This relates to one specific experience amongst several.

Following hospital appointment for dental extractions, the family received no follow up on how things had progressed. I called in to find out, to be told the carer had accompanied the resident had been told specifically not to contact the family, all of whom have POA.

Lack of staff causing standards to go down and poor management relations with staff and relatives.
Dangerous chair provided for resident.

This is one incident and happy to discuss further.

Advice from the care nurse ignored management. Desk very good at weekends. Helpful and efficient.

Overall I am pleased with the care I received. Everybody was very helpful, including tea at 4 in the morning when I couldn't sleep. I understand that caring for so many patients is difficult most of whom somewhat elderly. Possibly a little more fresh fruit for breakfast or an alternative to the heavier puddings. I did find the soup was delicious with the sandwiches for tea. Thank you all for looking after me, and all the physio staff who helped me walk again. All in all a good experience and I wouldn't hesitate recommending you to anyone.

I have been in hospital a few times but never a nursing home only as a visitor to see my late brother and was not impressed, so when I broke my my hip and wrist and was told I was going to Springfield for rehab I didn't know what to expect! But this is home from home. I could not have been treated better everything is perfect, care, food, treatment, the staff, cleanliness etc. The carers cannot do enough for you and go above and beyond their duties to help. As I said to one the other day if you gave me a sheet of blank paper to list my complaints I would return it back blank because there is nothing to complain about at all, thank you all everybody, keep up the good work. And I hope what I have written is proof of how sincere I am, I cannot thank you enough.

My mum has unfortunately passed, but in the short time (12 months) she was in your care she was treated with kindness and dignity. She enjoyed all activities until she became to frail to attend. Overall a good experience. Very professional. Great help from management. For my mum's dementia probably not the right place at that time. But she enjoyed all the food and friendliness of the staff. She has many demons which were still present at the care home. She also had to move rooms from upstairs to downstairs which didn't help. She has gone home now from respite. Would highly recommend.

I have been looked after extremely well!! I have loved my stay here!! So much so that I didn't want to go! The care staff are excellent! They made me feel most welcome and at home here at Springfields. I will miss everyone here! I wish they could come home with me lol. The foods been very good too - I loved the chicken & leek pie! I loved two staff members in particular they made me feel so important and another particular staff member made me laugh!

Thank you for everything. I didn't see much of the management here.

From the moment I was wheeled through the doors of Springfield, I was made to feel instantly at ease. Everybody was more than friednly and welcoming.
My room was clean and tidy and well, the equipment provided was of a high standard. Although cubist and floral fabrics don't complement each other...

All Springfield people are simply wonderful, helpful, caring and go above and beyond to ensure clients are never without the required medication and comforts that are so essential to their stay and recovery.

My husband has been a resident at the nursing home since August 2023. He feels safe and well looked after. The staff understand his needs and they create a caring, friendly relationship with him. During November I spent just over 2 weeks at Springfield, after breaking my left hip in a fall and spending 10 days in hospital.
My room at Springfield was comfortable and practical with good ensuite.
The care was always kind, and helpful, and nothing too much trouble.
The food was very enjoyable, and very attractively served at a nice dining table.

I was benefitting from a rehab scheme bed (NHS) and was constantly aided by the physio team. From being in such pain, discomfort, and immobility on arrival, think I improved a little every day. I will always be most grateful.

Natalie FieldingJob Title:Home ManagersJoined: 2026

Joining Springfield Nursing home in January 2026 was a fantastic start to the New Year. The home has a lovely, calm and welcoming feel, and this is matched by the committed and hard-working staff team.

The best part about being the manager here is that I have the privilege of leading a home that already enjoys a long-established reputation for delivering high-quality, person-centred care. It really is just a case of ensuring we are continually striving for excellence, whilst never losing sight of why we are here, doing what we do.

The people who call Springfield their home will always be at the heart of everything we do, and that will never change. If you come in, please find me to say hello. We can have a cake and a chat! Two of my favourite things.

Tom Langley
Tom LangleyJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2024

I'm Tom, and I am the deputy manager at Springfield Nursing Home where I have recently joined at the end of 2024.

My healthcare career began when I was 18 as a care assistant in a nursing home and a specialist dementia home, and I progressed to a nurse some years later. My experience in emergency nursing and community nursing has been invaluable to my role in management, and I continuously strive to develop my own skills further.

I am proud to be part of such an exceptional team that always has the resident's interests at heart. The values set out by Hartford Care are reflected wonderfully in the day-to-day lives of the residents here at Springfield and I feel privileged to play a role in that journey every day.
