Review from Graham B (Husband of Resident) published on 18 December 2025 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

When my wife was brought in on a stretcher she was met by several smiling, competent staff who immediatly made her welcome. After weeks of not being washed or kept tidy in hospital on the first day she was showered and just made to feel so much better. Her mental condition is deteriorating but the staff do so much to try and stimulate her. A member of staff brings food in to try and get her to sit and drink. Their patience and care is wonderful. I am so grateful to all the staff at this home, I cannot thank you enough.

A member of staff recommended this care home. I was worried at first as my Dad was in assisted living accommodation. He came straight from hospital. As soon as he arrived staff came out to us and put me at ease straight away. We always feel very welcomed and I know my Dad is being cared for. I can now be a son again and not a carer.

No care home, no matter how extravagant it is, is a nice place to be BUT its the staff that help and make it bearable, with the reality that it is. All staff members on the second floor work extremely hard, from cleaning to personal care, their work load is relentless but I am always greeted with a smile and updated with my mothers daily health and eating progress. The Nurses are always willing to answer any questions and put my mind at rest. More Health Care Assistants would be an advantage as their time is limited.

All the staff at Friston House are always polite and courteous and have the residents needs at the forefront. They always greet residents by their name with a smile.

I do strongly feel that the residents would definitely benefit from a couple of extra members of staff who would be able to give their time to 'just chat and be present with the residents who need just a friendly reassuring face and be given guidance as to "what is happening " / "where am I"/"what can I do" / "where do I need to go"??? Health care assistants on shift don't have the time or capacity to do this. They need to be primarily working on personal care.

Thank you for providing a good service keeping our loved ones safe and cared for

I'd like to say I'm very impressed with my husband's care and attention to detail. The staff go above and beyond anything he needs and to us as family. Especially for his birthday on Sunday, the room was prepared and decorated perfectly. The cake and drinks etc. was very nice. Our visitors were also treated very well nothing too much trouble. I will definitely be bringing him here again. Thank you very much.

Excellent from the start: careful, proactive and committed staff in every role. A home seemingly filled with energy and cheerfulness. My relative was too ill to take advantage of the organised events: even so, everyone was so helpful and willing that he should feel settled and comfortable. Outstanding nursing care, for which we are very grateful.

Mum was apprehensive and so were we (her family) about bringing Mum into a care setting but we could no longer cope with the 24-hour care at home and in Mum's best interest, we found Barchester Friston House Care Home.
