Hatfield Residential and Nursing Home provides award-winning compassionate care for residential, dementia and nursing needs.

The purpose-built modern interior offers residents spacious, private bedrooms with ensuite facilities, as well as plenty of communal spaces to enjoy, including a pub, a movie room, a retro sweet shop, a cafe area, a hairdressing salon and a large enclosed wheelchair-friendly garden.

In November 2024, the homes' deputy manager was awarded the Compassion Award for Residential Care at the Hertfordshire Care Awards.

Mother has recently moved into Hatfield Residential and Nursing Home and has been here for just over a month.
There is a warm and friendly atmosphere when you walk in.
The management and staff have made the transition very easy for us all and mother is now settled and happy. Her room is well maintained
and she has been able to have some of her own possessions around her.
The staff are caring, sympathetic and respectful towards the residents. The layout and security are very good also.

My Grandma received exemplary care while she stayed at Hatfield care home. Although being bed-bound and having advanced dementia, she was always given lots of time and the carers were always thoughtful to her needs, which showed by how there was always her favourite Irish music playing in her room,
a love that stayed with her to the very end. The staff were always very kind and compassionate to Grandma, and to us when we visited and were always friendly and welcoming. Grandma was always well cared for: she was well fed and was always clean when we went in to visit her. The same goes for her bedding and blankets - whenever they were dirty they were changed. I cannot stress how lovely a place this is for someone to spend their last years, and how well cared for they will be.

My mother has been in your care home since March 2017. On the whole, I consider that she has received very good care and I commend all staff for their professionalism and efforts on the residents' behalf. I would certainly recommend this Sanctuary Care Home to anyone in need of their services.

Very warm inviting environment. My friend was very comfortable and well cared for during her time. She was able to have pictures from her house put up on the wall to make it feel homely.
All the carers had plenty of time for her and nothing was too much trouble.

Very good level of care. The staff were very efficient and caring. On all my visits I saw staff carrying out their tasks and looking after my mother.

We looked at a number of homes over a 24 hour period and this was the last home we looked at. Immediately, we felt comfortable, the tour of the home was very informative and you got the feeling of pride and caring from the lady who showed us round. Whilst my mother-in-law was at the home, she was extremely
well cared for. All members of staff had time for her and us. We were happy she was cared for so well at the end of her life.

The personal one to one care on a daily basis my dad received was brilliant. It was always with compassion, care and professionalism. From a family perspective, it gave us great peace of mind to know that he was safe and receiving great care, also as a family we were made very welcome, anytime we visited.


My only suggestion for improvement is the poor carpark.

My mother spent the last year of her life in Hatfield Care Home. The staff could not have done more for her during that time.
The care and compassion that every member of staff showed was exceptional.
Mum was confined to bed and when visiting, I regularly found a member of staff with her - talking
to her, stimulating her with music and showing her that they really cared.
Despite having severe dementia, making communication difficult, the staff treated her with such dignity and kindness that she really responded to them and it was obvious that she felt safe and secure. She was very happy and for me too it was a pleasure to visit the home.
Hatfield Care Home is exceptional.

Having been in residential care for some years and then needing dementia nursing care, mum, fortunately, moved to Hatfield Residential and Nursing Home for the last year of her life. Having had care home comparison, I can confirm that the excellent care offered to mum in Hatfield Residential and Nursing
Home deserves special recognition. The staff truly understand dementia and the need of the residents are therefore catered for accordingly. Mum was always clean, well fed with appropriate food (e.g. Sandwiches softened with soup for tea) and although unable to speak we could all tell mum was always very happy and content, which was a great comfort to the family. Carers spent time with mum on a 1:1 basis stimulating her with music that she loved. The management and staff always made the family feel extremely welcome and so it was a pleasure to visit regularly. I have no hesitation in recommending the care home and its dedicated staff to families looking for dementia care.

The care is good, but not when my wife is removed from her bed at midnight to go to the hospital as a non-urgent case.
The continuity of senior and junior staff is important for the relationship of staff to residents.

My mother has just passed away, having had Alzheimer's for many years and been looked after atSanctury Home, Hatfield. My wife and I cannot say a big enough thank you for how grateful we were for the consideration they gave into looking after our Mum. They were also kind and considerate and appeared
to anticipate mum's needs at all times. They also considered ours as well. We shall miss not coming to the home to see everyone. As for as we are concerned, you have a very special team in Hatfield home. Thank you to all of you. Wishing you all the best for the future.

I have worked at Hatfield for over 9 years, progressing from a carer, to senior carer, deputy manager and into my current role as Home Manager. I am responsible for ensuring the safety, care and comfort of our residents as well as supporting my staff.


My proudest moment to date is winning the Compassion Award for Residential Care at the 2024 Hertfordshire Care Awards.
