Overall Experience
My Mum has been in Orchards house care for nearly a year now and this time the level of care and support she has received has been amazing to the point of improving mums diabetes and now she no longer needs insulin and she can now eat and drink by herself again and this is all due to the care and support she has received from the staff.
My mum is so happy and settled at The Orchards her face lights up when she see's the carers enter her room.
All my mums needs are met, she nee is enjoying daily activities again which is making a huge difference to her general wellbeing.
I can't ask for more, all the team I meet are always so friendly, helpful and caring, the communication is good between the Management and Myself as I'm always kept up to date with everything.

The home is so friendly and inviting and I would happy recommend Orchard House to anyone looking for care.

My Father in law recently stayed at the care home for a one-week respite stay, and we were extremely pleased with the care and support he received.
When he first arrived he was a little unsure as he had been in hospital for a few weeks . The staff were welcoming, friendly, and professional. They took the time to get to know my Father in laws needs. The standard of care was excellent throughout the stay, and it was reassuring to know he was in such capable hands.
The home was very clean, welcoming and had a warm, homely atmosphere. Staff were attentive, kind, and always willing to help. The activities that were available each day were very varied.
Communication with the family was also very good, giving us peace of mind while he was there.

Thank you to all the staff at Orchard House . .

I am very impressed with the progress that my sister has made as a result of the care and encouragement and support of the staff. Living far away it is good to know she is in safe hands and that her needs are being met effectively. The communication from the home is very good by telephone. The staff were particularly kind of her Birthday. Her mental state has improved significantly. Thank you.

I went in to The Orchard after a major operation (surgery) in Southampton. I had 2 weeks respite care and was very well looked after by Nursing staff and carers - plus others behind scenes.

They were always very cheerful and smiling.

From entering the 'Orchards' I'm greeted with warmth, care, empathy and compassion from reception staff, manager/deputy. I walk through highly secure corridoor to Bluebell unit where my end of life husband is being so very well cared for. All the staff I meet on route greet me with a smile and are welcoming. Makes me feel cared for too. The area is clean, tidy and no awful smells. My husbands room is bright/airy/well kept. He was enjoying looking out at birds and change in weather untill his health decline. His care needs are extensive and met with compassion/empathy from carers and nurses. I have found all staff at Orchards fully commited to there tasks. I leve the Orchards knowing my husband is in safe hands

Thank you.

Our experience with Orchard House has been nothing short of exceptional. From the moment my partner A arrived, it's clear that she is in a place of genuine care, professionalism & compassion.
Kim, Emma & the team go consistantly above and beyond. Their kindness, patience & attention to detail make and enormous difference. Not only to A's comfort & wellbeing, but also to our peace of mind during this new experience for us. Every interaction is handled with warmth, respect, and clear communication, creating an environment that feels safe, supportive & dignified.

The teams dedication & empathy truly stands out. It's clear that Orchard House set an incredibly high standard, and we are deeply grateful for their support provided. Visitors to A have also commented on the above. Would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking outstanding care.

This was my husband Colins first time in respite and it generally went well. He did become confused, particularly with different staff coming and going. I believe the care he received was good. Clothing went missing but was found. I left bags for clothing to come home but these weren't used. I would like him to have been encouraged to participate more in activities and to go out on trips that were organised. A first time experience we have nothing to compare against. Thank you.

From my initial telephone enquiry & viewing of the available room I was treated in a friendly and professional manner.
I was in respite care for 1 week following a total knee replacement.
The care and attention from all staff was excellent.
The food was excellent & although I ate in my room the dining room was welcoming.

I did not take part in any activities.

I visited with a friend who had been at school with my sister-in-law, which was good for her. Recognised herself in a school photo.
Concerned about my sister-in-law's chestiness and spoke to nurse about this. Action and contact with the doctor is in hand. I hope the virus or treatment can soon start.

As far as I can tell, good care by nursing staff.

My mother spent the last two months of her life at Barchester Orchard House Care Home. I could not fault the care that she received or the support we were given, as a family. She had a beautiful room overlooking lawns and trees (such a relief after a view of a brick wall in her previous care home). Everything was clean, comfortable and modern. Every effort was made to find food and drinks that my mother enjoyed and her visitors were grateful for the excellent coffee and teas which were available in the foyer. I felt that the home had exactly the right balance of checking that my mother was as comfortable as could be expected whilst giving my family privacy to be with her in her final days. She was treated with the utmost respect and compassion throughout her stay and I was kept up to date about her declining health from the outstanding nurses. It was particularly reassuring to have a named nurse and carer who we could ask for advice and information. My family are so grateful to the whole team.

My father passed away last December and I am so grateful that he was able to die peacefully at The Orchards which he thought of as home. He had lived there for almost 8 years and was happy. Dad celebrated his 100th birthday there and staff provided a fantastic buffet and made the whole family welcome. In fact, the staff were wonderful and always willing to help. For example, when he became bedridden in his last year, Dad was unable to reach the treats kept in his drawer. I mentioned this to the receptionist who immediately had a sign made reminding staff to ask if he wanted any of his sweets or whisky. Dad enjoyed his meals and continued to do so when he needed help eating and drinking.

The staff, management, house, carers, nurses, activities, are a well-integrated team. The team looked after me well, I was at the Barchester Orchard House Care Home to recuperate from a hip replacement operation and to give my wife a rest from looking after me. (Two weeks). The shower in my room could not be easily used because the entire floor flooded. To read I needed a strong light which was not installed.
