Glebefields Care Home provides to its residents high-standard residential, nursing and respite care in an attractive location with far-reaching views of beautiful countryside. The home, a stone-built former rectory near the village of Banbury, fully refurbished in 2022 to luxury standards throughout, features standard and double bedrooms which are all en-suite. Although the home is in a rural setting, residents benefit from easy access to shops, restaurants and public transport links.

They go above and beyond to understand residents' needs and wishes to provide the best service possible. Each day is planned as per the choices of the residents and their interests and what they prefer to do on a daily basis.

Meals are cooked inhouse with great care to residents' dietary needs. The tasty menu is varied so residents can try something new every day.

My friend needed urgent care and nursing. She had stayed previously at Glebefields and they were very nice, so they were my first thought when she needed care again. She has been in for two weeks now and has finally settled. The staff have made everything so easy from the start and have always got time
for you. I would certainly recommend Glebefields.

My Mum moved into Glebefields on 20/03/2020 from hospital, just before lockdown. She was very distressed as we had not seen her the week before while she was in the hospital and her condition had deteriorated. We have seen her only twice due to coronavirus, and she was very distressed as she could not
understand why we could not give her a kiss and a hug, so we have not been able to visit. Mum has Alzheimer's/dementia and has been very agitated and has challenging behaviour for the staff to deal with. The wonderful staff have kept Mum safe and very well cared for. They are all so patient and understanding of her condition. Mum was 81 in July and a birthday cake was made for her with candles that she blew out and everyone sang happy birthday to her, she looked like she was having a lovely time. She was dancing to Abba one afternoon when I called and I could hear her laughing in the background! Glebefields care home staff are amazing, I do not know what we would have done without them.
Reply from Nisha Shaji, General Manager at Barchester Glebefields Care HomeThank you ever so much for the support and co-operation from yourselves. Without your input, we would not have been able to support mum in the best possible.

My husband has been at Glebefields for over a year and his care and requirements are met. We’ve always found him to be well cared for, well-fed, comfortable, happy, staff are lovely caring people and if we requested anything it’s always been tried to facilitate. We are looking forward to meeting outside
in the garden as we’ve not been able to see him for a long time and hope that happens quite soon.

My dad was a resident for a very short period before his health sadly failed, but during this time, the staff went out of their way to make him feel welcome, cared for and comfortable. The deputy manager showed great empathy for our situation, arranging a swift admission and treated us all with great
respect and compassion. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and the ability to WhatsApp to talk too and see him was very reassuring (no visiting due to the pandemic). Dad was lucky too, to stay in one of the rooms with lovely views over the local countryside.

My husband and I could not have asked for a better place than Glebefields (Drayton) for his respite period. Each and every one of the staff that we met were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The carers were very good. Office staff to nurses and cleaners were most helpful No problems were
too much. Thank you, everyone.

Mum has been at Glebefields since July 2019 and although was very anxious at first, within two days was asking if she could stay forever. She has made lots of friends and is very happy in this lovely caring environment. The staff are all so brilliant and are very genuine with both residents and each
other. It is like being part of an extended family. There is much laughter, and you get a great sense of teamwork. As family members, we feel welcomed and greatly supported as part of the Glebefields community.

My friend has been a resident in Glebefields for five years and has received the very best of personal and nursing care. Nothing is too much trouble for the caring staff. This is 'home' for him - so comfortable. Any special food requirements are always catered for too. The entertainment staff always
come up with a variety of activities. There seems to be even more attention to detail now, with the new manager. As visitors, we are always made to feel welcome. I think this is a very special care home.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.732)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.732) out of 10 for Barchester Glebefields Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.732 for Barchester Glebefields Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (257 Excellents x 5) + (61 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 332 Ratings = 4.732
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Glebefields Care Home is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hi, my name is Snobia and I’m the 'Acting' Activities Lead for all things ‘Life Enrichment’ at Glebefields care home in Drayton, Banbury.

Having worked as a Care Assistant at Glebefields care home for many years, I've provided support to every department overtime and find the provision of life enrichment through activities, events and outings one of the most rewarding.

Being given the opportunity to fulfil our residents wishes, and enrich their everyday lives with activities and experiences that support their continued wellbeing is a privilege.

As an Activities Coordinator, my aim is to ensure all our resident guests continue to explore their independence, getting to know their lives prior to joining us and enabling them to remain fulfilled.

Making links with local groups and organisations to keep our residents’ part of the local community is a key part of my role, if you would like to make contact with me and our residents, please feel free to call me on 01733 246840 or drop me an email Glebefields.activities@barchester.com
