Clean, tidy, friendly efficient and non-smelly. Helpful nursing and caring staff. My father says he likes the staff as they nurse him well and are friendly.

Very good. The service is wonderful. Every day you can have a shower so you feel nice and fresh. There's always some entertainment going on which you're encouraged to join in, also the food is excellent.

My mother has been in care here for several years now. Throughout her stay, we have found the staff very professional and attentive. Without their care and attention, she would probably not be around now. The home is always extremely clean and well run. As a family, we have always found everyone very friendly and helpful and would recommend Erskine Hall.

My father was in Erskine Hall for palliative care and unfortunately, passed away in January.

Whilst he was at Erskine Hall he was looked after well and the manager was very personable and friendly, all staff were helpful and he was treated very well.

Moved from hospital to this care home in November 2017 suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, anaemia and type 2 diabetes. Following an outpatient visit to the rheumatology department at the hospital, I was put on medication and this has eased the arthritic problems, enabling me to need less support from the staff. I now am able to move around fairly freely using walking poles or my zimmer frame and eat all meals in the restaurant. I am hoping to move to a flat as my mobility increases.

We are very impressed with the care and comfort given to residents in this 'care home'. My sister was looked after well. She had a lovely room looking over the gardens and was able to get out into the grounds in her wheelchair when the weather made it possible. The staff are very friendly. Plenty of activities for the residents if they wish and visitors were made very welcome.

Staff are polite and friendly despite being very busy. Staff do not seem to monitor residents to see if they are comfortable and warm enough, especially people in wheelchairs that are unable to move around to get warm.

Have to wait sometimes for prolonged periods of time for assistance to go to the toilet and then return to the chair. This takes two carers and a hoist if someone is in a wheelchair like my mum (lack of staff)?

I am very happy with the care that my husband is receiving. He has been here for nearly 3 months for palliative care. I visit most days and I am allowed to come and go as I please. The staff all know and address me by name which I think is a good indication of how good the staff are. The home is spotlessly clean. Rooms are en-suite. Beds are adjustable, without looking like a hospital.

No complaints about the care.

However, there was nobody to speak to at the dinner table, so decided to eat in my room for the rest of my stay. Felt the staff were alright, but it would have been nice to have more company during my time there, especially at the dinner table.

In the last (recent) short term stay, there have been significant improvements, which is very impressive, especially in the management team.
They showed more commitment by helping throughout the period in details and procedures and closeness.
I felt this is it, "I can now completely rely on their leading and guiding" by communicating with them without any uncertain feeling.

Thank you.

My husband spent the last week of his life being cared for at Erskine Hall, and although the staff were extremely kind and caring I did feel they were understaffed.

Our main concern was the locum from their GP surgery who attended to certify my husbands passing became unavailable and we had extreme difficulty in obtaining certificate required to register his death. After two days we had to contact the hospital from where he had been transferred to Erskine Hall, where a consultant who had cared for him was able to issue a certificate.

The building and facilities were excellent and near our residence. This was the 2nd respite stay for my husband. 1st 10 days in June were good/satisfactory and the staff knew my husband so I was encouraged to use the home again.

My husband has no speech and therefore cannot say what he feels. I felt he was too challenging for the staff and they did not care enough to make him happy. They did mostly what I asked but it took tremendous effort and anxiety on my part. He would not return and it has put him off going to a home again.

Review from Robert A (Father of Resident) published on 19 April 2017 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Our daughter was admitted into Erskine Hall in May 2016 and died in January 2017. Due to a brain and liver cancer, she was unable to look after herself and needed 24/7 care. We stayed for 2-3 days every week. Throughout her stay, our daughter (and us!!) were cared for fastidiously and lovingly by a most caring and dedicated staff, including carers and auxiliary support.

We were deeply moved and encouraged by the way all the staff constantly attended our daughter's needs (which were varied and many!). Because radiotherapy had seriously impaired her short-term memory, she was frequently emotionally upset and we were often witnessed to the quiet presence of staff who quietly sat by her and soothed her fears! We have nothing but admiration and gratitude for all the love and professional support our daughter received from the staff of Erskine Hall!

Review from Owen (Son of Resident) published on 7 November 2016 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Since my father has been in the home the level of care has reduced along with the quality of the service provided by the home. The churn of staff is very high causing a lack of continuity which is important for older people. Unfortunately, the home seems unable to keep a manager in place and despite promises of long-term commitment most managers only seem to stay for a few months. This is having an adverse effect on the level of care as each one comes in with new ideas but none ever seem to reach fulfilment and only seem to put the already overworked staff under more pressure without improving the services provided. The fees keep being increased well above the rate of inflation but this money does not seem to be going towards the food or level of care which have both deteriorated since my father first went into the home. The home has been asked to discuss theses increase but then hide behind the BUPA umbrella.

The centre is well designed, and is set in attractive and well-maintained grounds, allowing residents to enjoy the outside environment. The bedrooms are spacious, as are the functional bathrooms, and they are cleaned to a good standard. My brother's room could do with redecorating, though. The staff are friendly, cheerful, and helpful, and I like the availability of a monthly care plan review with the nominated carer. Car parking is sometimes difficult, though.

Erskine Hall Care Home provides an excellent standard of care and support. Although not her own home it provides my aunt with the next best thing. Throughout the time she has been a resident she has felt safe and well looked after. The programme of activities provided keeps her active and engaged, giving her the opportunity to interact with other residents on a daily basis, ensuring she never feels isolated.

The choice and quality of food have always been very good.

The rooms are a good size, clean and comfortable and residents are encouraged to put her own pictures on the walls making them feel as much like they are in their own homes as possible. My aunt has also had a phone installed in her room enabling her to contact friends and family whenever she wishes.

The grounds are beautiful, with established trees and seating areas in various places so residents can walk around both inside and outside in a safe environment.

Although not cheap, Erskine Hall Care Home gives good value for money.
