The activities team try to give residents varied activities and think "outside the box". The food also is excellent with lots of variety. Even in death Mum and us relatives were treated with dignity and compassion -> Thank you Friston House.
Thank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words. We are deeply sorry for the loss of your mum. It was a privilege to care for her over the past three and a half years. Your appreciation means so much to our team, who strive to provide compassionate, person-centred care every day. Our thoughts remain with you and your family.
My dad was at Friston for the last 8 weeks after a stay in hospital. He was looked after so well and he improved during his stay there. The staff were always kind, helpful and attentive. The facilities for residents and thier relatives were amazing. He didnt get to experience the activities himself as he was mostly bed bound but i could see they always have stuff going on for the residents. The food was delicious, i even booked in to have lunch with my dad. The home itself was always clean and tidy and we was always welcomed with a smile. A truly lovely care home.

During that time he was shown excellent care, dignity & compassion. We were supported as a family too with understanding & empathy.
It was a difficult decision to come to terms with a realising that Dad could no longer stay in his own home. We are so pleased that we chose Friston House staff to take care of him. The staff there became part of our family too. They always strive to do their very best. No hesitation to recommend Friston House.

When I visited, I was not surprised to see he was unsettled, I know this is common for people living with Dementia. What I found enormously reassuring was seeing how staff interacted with him, knew his name, took time to stop & chat, offered their arm to walk him down the corridor. On the day he was coming home, I sat in the dining room during lunch. He ate soup, a chickpea curry & a big portion of apple crumble & custard. He rarely finishes a sandwich.
Making the decision to place a loved one into care is daunting, emotional & frankly not cheap. But this was worth so much more than money, it meant Mum could recuperate & for a brief time prioritise her own health & rest needs.
It means a great deal to...
My sister, Janette, has been in Friston House since 20/12/25 after being in hospital since September '25 and nhs rehabilitation. The decision to self fund for one month, whilst negotiating with social services, was banked on Janettes stay there from 20/01/25 until 5/05/25, again self funded, whilst a very long wait for a social worker to be appointed. This happened April '25, she was sat her 5/05/25 and back in hospital 10/5/25. A very poor decision on the part of social worker. Janette is happy here.
Thank you for your message and for sharing your concerns regarding Janette's journey. We appreciate this has been a very difficult and stressful period for both Janette and your family, particularly following her lengthy hospital stay and the delays experienced in social services involvement. We...

Right from the moment I walked through the door you are made to feel at home, greeted with smiles and happy greetings. The home is well lit, warm and clean. The lounges are inviting and very comfortable. Residents have happy faces, there are activities for those who can and want to join in saw (singing musical & children to sing). Wherever you walk through is clean, tidy and looking beautiful, lots of pictures and ornaments to feel homely. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff, they know residents by name and shown concern & empathy when talking with them. When in the dining area (drinking lovely coffee and tasting delicious cake) at lunch time the residents were made to feel welcome, encouraged to eat/drink. Throughout my career, I’ve always been driven by a deep desire to make a real difference in people’s lives. My nursing background gives me a strong clinical foundation, but it’s my passion for leadership that allows me to support my team in delivering the best possible care. I believe in creating an environment where residents feel safe, respected, and truly at home, and where staff feel valued, supported, and empowered to do their best.At Friston House, I work closely with a skilled multidisciplinary team to ensure that every aspect of care is tailored to each resident’s individual needs and preferences. In July 2025, I will take on the role of Deputy Manager at Friston House.
I enjoy caring for others, promoting their comfort and well-being. I am enthusiastic about supporting the residents, their families and my colleagues.
My main aim is to ensure that the residents have a good quality of life in a safe environment, as well as ensuring a high standard of care is provided at all times.

My name is Ewa and I am a Care Practitioner who is currently undertaking a Degree as an Assistant Practitioner. I am also acting as a Unit Manager on the Phoenix Rise Unit. Hi, my name is Adam Shilling. I am the head of Maintenance here at Friston House.
I had only just joined Barchester, but this was decided after some research into the company and, due to the reviews, after reading what they had to offer, I felt this was somewhere I would like to work, as they put the residents first. I have a wealth of knowledge and skills for maintenance in a care home setting.
I like to make the residents, the safety and cosmetics of the home my priority, as the communal areas and bedrooms are more like a home from home, and I will listen to the needs of the residents and their families to achieve this. Please do not be afraid to approach me if you have any requests regarding maintenance issues.

My name is Manjit. I am the Head of Unit at Phoenix Rise Community, with extensive experience in health and social care and a passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred care. I joined Friston House in 2020 as a Care Assistant and, through dedication and continuous development, progressed to Team Leader before becoming Head of Unit.
I have achieved recognised qualifications in health and social care, most recently completing my NVQ Level 3, which has strengthened my leadership skills and professional practice. I remain committed to ongoing learning to ensure I provide the highest standards of care and leadership.
I take pride in building strong relationships with residents, families, and colleagues, fostering a culture of compassion, integrity, and excellence. My leadership is approachable and supportive, with a focus on empowering others and promoting teamwork.
I am passionate about creating a safe, welcoming environment where residents are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. I am proud of my career progression and remain committed to leading by example, driving continuous improvement, and making a positive difference to the lives of those we support every day.

Hi, I’m Tracy. I am proud to share that I have dedicated the past ten years of my career to working at Friston. During this time, I have developed both personally and professionally, progressing through a number of rewarding roles within the organisation.
I began my journey at Friston as a Healthcare Assistant (HCA). In this role, I was committed to delivering high-quality care, ensuring the dignity, safety, and wellbeing of those we support. Working directly with patients and alongside the teams allowed me to build strength, resilience, and a deep understanding of person-centred care.
Through hard work and dedication, I progressed into the role of Team Leader. This position enabled me to further develop my leadership abilities, supporting and supervising staff, coordinating care, and ensuring that high standards were consistently maintained. I take pride in mentoring colleagues, promoting teamwork, and contributing to a positive and professional working environment.
I now proudly serve as a Speak Up Champion. In this role, I stand for openness, transparency, and a culture where staff feel safe and empowered to raise concerns or share ideas. I am passionate about an environment built on trust and mutual respect, where every voice matters. My ten years at Friston reflect my commitment to growth, leadership, and maintaining excellence in care. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had and remain dedicated to upholding the values and standards of the organisation.
