I found the manager and deputy manager to be extremely supportive to us both when my husband first moved to Chestfield House. I felt my husband was very, very well cared for and safe in the home. A doctor was always consulted when he was unwell and I was kept informed. He was bedbound and kept clean.
I admire the way the staff coped during the pandemic, which was a very difficult time for staff and residents. Thank you Chestfield.

My mother moved into Chestfield House at the staff of the pandemic as her previous nursing home closed suddenly. She was understandably distressed and anxious at the sudden change. All staff made sure she (and ourselves) were welcome, and she settled well. We know she received nothing but the utmost
care. She sadly died this month, but all staff have been so kind to me, helping me through this sad time.

My mother was in the care of Chestfield House in December 2020.
She was well looked after, the staff were very helpful and it was easy to keep in contact
whilst she was staying at the nursing home.

My mum spent four and a half years at Chestfield House in a loving environment, all the staff are fantastic, although the home isn't shiny and new, the level of care that mum received there was just wonderful. I'm really happy that mums finally years were spent in such a safe place.

The care home staff led by the manager looked after my father in the last weeks of his life.
Their level of care, sensitivity and diligence were second to none. They allowed us to see him 3 days before his death and had timed it so well, he was lucid enough to talk to us and we could say our goodbyes.
I would recommend Chesterfield House to any family seeking care for their loved ones.

My mother was only in the nursing home for 3 months before she sadly passed away, but during that time I could not have wished for better care and communication with myself regarding her health needs. All the staff made us feel very welcome, always available to talk to and the building was well kept
and clean and tidy.

My friend spent the last 4 and a half months of his life at Chestfield House. Both his wife and I were able to visit him every day and so were able to see at first-hand the excellent care that he received during that time. We found all the staff to be friendly, compassionate and professional. My friend
had many health problems and I cannot praise the manager and deputy manager highly enough in their leadership when addressing these problems. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Chestfield House to others.

The outstanding feature of the home is the staff. Undoubtedly over-worked and underpaid, they are nevertheless caring, patient and accommodating, always with a cheerful demeanour and an engaging smile. Even the most demanding residents were treated with respect and good humour. However difficult communication
was, they were not ignored and staff unceasingly tried to engage them in choices, opinions and responses. There were niggles; where did all the socks go? and teatime choices were not good but all minor criticisms were acted on. I doubt we would have found a better care home for mum's final days.

My mother in law was in this home for 2 weeks in end of life care. Every time we went there she was clean and well cared for. The place is peaceful and very clean. The staff are helpful, gentle and respectful. I am a NVQ level3 support worker and I was impressed with how good and organised this home
is. I couldn't find a fault. I am very pleased she was there and a big thank you to all the staff.

My Mum was always cared for by the staff at Chestfield House with care, compassion and dignity. In her final days, they were extremely supportive to us as a family. Nothing was too much trouble. They showed understanding and empathy and their affection for Mum was more than apparent. Her loss was as
sad to them as it was to us. We cannot speak highly enough of all the staff and we will always appreciate their kindness.

This was a very difficult time for my mother and indeed the whole family. It was a great comfort to be able to leave her each evening without the slightest doubt that she would not receive anything but the very best of care. The attention paid to her medical needs by the experienced nursing staff was
first rate, as was the great care taken with her emotional and comfort needs. The atmosphere at Chestfield House was extremely welcoming and homely. Behind the scenes, a very efficient admin team kept on top of all aspects of care and housekeeping. In short, it is difficult to imagine a better service.

The care provided by the staff at Chestfield House was excellent, exactly what one hopes for when selecting someone to look after a loved one. Mum was clearly happy and enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the caring staff. However, what was unexpected was the way that provision encompassed the whole
family. No matter what time of day or night we visited, we were not just welcomed, but made to feel as though we were also being looked after. First hand experience of managing a care home tells us that the demands upon the manager are immense, she fullfills that role superbly and always made herself available to not only support and guide but also to care. That is the mark of an excellent team. Well done and many thanks to all of the staff!

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.803)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.803) out of 10 for Chestfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 42 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.803 for Chestfield House is calculated as follows: ( (392 Excellents x 5) + (78 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 478 Ratings = 4.803
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chestfield House is based on 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 31 registered maximum number of service users is 6.2, which has been reached with 42 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
