My husband received the most excellent care at this nursing home. The staff allowed me to visit at any time. When my husband was dying the care could not have been better. He was treated gently and with dignity. His family were able to be with him until the end. For this, we are truly grateful.
Thank
you to staff and the manager, so helpful and kind to me during this sad time.

My stepfather spent the last months of his life there and we could not have asked for better care. The home was spotless (and did not smell!) and the staff courteous, respectful, caring and kind to the end. It was always nice to see the more active residents smiling...that was one of the first things
we noticed when we visited.

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and at a difficult time for the family, they took an enormous burden off our shoulders.

Thank you.

My mother has been in Chestfield House for 7 years and 2 of those are borrowed time. The staff take great care of my mother and if it wasn't for the good team the manager has around her my mother would not still be with me. They are very caring and are always there for me as well.

Always clean, very helpful. Any information was given when required. When our loved one was ill a doctor was available immediately. The food was amazing and he had planned activities booked.

My parent has been in this home for a year and the care has been fantastic. My parent is bed bound but has no evidence of developing any form of pressure sore. The skin is intact not even scuffed a true feat of excellent nursing care.

My wife spent just a few weeks in Chestfield House before she passed away. In the time she was in their care, she received outstanding treatment and nothing was too much trouble for all the staff to make her final days as comfortable as possible.

After over 18 months care I am very happy with how my father is being looked after. The staff are consistently friendly, helpful and responsive to our requests. My father can exhibit challenging behaviour and the staff I have come in contact with appear to be very kind and empathetic towards his needs.
His en-suite room is the minimum size. Father chooses to avoid joining in with others despite valiant efforts on behalf of staff.

The care provided to my Nan by the team at Chestfield House is second to none. Since she moved into the home 6 months ago I have always been struck by the friendliness and level of care that my she has received.

Prior to arriving at Chestfield House my Nan had been in other care homes and her experience

had not been great. I am pleased to say that all this changed when she arrived at Chestfield. She is so well cared for, both emotionally and physically and is the happiest I have seen her in years.

Thank you to everyone at Chestfield House for the work you do to look after my Nan and all your other residents. It is rare to find such excellent all round care and I am delighted that my Nan is looked after by you all.

Thank you from a very grateful family.

My mum has been in Chesterfield House just over two years, she is well cared for in every way. Good food, good personal care, the staff are very good with her, she has dementia, they are patient and kind. The manager is very easy to talk to and understanding. I never worry that mum is ok because she
is always happy, they have got to know mum and her ways and care accordingly. Very pleased.

A well run home that responds quickly to difficulties that arise from unplanned absenteeism. There is a core team of experienced carers who provide nursing cover at short notice when required. Food is provided by an experienced chef, but quality is influenced adversely at times by the suppliers selection
of produce of which she has no control. The level and style of activities provided appear adequate for residents needs.

My uncle who is a disabled war veteran, fought with the Parachute regiment at the Battle of Arnham, has been cared for at Chestfield House for the last three years. He is an amputee with failing eyesight, requiring sensitive and caring nursing. Apart from providing excellent professional care, I have
always been impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the staff looking after him and the homely atmosphere at Chestfield House. I am very grateful for this as he reaches the end of his life. The cook would always enquire as to his preferences with a soft diet, I have been kept informed of his personal requirements by the nurses and feel confident to be able to ask and discuss issues with the manager.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.766)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.766) out of 10 for Chestfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 42 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.766 for Chestfield House is calculated as follows: ( (376 Excellents x 5) + (87 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 475 Ratings = 4.766
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chestfield House is based on 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 31 registered maximum number of service users is 6.2, which has been reached with 42 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
