I have been in different hospitals and wards and when I arrived, I had an incredible experience. I could have never imagined the quality of my experience. My room is good, and so is all my care. I am helped when I need it and encouraged to do things for myself, to get stronger. The staff are so good
at their work, and they are real people, like friends. The other resident are also delightful. The whole atmosphere is incredibly good. Food good - variety and choice and individual needs and likes are met.
Reply from Fae Doherty, Senior Marketing Officer at Hatfield Nursing HomeThank you for such a lovely review - it is wonderful to hear how pleased you are with our home and the care you have received. I will be sure to pass this onto the manager and the team. Best wishes, Fae

My mother stayed to last 5 months of her life at The Hatfield Residential Home and I have nothing but praise for the care, compassion and support she received from all member so staff. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this home to others. In addition, staff were wonderful to my
father and myself. Nothing was ever too much trouble.

For 9 months, Mum was a resident at the home. After 60 years in her own house, she found a second home. Staff are superb and the care is the highest quality. When end of life care was needed, the respect and dignity shown to Mum and her family was the best.
Can give no higher praise than to say "Mum
wanted to die at home. When her time came, she was insistent that she was going nowhere as she was at home".
Mum passed away at peace and happy. Testimony to the staff.

Mum was accepted in May this year, unsure of everything. I can only say from day 1, the kindness, warmth and caring staff have made our transition easy. From manager all across the staff, they are so friendly, helpful. My aunt has been down, we were all a bit worried about her reaction. She said she
would book herself in, they are all so lovely. Thank you everyone.
Reply from Fae Doherty, Senior Marketing Officer at Hatfield Nursing HomeDear Valrie, thank you so much for your kind words. It is wonderful to hear how well your mum is settling in with us, and that family approve! Best wishes, Fae.

My mother went into Hatfield Nursing Home beginning of September 2018 and was looked after by the Camila Team.
They were the most caring team, I could have wished for. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They kept me informed in regards to her health, called doctors when needed for the four months
she was with them. They all loved her and gave the best care possible. Thank you.

First time experience of care homes. Respite care for wife/carer. Warm, friendly greeting in reception. Coffee/biscuits immediately. Clean, attractive bedroom, clean and functional. Staff exceptional, caring, attentive, a great send off with genuine hugs and cuddles. Husband looked well, clean, cared
for. He was very happy and contented.

'The sanctuary' is the home where my father went after a fall. He was bed bound and unavailable to do anything for himself. The staff were so kind to him. They were patient, considerate and respectful. They allowed him to hold onto as much dignity as possible. When the time came to inform us he was
close to dying, they were so compassionate to us and made a harrowing experience more manageable. I would recommend this home wholeheartedly to anyone considering it.

My mother was a resident for almost 3 years.
Unfortunately, the last few weeks have been horrid for her and she passed away on 14th July.
The staff, without exception, were wonderful and treated mother with care, compassion and dignity.
They were also very helpful in the aftermath of her death, for
which we thank them.

My mother was a resident at Hatfield Residential Home for the last two years of her life. I was very satisfied with the care and affection she received from all the staff and their genuine humanity and care for her. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and at no time did I have any concerns about
my mother's safety or security which enabled her to pass away with dignity.

My nan came to Hatfield Residential and Nursing Home after a spell in the hospital, first for residential care and later for the nursing end of life care. From the day she arrived until her peaceful end she was treated with the highest level of dignity, respect, care and compassion. It allowed precious
time for my mum and aunt to be loving daughters and enjoy their visit knowing my nan was well cared for. I am so thankful we found this care home and for everything they have done for my nan and all the family.

My mother is being cared for in the most dignified and sensitive way during the final stage of her life.
It is not easy for relatives, friends and of course residents at this time, but I am comforted by the care and support the home and its staff have given me.

Mum came to Hatfield after a spell in hospital. We are so glad we have found such a caring, friendly home. Mum has settled in so quickly - the staff are so thoughtful. Even when Mum needed to change from residential to nursing care we didn't have to worry. Nothing is too much trouble at this lovely
home. Thank you all so much.

I have visited the home 3 times in all. I went with a mutual friend to visit a resident, also a friend to both of us. We were welcomed and shown where to go, what code to use for various areas and offered an escort. We spent a very pleasant hour with our friend who seemed very content and pleased to
see us. We were treated to fresh tea and cake, which was most enjoyable. Our friend seemed very satisfied with the aspects of care received in your home.

Hatfield Residential, run by Sanctuary, provided end of life care to my mother-in-law after the care home she had been in for over 5 years closed. This was a distressing time for all and the staff at Sanctuary could not have been more supportive. The home itself is well maintained and her room was lovely,
bright and decorated like a home rather than a hospital. We felt she was treated with dignity and respect throughout. We always felt very comfortable visiting her as the home has a lovely relaxed feel. All of the staff have been really helpful throughout everything: from helping us as we searched for a new home for her to getting her moved and settled then sadly dealing with her passing when the time came and even since.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.875)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.875) out of 10 for Hatfield Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 34 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.875 for Hatfield Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (361 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 401 Ratings = 4.875
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hatfield Nursing Home is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 118 registered maximum number of service users is 23.6, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
