a big factor when choosing the home for my nan as before COVID we would regularly visit her along with other friends and family members and were able
to spend time with her as if she were in her own home. Great range of activities for her to attend and entertainment rooms. Glad that during COVID the staff were quick to adapt to relatives' and residents' needs by organising vital Zoom/Facetime calls to keep us in touch with our loved ones. Overall a pleasing care home with friendly and welcoming staff and rooms are always very clean and tidy.

My partner seemed happy with her treatment when she entered the home, but I was unable to visit her when she was conscious. During the time I spent with her when she was unconscious, she seemed without pain. The staff were very kind to her and myself.

The staff were very caring but our friend deteriorated significantly during lockdown because none of her friends were able to visit (normally she would have at least two visitors every week who would have sat with her in her room).

We went online and viewed the Erskine Hall website which we were very impressed with. The building is beautiful. The last official care inspection report, which was old, did momentarily make us doubt that Erskine was the right place. However, we made enquiries with friends who had had loved ones there
in recent times. All the feedback received about Erskine was very positive. A phone call to Erskine Hall itself was answered sympathetically and honestly which put our minds at rest. We have nothing but good things to say about the staff. They dealt with everything so well and were always very helpful with phone enquiries. Due to Covid restrictions, we could not visit personally, but the staff were very accommodating at setting up a ZOOM meeting between my stepfather and his wife which was a huge comfort to her. Staff could not have been more caring, particularly when he was in the last hours of his life, and facilitated a visit to see him. We would highly recommend Erskine Hall.

My mother decided to move to Erskine Hall in November 2018. Initially, Mum was quite independent and needed only a safe environment for living. She appreciated the company of others, the various activities, and the absence of day to day worries. Lockdowns and restrictions on visits meant that 2020 was
a difficult year and one in which her age was catching up with her. Mum gradually needed more personal care and eventually, end of life care. She died peacefully in December 2020 at the age of 101. Mum had formed close personal bonds with the nurses and carers who looked after her and would have been confident of the care she would receive. Mum had been an 'old fashioned' nurse and had high standards. We are very grateful to all the staff at Erskine Hall for caring for Mum with kindness and respect.

My mother lived at Erskine Hall from October 2017 until she passed away in August 2020. The home is very comfortable and spacious. There is an extensive menu; a varied programme of activities and close links with local schools. Erskine has a welcoming atmosphere. My brother and I spent many hours there
- visiting on a daily basis, sometimes joining activity groups, using the adapted kitchen to bake cakes with mum and sometimes we were able to order and pay for meals so that we could have dinner with her. We felt that the home encouraged and supported existing close family ties. This was not the case in a previous home where mum spent a few weeks. The greatest asset of Erskine is the staff team, who are kind and professional. Many individual staff members are deeply compassionate and empathic, working hard to get to know residents well. Mum had many funny and tender moments with staff and I will always be grateful for their care towards her, and to us.

My mother was placed in Erskine Hall after being transferred from a hospice. My mother’s stay was very short but said everything was wonderful and was receiving excellent care. She said her room was very comfortable, and the staff could have not done anything more to help her. I had dealings with a
couple of staff members, who were very helpful to me and my sisters when we came to visit. I would like to thank the person who nursed my mother, nothing was too much trouble for this caring lady. I would like to also thank another nurse who gave my mother such great care. With the current situation, I and my sisters were allowed into her room to say our goodbyes before mum passed away; this was a great comfort to us all. My mums stay was short, but she received excellent care, which made things easier for me and my sisters. Thank you, everyone, at Erskine Hall; I hope you all stay safe and well. I would recommend Erskine Hall; my mother was very happy there.

I am completely bedridden and I find the staff willing and cheerful when bathing and dressing me. My room is pleasant and a radio and TV are laid on. Should I feel ill at any time I have a bell pull to contact the staff, who are very cheerful and kind even when putting me into a sling to get from the
bed into a wheelchair. I am very glad I came here.

This care home is a warm, welcoming environment. It's extremely clean. The care assistants work hard, also very much so with most of the duty nurses. Most problems or issues are always sorted to the best of their ability and management are very approachable, kind and caring. Food is good most of the
time. Nursing from what I can tell is good. Activities are good and help stimulate the residents. Safety is good. Overall, a very pleasing home.

Both of my parents are currently residing at Erskine Hall, my father in the dementia unit and my mother in the residential unit, both on the ground floor. I cannot recommend Erskine Hall's staff and management highly enough as they have 'moved mountains' in order to help us through very traumatic circumstances
in a very short period of time. My mother's been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour with a short life expectancy and it was her wish to spend her last months with my father, together in the same place and this has all been made possible by the kindness and professionalism shown by the staff. My father, who is bed-bound with Lewy Body Dementia, is treated with kindness and respect and the care they show him cannot be taught to anyone, it's natural. My mother is so happy here and for that, I am eternally grateful as you cannot put a price on how someone will spend the remaining time of their lives. I call all the staff there 'my angels', as that is what they are.

Our mother was at Erskine Hall Care Home for almost three years. During that time, we found the ground floor care team to be fantastic. They were totally dedicated to making sure that Mum and all of the other residents, were very well looked after, happy, safe and comfortable and that their lives were/are
as stimulating as possible.
The carers are dedicated to their residents. To them, it is not just a job. Our family are so pleased we chose Erskine Hall for our mum.

Although one can usually find things to nit-pick about, I would say Erskine Hall has to be described as a clean, well-run home with a good team that I would not hesitate to recommend and it's definitely a home I would choose to return to for respite or long stay if needed.
