All staff are a committed team who work hard to ensure that provisions are tailored to the individual resident, while allowing them to make the most of a relaxed and homely atmosphere. The ground floor of the home has five separate communal areas for residents to enjoy at their leisure and choice. There are three garden, encompassing a sensory garden, courtyard garden and wildlife garden with accessible enclosed decking area where residents can sit and hopefully catch a glimpse of the local red squirrel family. In 2017 the home won the 'Wight in Bloom' for the sensory beach garden.
All staff are carefully chosen and well-qualified to achieve the best standards, with the company philosophy focusing on an attentive service that also supports an active lifestyle. Personal interests are encouraged and there is much to enjoy within the life of the home.
The aim is to meet all residents’ needs whether short or long-term, living up to a reputation for quality that Barchester homes have earned.

My friend was a resident at the home and every time I visited the staff were friendly and very helpful. My friend made a lot of new friends whilst he was there and spoke very highly of everyone. The place was always clean and well-presented.

Not able to use the activities as yet so unable to comment. My six days here so far have been very pleasant. If I needed ongoing care and had to sell my house I would have no hesitation to come here.

The team at Barchester Orchard House have been fantastic with my nan. Covid has been a challenge as we could not visit, but we have had regular contact with Nan over the phone and the team have been looking after her well, ensuring she felt cared for and safe during a very scary time.

Hello, my name is Becky, and I am the Head of the Unit for Valentine. I have worked at Orchard House for nearly 10 years. I’ve been a nurse for 29 years and previously worked in the hospital. I saw an advert on the fencing of Orchard House stating they were recruiting nurses, and I thought I needed a change, so I popped in and look around. Next thing I know, I am working here at Orchard House and never looked back. My journey with Orchard House started back in 2018 when I joined as a General Assistant. Over time, my passion for cooking grew stronger.
I completed the Envy Q3 Chef Training Programme at Barchester.
Not long after, I stepped up as Second Chef, which gave me the chance to really develop my skills in the kitchen.
In 2024, I was honoured to take on the role of Head Chef, and I’m excited to lead our fantastic kitchen team.
