Premier Court is set in a very peaceful countryside location within Bishop’s Stortford. It provides a full range of residential and nursing care.

They’re here when you and your loved ones need them most. For planned respite or last- minute trips. A safe space to recover after an operation. To experience what their home’s like before moving long- term. To just relax. Whatever the reason, their doors are open.

A modern, purpose-built home, Premier Court has comfortable ensuite single bedrooms and attractive décor. The home features well-furnished lounge areas where residents can relax and socialise, there is also an onsite hair salon and the homes very own tea room for all to enjoy.

The home benefits from lots of outside space with courtyard gardens for family and friends to use whenever they come to visit. The home is also wheelchair accessible throughout.

Enjoying food is an important part of life. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients. Soon after a resident arrives at the home, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

There’s a real sense of community at Premier Court. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. So whether loved ones already have a hobby or would like to take up a new one, there are lots of exciting activities to get involved in.

The activities calendar includes arts and crafts, music, flower arranging and gardening. Visiting entertainers often perform, and residents can enjoy outings to garden centres, shopping trips or places of interest.

I was unable to take care of my mother and was eventually told that a place was available at Premier Court Nursing Home in Thorley, Bishop's Stortford. My mother was made welcome the moment she arrived even though she was too ill to realise it, the staff were very welcoming and very sympathetic towards
her health which had deteriorated very quickly. The staff made us feel at ease with their very caring attitude. They tried to get her to eat and drink and kept her comfortable calling into her room each time they passed showing their concern. They kept her clean and tidy eager to give advice on how she was. My mother was improving slightly but unfortunately, she couldn't carry on and she passed away on the 9th of June 2022, the last 34 days before her 101 birthday. We just wish we could have placed her there sooner. So friendly, caring, clean and welcoming. Thank you for all you did.
Reply from David Mclean, Customer Service Adviser at Premier Court Care HomeThank you for taking the time to leave your review. We hope Premier Court care home did everything possible to make the transition as easy as possible. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your mother in our care. We are saddened to hear about your loss. Hopefully, you will go away from this feeling like your loved one received the best possible care.

My mum went into Premier Court in February 2022 as she is no long longer fit enough to stay in her own home. We as a family are very happy with the care mum has received and seems very happy. All the staff are very caring and approachable if needed. The atmosphere at Premier Court is very warm!

My grandmother has been a resident for approx 6 months now, and we are very happy with the care that she has received. All the staff are friendly and caring, the home is very well run, and there is always someone on hand to assist if you need it. I would definitely recommend Premier Court Care Home.
There is also weekly entertainment varying from singers, piano players, bingo and arts and crafts. Thank you for looking after my 99-year-old nana for us; we are confident that she is in safe and caring hands.
Reply from David Mclean, Customer Service Adviser at Premier Court Care HomeThank you for your kind words. In my opinion, the staff and management did everything to make my father-in-law's final two years of his life happy and comfortable to whom I am extremely grateful. If I was to suggest anything it would be a lick of paint in the rooms.

We couldn't wish for a better care home for Granddad. They made him so comfortable up until his last days. Staff are very welcoming, COVID rules always well organised and the activity schedules for the residents are amazing.
The care home is always clean and staff would go above and beyond to make
it feel like the resident's home. Would recommend to anyone.

Mum has now been a resident for 2 years. She has been through 2 full lockdowns, survived Covid and celebrated her 90th birthday today. As Covid is still circulating, BUPA rules dictate that only her essential caregiver can visit, but several of the staff and the entertainment manager took the time to
join me to celebrate with her, for which I am so grateful. All the staff at Premier are wonderful and I am so glad she chose to move here. Thank you.

My Dad was a resident at Premier Court Care Home for the last 6 weeks of his life. The staff were excellent at all times, kind, caring and professional, and communicated well with us. We felt very much part of a team caring for my Dad which gave us immense peace of mind. The staff were very kind and
caring to us too and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Premier Court to my friends and family.

My partner was admitted to Premier Court on palliative care, where he was looked after by the excellent staff and management during his brief stay there. They afforded him a comfortable and safe end to his days, and above all in his final moments in beautiful peaceful surroundings. I cannot thank them
enough for going out of their way to make me feel comfortable during each visit and gave me much needed reassurance about his passing. Thank you for your dedication Premier Court.

Totally recommend Premier Court Care Home - From the first time I stepped foot inside the home on a busy family-filled Sunday, all of the staff I met were very helpful and friendly, they made a very hard upsetting decision/situation very easy for me. As soon as I met them and looked around, I knew my
mum would be very happy there. It’s coming up 6-years that my mum has lived at the home, and I can honestly say she has had the best care I could have ever had wanted for her. All the staff make you feel welcome any time you go there, and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are very clean, the food is lovely, and they have plenty of activities going on. They are very organised with the doctor or hospital visits, even at one of my mum's hospital visits, the surgeon was very impressed with how my mum had been cared for.
What else can I say other than it’s the best home and only home I would ever have my mum live in! Thank you to all the staff for making my mum live happily.

My mother has been at Premier Court since August 2017, I have been happy with the care that my mum has been given. Any concerns I have had with anything have always been sorted out. With regret, I feel let down and disappointed. Distinct lack of communication at all levels. My mother was unwell and subsequently diagnosed with Covid-19 on both occasions we were not informed! We found out by chance, can you imagine my sadness and anguish? The story is more involved and I have other
concerns but the breakdown in communication I fear may be a symptom of a different problem.

I would like to congratulate Premier Court on their handling of the Covid pandemic. I felt they were doing all that was possible to keep residents safe and well under extremely difficult conditions.
I have left two of the categories blank, this is because I think they can only be answered by a resident
rather than a visitor.

The staff are friendly and helpful, especially in regards to her appetite. She is now eating more. In the Covid crisis, they could not have done more to minimise the risk and keep everyone safe. The overall atmosphere of the home is cheerful - all the staff are friendly and positive in their attitude. Residents are very much treated as individuals with their own needs, likes and dislikes. I have been particularly impressed with how the home has dealt with the Covid-19 outbreak, implementing
procedures and keeping the residents safe.
The only negative is that the rooms are a bit small.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.779)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.779) out of 10 for Premier Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 30 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.779 for Premier Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (288 Excellents x 5) + (59 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 357 Ratings = 4.779
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Premier Court Care Home is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 59 registered maximum number of service users is 11.8, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
