When my wife was brought in on a stretcher she was met by several smiling, competent staff who immediatly made her welcome. After weeks of not being washed or kept tidy in hospital on the first day she was showered and just made to feel so much better. Her mental condition is deteriorating but the staff do so much to try and stimulate her. A member of staff brings food in to try and get her to sit and drink. Their patience and care is wonderful. I am so grateful to all the staff at this home, I cannot thank you enough.

Dear Graham,Thank you sincerely for your incredibly kind and moving feedback. It means a great deal to hear that your wife was met with warmth, smiles, and reassurance from the moment she arrived, and that the care she received on her first day helped her feel clean, comfortable, and valued again.
Your recognition of the staff's patience, compassion, and determination to support her wellbeing, stimulation, and nutrition is deeply appreciated. The team work very hard to provide dignified, person-centred care, and your words are a powerful reminder of the difference this makes to residents and their families.
I will ensure your feedback is shared with all staff, as it will be extremely encouraging and rewarding for them to hear. Thank you again for your trust and for taking the time to express your gratitude.
Kind regards,
Ana

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful review. We understand how big a transition it can be when a loved one moves from assisted living or hospital care into a residential home, and we are so pleased to hear that our team were able to reassure you from the moment your dad arrived. Creating a supportive, welcoming environment for both residents and families is at the heart of what we do.It's lovely to hear that you feel confident in the care your dad is receiving and that this has allowed you to return to your role as a son rather than a carer. That is exactly the type of peace of mind we aim to provide. Thank you again for your kind words-please know that we are always here should you ever need anything.

Staff were very welcoming and friendly. My father-in-law is very happy there. He was in hospital before coming to the home where he wasn't eating much, now his appetite has come back. I would highly recommend Friston House.

No care home, no matter how extravagant it is, is a nice place to be BUT its the staff that help and make it bearable, with the reality that it is. All staff members on the second floor work extremely hard, from cleaning to personal care, their work load is relentless but I am always greeted with a smile and updated with my mothers daily health and eating progress. The Nurses are always willing to answer any questions and put my mind at rest. More Health Care Assistants would be an advantage as their time is limited.

I do strongly feel that the residents would definitely benefit from a couple of extra members of staff who would be able to give their time to 'just chat and be present with the residents who need just a friendly reassuring face and be given guidance as to "what is happening " / "where am I"/"what can I do" / "where do I need to go"??? Health care assistants on shift don't have the time or capacity to do this. They need to be primarily working on personal care.
Thank you for providing a good service keeping our loved ones safe and cared for

I’m Ana, the General Manager at Friston House and a passionate, dedicated nurse with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care. I’ve been a Registered Nurse since 2016 and have worked with Barchester since May 2019-a journey I’ve truly enjoyed and one that has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally.
Throughout my career, I’ve always been driven by a deep desire to make a real difference in people’s lives. My nursing background gives me a strong clinical foundation, but it’s my passion for leadership that allows me to support my team in delivering the best possible care. I believe in creating an environment where residents feel safe, respected, and truly at home, and where staff feel valued, supported, and empowered to do their best.At Friston House, I work closely with a skilled multidisciplinary team to ensure that every aspect of care is tailored to each resident’s individual needs and preferences. Whether it’s supporting people with complex nursing needs or enhancing daily life through meaningful interactions, my goal is always to maintain the highest standards of care and dignity.
Leading Friston House is a privilege. I take great pride in building strong relationships with residents, families, and staff-and in fostering a culture of warmth, integrity, and excellence that truly reflects what great care should look like.

Hi,
I'm Adela Lupu, Deputy Manager here at Friston House.
I have a passion for nursing, and it was always my aim to qualify as a registered nurse, which I achieved in 2015.
I have worked here at Friston House since 2019 as a Senior Nurse and in 2022 went on to become the head of unit in Nightingale Walk.
In July 2025, I will take on the role of Deputy Manager at Friston House.
I enjoy caring for others, promoting their comfort and well-being. I am enthusiastic about supporting the residents, their families and my colleagues.
My main aim is to ensure that the residents have a good quality of life in a safe environment, as well as ensuring a high standard of care is provided at all times.

My name is Andrei Boruz, and I am a dedicated Senior Nurse currently working at Friston House. I qualified as a nurse in 2014 and have since built my entire career within the nursing home sector. Throughout the years, I have developed a deep passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred care to residents.
I truly enjoy my profession and take great pride in being a nurse. For me, nursing is more than a job—it is a vocation that brings both fulfilment and purpose. I am committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of the people I support every day.
I strongly believe that personalised care planning plays a vital role in improving safety while still respecting each resident’s dignity and independence. By consistently focusing on safe practices, I aim to promote a positive, supportive environment where both residents and staff feel confident, valued, and secure.
My goal is to use my knowledge and experience to create a warm, homely atmosphere where residents feel comfortable, respected, and well cared for. I also strive to support care staff and build strong relationships with residents’ families, ensuring that everyone feels involved and reassured.

My name is Amy. I joined Friston House in February 2026. I had previously worked as an Administrator in care.

I’m David, I have been working at Friston House since December of 2023.
I have a background in the visitor attraction sector as an events and activities manager, working with families to create engaging, fun activities that result in long-lasting memories. I believe that care home activities should be just as fun, engaging, inclusive to all and worthwhile. Either as a group, self-led or on a one-to-one basis.

Hi, my name is Adam Shilling. I am the head of Maintenance here at Friston House.
I had only just joined Barchester, but this was decided after some research into the company and, due to the reviews, after reading what they had to offer, I felt this was somewhere I would like to work, as they put the residents first. I have a wealth of knowledge and skills for maintenance in a care home setting.
I like to make the residents, the safety and cosmetics of the home my priority, as the communal areas and bedrooms are more like a home from home, and I will listen to the needs of the residents and their families to achieve this. Please do not be afraid to approach me if you have any requests regarding maintenance issues.

Hi, I’m Tracy. I am proud to share that I have dedicated the past ten years of my career to working at Friston. During this time, I have developed both personally and professionally, progressing through a number of rewarding roles within the organisation.
I began my journey at Friston as a Healthcare Assistant (HCA). In this role, I was committed to delivering high-quality care, ensuring the dignity, safety, and wellbeing of those we support. Working directly with patients and alongside the teams allowed me to build strength, resilience, and a deep understanding of person-centred care.
Through hard work and dedication, I progressed into the role of Team Leader. This position enabled me to further develop my leadership abilities, supporting and supervising staff, coordinating care, and ensuring that high standards were consistently maintained. I take pride in mentoring colleagues, promoting teamwork, and contributing to a positive and professional working environment.
I now proudly serve as a Speak Up Champion. In this role, I stand for openness, transparency, and a culture where staff feel safe and empowered to raise concerns or share ideas. I am passionate about an environment built on trust and mutual respect, where every voice matters. My ten years at Friston reflect my commitment to growth, leadership, and maintaining excellence in care. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had and remain dedicated to upholding the values and standards of the organisation.
