Review is based over a four-month and ongoing residency. Some initial concerns have proven to be exactly that, there just needed to be a settling-in period and getting to know the home and the routines. Overall, the level of care has been very good. Any medical needs that have arisen have been quickly
raised with GPs by the staff and well dealt with. Emotional and social support for the residents is also very good with staff always positive and caring. Friston does seem to move staff around its three distinct areas which, in the long term, should be positive but in my opinion, means that consistency and continuity have, on occasion, been lacking. All staff and management have been excellent on a reactive basis when we have raised any query or matter but there have been instances when I expected a greater proactive approach. Having said this, the management and supervisory staff are always available and make time to listen and discuss any issues. Overall, our family is very happy.

What a lovely care home! Dad has been here for six weeks and in that time he has settled in very well. He seems happy and relaxed. All of the staff are extremely caring, professional and treat Dad with respect and dignity. No matter how busy they are they are always happy to help, nothing is too much
trouble and they are always smiling. Dad is being cared for very well, he is always clean and dressed. The food is great and Dad enjoys it, along with all the tea and biscuits! Choosing a care home for Dad was a very stressful experience, we've certainly made the right choice!

My cousin was transferred to your care from our local hospice, having become very unwell and having lost her mobility.
I followed the transferring ambulance and we were warmly greeted by the wonderful staff here.
Since then, the care, kindness and "attention to detail" for her has been exemplary -
by all staff. Her room is pleasant, nicely furnished and bright. Her meals are tasty and varied. (The BBQ last week was wonderful!) All in all, wonderful care. Thank you all.

We are very happy with how my mum is looked after at Friston. She is contented, and her well-being is a priority. Staff are friendly and Mum says she "cannot fault it in any way". My dad came to Friston House from hospital for palliative care he was not eating. Slept mostly and had delirium. It took him about a week to settle in. They reviewed medication etc. We cannot believe how much he has improved. He is now eating, awake a lot more and has no delirium they have been amazing!
My dad used to attend an organ club. Unfortunately he will not be able to go but Friston House went to the club and recorded it so he could watch it in the home. I would highly recommend.

Our first experience of residential/nursing care. My mum spent a year at Friston before transferring to a care home nearer to family.
Our overall experience was as marked below. The standout experience was the commitment of the care staff. They are well-led and show care and compassion.
The only real
criticism is the introduction of the new electronic reporting system.
This appears to have been implemented without sufficient training or support. The prescriptive nature of the system means that staff spend less time with residents and feel under extra pressure to complete reports.

We came and had Christmas dinner with Dad. The food was amazing. The chef came throughout the meal to make sure we were happy, and the waiter was very good and very friendly. My mother-in-law initially went to Barchester Friston House Care Home for respite care. She was so well cared for that it was agreed that she would stay permanently. What a difference it has made... after continuous admissions to hospital when she was at home. Now she is in Friston House, she hasn't
been admitted to hospital. All the teams from various departments are fantastic and according to Ma-in-law, the food is great!

The home is welcoming, friendly and caring. Mum is receiving the very best care and appears to be very happy. She enjoys the food and loves the interaction with the staff. As a family, we have found the staff to be very caring and accommodating especially three members of staff who always go above and

I’m Ana, the General Manager at Friston House and a passionate, dedicated nurse with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care. I’ve been a Registered Nurse since 2016 and have worked with Barchester since May 2019-a journey I’ve truly enjoyed and one that has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally.


Throughout my career, I’ve always been driven by a deep desire to make a real difference in people’s lives. My nursing background gives me a strong clinical foundation, but it’s my passion for leadership that allows me to support my team in delivering the best possible care. I believe in creating an environment where residents feel safe, respected, and truly at home, and where staff feel valued, supported, and empowered to do their best.
At Friston House, I work closely with a skilled multidisciplinary team to ensure that every aspect of care is tailored to each resident’s individual needs and preferences. Whether it’s supporting people with complex nursing needs or enhancing daily life through meaningful interactions, my goal is always to maintain the highest standards of care and dignity.

In July 2025, I will take on the role of Deputy Manager at Friston House.


I enjoy caring for others, promoting their comfort and well-being. I am enthusiastic about supporting the residents, their families and my colleagues.


My main aim is to ensure that the residents have a good quality of life in a safe environment, as well as ensuring a high standard of care is provided at all times.

My name is Ewa and I am a Care Practitioner who is currently undertaking a Degree as an Assistant Practitioner. I am also acting as a Unit Manager on the Phoenix Rise Unit. I have long experience in Health and Social Care supported by national qualifications. I am passionate about my role and residents wellbeing.


I am progressing in my career and developing knowledge and skills. I am dedicated to my residents and aim to improve their quality of life and provide a safe environment. I want to maintain a friendly atmosphere for all residents and their families and support them to feel comfortable at Friston House.


I have been with Barchester since December 2020 and enjoy working with an experienced and excellent team of nurses and care staff.

Nicol Nasturas

Job Title: Acting Unit Manager Joined: 2019

I am a Care Practitioner and also Acting Head of Unit on the Phoenix Rise Community. I have worked here in Friston House since 2019 and was employed as a carer. In 2024 I went on to become Head of Unit in Phoenix Rise .


I have previous experience in health and social care supported by internal qualifications in the home as well as independent external qualifications. I am passionate about my role and thrive to provide quality care for all residents. I am advancing in my career and continue to develop my knowledge and skills, which I have been able to do whilst actively working.


I am dedicated to the residents and aim to improve quality of life and provide a safe environment. I am motivated to ensure all residents receive a high standard of person centred care, safety and dignity.

Hi, I’m Janine, Admin Assistant and the homes Wellbeing Champion, I am the first point of call for enquiries and often will be the one to help guide you if your loved one is coming into our home. As Wellbeing Champion I am responsible for helping staff with any concerns they may have regarding their work, mental health or anything they may need guidance with. If you have any questions, I am the friendly face to help you at the Reception Desk.

I am Abin, the Head Chef here at Friston House. I have enjoyed working as a professional chef for over 10 years and find the care industry a very rewarding environment. I am passionate about cooking with my specialist skill being desserts and pastries.

David Johnson

Job Title: Head of Activities Joined: 2023

I’m David, I have been working at Friston House since December of 2023.


I have a background in the visitor attraction sector as an events and activities manager, working with families to create engaging, fun activities that result in long-lasting memories. I believe that care home activities should be just as fun, engaging, inclusive to all and worthwhile. Either as a group, self-led or on a one-to-one basis.

My Name is Colin. I have just taken on the role as the New Head of Maintenance

A role I am dedicated to doing the best within my role.


My experience began at college where I undertook an apprenticeship in Carpentry and Joinery. I achieved City and Guilds and advanced City and Guilds.


I have helped build B&Q stores and travelled the world Working in five-star Hotels, for the last two years in the care industry as a maintenance operative.


You will always see me with a smile and be happy to help the residents and staff feel safe in the home.

Hi, I'm Denise


I started working at Friston House on December 24 as the head housekeeper. I have many years of cleaning and supervising behind me.


I love to work with my Team and support them so we can all provide a high standard of service to our residents. A clean, welcoming home is my priority. I also enjoy interacting with our residents and their families.
