Manju and her team of nurses, carers are always friendly, kind, helpful and supportive. They understand each resident is an individual and has their own personal characteristics and needs.
Communications are responded efficiently and professionally. Visitors are always welcome, and the team are always
flexible to visitors needs.

Choosing a nursing home for your loved one is an incredibly daunting situation to be in. My family viewed a number of homes when deciding where best to place our Grandmother who needed palliative care. When we viewed Chestfield House we all agreed almost immediately that it was the best place to care
for Grandma. It is the staff that make this place stand out. The manager, nurses and all of the staff were so warm, kind, professional and knowledgable. Importantly, they were always available to speak to in person or on the phone. They really listened to us and responded to Grandma's complex needs, treating her with such care. When she reached the end of her life, staff were so compassionate to us as a family and to Grandma.
The nursing home itself feels like a home. There are lots activities to participate in, both as residents and family/friends. Food was always of good quality.
These are staff who genuinely care and I actually miss seeing them every day.

The care provided by Chestfield House nursing home, both to my mum in her final few months and to us as a family, has been excellent. The staff are very caring and committed. This positive staff culture undoubtedly comes from the top, Manju the Manager. We saw this in practice with how she is creates
a respectful and even fun atmosphere for staff (e.g. Curry Lunch event - staff brought in food, dressed, danced for residents etc) - but always with a steely eye on patient/resident care. You can tell that she, and the whole staff, take pride in their jobs. I also discovered that several staff have been there for many years which, in his sector, is unusual and a very good sign.

The building isn't the most modern or purpose built, although rooms are light and relatively large. But the staff care is what really matters. We'd visited others locally when choosing a home, and this one stood out with its friendly and positive atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Mum was only at Chestfield House for a few months but in that time she received the care, compassion and dignity we hoped for. All the staff, from the managers down, treated our whole family with genuine kindness and respect at what was a very difficult time. We can never thank them enough and would
not hesitate to recommend Chestfield House.

My mum went into Chestfield House in March 2025 for palliative care. The staff are all amazing and made myself and family so welcome. We couldn't have asked for better care for our mum, when mum passed away there in August 2025 the staff were so supportive and caring. Thank you all so, so much.

Lovely warm friendly staff - nice location and property. My mother received excellent care. We valued the fact that we could visit her at any time, and being local, this meant that we could call regularly. Mum was always well-presented, which meant a lot to us.

My father was admitted to Chestfield House many months ago for end-of-life care after the hospital stopped all his medication and discharged him. From the time he arrived he has received great care and gradually gained weight and improved health, though still frail. The Manager and staff are so attentive
and empathetic. My wife and I feel they are all friends now after many visits. The staff are all welcoming and cheer my father up with cheeky banter which he can dish out himself too. Dad is kept warm and comfortable and he raves about the food, even saying the roast potatoes are the best he's ever had! The meals are so much better than hospital food which is great to know. We cannot thank the manager, the Nurses and all the other staff enough for how they are looking after Dad and his needs. Regarding my individual gradings, the only fours are because his room is a little small and for some reason always at least 25 degrees or more, but no big problem.
Cannot fault anything else.

My 93yr old Mother was a resident from May 2024 until February 2025 and over that period the manager and all her team at Chestfield House have been simply marvelous with their kind, attentive and sympathetic care they provide.
There are no visiting times, just turn up when ever you want (if late at
night let them know), with this in mind, mum was always dressed, washed and in clean bedding right up to the end. Through Mum's health ups and downs, the staffs and doctors communication has from day one been excellent, we never felt out of the loop.
Thank you for everything.

I would like to thank all of the staff for their kindness, dedication and professionalism while caring for my late father. His stay was short but at that time he was clean and tidy with fresh clothes every day, and his room was always clean. I would also like to thank them for their friendliness and
patience with us both. I was able to visit any time during the day which was a huge bonus. It is extremely well run and the staff and management should be very proud of themselves.

My father is a resident at Chestfield house since February 2019, even though his quality of life has diminished through old age and his medical condition over the years, the care he receives at the home is excellent. He is always clean and tidy, the clothes are laundered and returned promptly. His dietary
needs are meet and reviewed regularly. All the facilities and residents rooms are clean and tidy, they may be a little dated in decor, but very homely rather then being like a hotel room that you would visit whilst taking a holiday, you are allowed to bring your own personal belongings to help make it more personal to each individual resident. The staff are very caring, accommodating and friendly, nothing is too much trouble, there are regular activities for the residents to join in if they wish to, majority of the staff have been their since my father arrived, so that alone speaks volumes. The home is very family orientated you can visit or ring anytime.

Mum was in Chestfield House for a month before she sadly passed away. Her room was clean, comfortable and we were allowed to bring anything we wanted in to personalise it. The manager, and her staff were caring, respectful and kind to mum and all her family members, who were made to feel welcome any
time. Mum's personal care was excellent and every day her clothes were changed, laundered and returned.
Overall I was very happy with the care mum received and would recommend Chestfield House to anyone looking for a nursing home. At a difficult time, the manager and the staff made sure mum was as comfortable as possible and I am very grateful for that.

The care, kindness and compassion cannot be faulted. The staff have a difficult job, but showed nothing but gentleness and thoughtfulness throughout. I can never thank them enough for looking after my poorly mother and supporting me as well. With regard to accommodation, to be honest, the home is in
need of updating in respect of furniture, sleeping etc. Overall, I am very happy with the care my mother received in the final days of her life. The staff deserve a medal.

My mother-in-law, sadly, died on 1st October at the grand old age of 104!! She had been a resident in Chesterfield House for nearly 6 years. She arrived in December 2018 for end of life care. But the staff had other ideas and within a year she had gained weight and was happy and definitely, thankfully,
was nowhere near end of life. The management and nursing teams made her last years so full and happy. She loved every minute she was there and loved every member of staff. I really cannot thank them enough for the unbelievable work they do. Long may it continue.

The manager and staff were friendly, caring and supportive, could not do more for my mum while she was there under palliative care. While the staff were excellent, I feel the whole building could do with a complete upgrade, although I felt comfortable that my mother was secure. Can't praise the staff

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.758)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.758) out of 10 for Chestfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 42 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.758 for Chestfield House is calculated as follows: ( (372 Excellents x 5) + (91 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 475 Ratings = 4.758
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chestfield House is based on 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 31 registered maximum number of service users is 6.2, which has been reached with 42 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
