My mother spent the last 15 months of her life being cared for by the lovely staff at Chestfield House. They treated her with dignity and managed to meet her regular demands with patience and humour, they allowed her to personalise her time by letting have her own coffees and soups, and most importantly
butter for her toast!
She had her wall with pictures etc.
I only have praise for them all! Thank you for making her so comfortable

On the occasions I visited the staff were always polite, friendly and helpful. They tried their best if there was a particular dietary request made by my stepmother. We were always offered a drink and staff tried to find extra chairs for visitors when needed. The room was kept clean and tidy and staff
tried to make my step-mum as comfortable as possible.

We chose Chestfield House from a limited list of homes able to provide continuing health care for our dad’s final days, following a stay in the hospice. We knew he was dying imminently and it was very important to us that he was not alone when he passed away. Staff ensured this was the case, allowing
us to come and go as necessary, when we felt he was close to the end. For this, I am truly grateful and I commend them for their care, kindness and compassion. We did come across one member of staff whom I would say was ‘difficult’, but then, there is always one! The room was a bit tired, but in general, the home was warm, clean and comfortable. Dad (and his visitors) were made to feel welcome and most importantly, staff ensured Dad passed away with dignity and free of pain. We could not have asked for more. The manager was just so lovely to us. I can’t thank her enough.

My mum first found it difficult as her independence had now ceased due to her health. My mum found the staff friendly and helpful and this helped her transition. She said the food was OK, but hated the toast cold, but loved her hot coffee which the staff made sure was to her liking, the staff worked
very hard to make my mum comfortable and to ensure her food was nice. My mum always was glamorous and the staff helped my mum with her hair and makeup. I would say Mum was quite happy as the staff would come and chat with her which she enjoyed and the staff made all her visitors very welcome. I personally found all the staff lovely, friendly and helpful. The room was standard clean but maybe needed a coat of paint and new blinds to make it more homely.

My mother was a resident from mid-January 2023 until her recent passing. The shortest review would be to say that when my time comes I hope that I can go to a home that is identical to Chestfield House and is run by the current team.
Everyone is so very professional but to me, even more important,
friendly and approachable.
I'm so pleased with the kindness and dignity our Mum received during her visit. Mum always felt safe and we knew she was being looked after with care and compassion.

My dad stayed here when he had cancer and was very weak and fragile, however, all the staff were very caring and attentive and looked after him very well.
His room was bright, clean and had a good view. Parking when visiting was not a worry. As a family, we were glad to have chosen Chestfield house
for him, he was comfortable and was taken excellent care of.
I wish to express my gratitude to the manager and everyone at Chesterfield House.

The manager and her team of professional carers have provided my mother an exemplary standard of care over the past thirty months. Every member of the team is approachable and friendly, including all the auxiliary staff and those providing additional services such as hair care and chiropodists. Mum
is always clean and well presented on our visits and has a happy disposition. Communication with Chestfield House is excellent!

My father needed twenty-four hour care. The care home made my father very welcome and made him very comfortable. Care they gave him was outstanding. When my mother visited my father they made her feel very comfortable with the place and gave her time to talk about his needs etc. Staff were very good.
Please give this place some thoughts for your loved ones. A very big thank you to them all. My father passed away and support the staff gave was brilliant. Well done to this care home. Many thanks.

The care home stepped in when my father was terminally ill and we were unable to treat Dad at home. Within 24 hours of asking for help, my father was settled into the home and was receiving excellent treatment and was stabilised. Instantly we could see that the staff were caring, professional and competent
to look after Dad’s needs. Although Dad’s time at the nursing home was short, it made an incredible difference to Dad’s end of life journey. I cannot thank the staff enough for this.

My brother was transferred from the hospital as he needed 24-hour care but this is an environment that was more like a home. Although very sick he enjoyed being able to have pictures and photographs around him, reminding him of his loving family. the home has an atmosphere of peace and love. You could
not fault any member of staff who were all very caring and respectful to both my brother and all his visitors. I can honestly say that nothing was ever too much trouble. My sincere thanks for all you did for my brother.

I cannot thank the staff and the care home manager enough for all the care and attention given to my mum over the last 5 years and in particular the last few weeks of her life. My mum was bedridden, vulnerable and in the early days she was very confused but throughout her time there, she was treated
with great care and attention.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.803)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.803) out of 10 for Chestfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 42 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.803 for Chestfield House is calculated as follows: ( (392 Excellents x 5) + (78 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 478 Ratings = 4.803
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chestfield House is based on 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 31 registered maximum number of service users is 6.2, which has been reached with 42 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
