My son has been in Green Gates for four months following a severe haemorrhagic stroke, and he has been very well looked after by all the lovely nurses and carers who have to do so much for him. They are unfailingly kind and cheerful, and indeed all the staff are friendly and ready to help, creating a good atmosphere in the home.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your Son in our care. It is always nice to hear words like "Kind" and "Friendly" being used to describe our Staff. We hope to continue providing your Son with the best possible care.
The home itself seems comfortable and well run with a beautiful outdoor area. The staff appear to be attentive and caring and the resident seems to be happy and contented. Frequent visits from a doctor, a chiropodist and a hairdresser are very welcome.
Thank you for your lovely words. It is wonderful to hear that you are impressed with the comfortable environment at Green Gates Care Home. It is always brilliant to hear words like "Attentive" and "Caring" being used to describe our staff. We hope to continue providing your loved one with the best possible care.
Visiting mum on a warm Sunday afternoon. Sleeping and comfy. Blind with dementia. Staff excellent. A difficult job but good team work. This is mum's home.

The staff are very friendly and kind and will go out of their way to accommodate any requests by the resident or family. The nursing staff work together with the weekly visit from the GP and information is quickly past on to the residents family.
Thank you for your lovely review. It is always wonderful to hear words like "Kind" and "Friendly" being used to describe our staff and we are pleased to hear that you are impressed with the high standards of care provided at Green Gates Care Home. Hopefully you will go away from this feeling like your loved one received the best possible care.
My first priority is for my husband to be well cared for, well fed & clean & safe. Green Gates meets these requirements however, Bupa seem to be reviewing guidelines & practices & t create an image that seems clinical & institutional & not adapted to the individual home. Carers sometimes appear overwhelmed by new rules & management are conspicuous by their absence, indeed some residents do not know who the manager is. I admire all these staff for their dedication, I think the manager is lucky to have such a caring team. Instead of more posters & target info on walls one to one talk or praise would impress me more.
Thank you for your comments. We are pleased to hear that your Husband is well cared for and looked after. We will discuss your feedback with the home's manager to help them continually improve their service.
Following 2 falls at home my mother was unable to continue living independently at home and we transferred her for care at Green Gates. It took a while for her to adjust to the new way of life as so many new faces and names were confusing for her. The medical staff were very careful to assess her needs and the transfer of Doctor to the Care home practitioner was a relief for all the family. She is still struggling with the food and needs to encouraged to eat as she no longer has access to her choices but the carers are patiently getting her adjusted. From my point of view we are satisfied that she is being well looked after and safe in her new environment. My only slightly negative comment is that the staff cover at weekends is very stretched and laundry items seem to disappear regularly.
Thank you for your lovely review We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your mum in our care. We have discussed your feedback with the Home Manager and moving forward the home will arrange a monthly food committee meeting and will have residents on the committee. The manager is going...
The carers are always kind and cheerful, and I'm grateful my husband is being so well looked after. The admin, kitchen, and cleaning staff are very helpful too, and everyone makes me feel welcome. Thank you all.

It is always brilliant to hear words like "Kind" and "Cheerful" being used to describe our staff and we are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your Husband in our care. We are happy to hear you feel like a part of our Green Gates family. We hope to continue providing your loved one with the best possible care.
I have a lovely room which looks on to the garden. I am well-fed and well-looked after.
I feel safe and secure here and get value for money.
The carers and staff continue to be excellent and a recent fall has shown me once again how well I am supported. I am very grateful to all concerned. The food is always well prepared and presented and I am very pleased to be starting my 4th year here.
Thank you for your kind words. We hope the care home did everything possible to make the transition as easy as possible. Thank you for choosing our Home for your stay.
All staff try their best.
Impressed with the cleanliness.
Just a proposal: an intercom system at the main door would be great if a visitor needs to speak to the reception before entering the building.
Will you be able to convey this proposal to the relevant department?

We will discuss your feedback with the home's manager to help them continually improve their service. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make loved ones stay as comfortable as possible.
They made it a very special occasion for all the family.
My mother has been at Green Gates for 18 months, after a series of falls and breaking her hip. She was very frail and confused but the excellent nursing care has made her much more comfortable and happily settled. We have met so much kindness and love from the excellent carers, nurses and managers. We are always welcomed as visitors at any time.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are so happy to have shared your mother's 100th birthday what an amazing milestone. It is always nice to hear from family members feeling like their loved one is cared for and looked after. We are looking forward to seeing you again.
The general experience of being a care home resident at Green Gates Care Home is ok but there seems to be a disconnect between staff and management. The staff are struggling with heavy workloads and insufficient praise and support from management who are mostly invisible to residents and seem not to be involved with them personally. Facilities like baths are not available, having been converted into an equipment store room. Activities seem patchy and unpredictable, although good when delivered e.g. Owls and penguin contact.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. We have a general regard for all our residents. We will discuss your comments with our feedback team to help continue and improve our services. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your loved ones stay as comfortable as possible.
Most of the staff are helpful. The food is lovely. I am able to choose what I eat. I have some good friends. My room needs painting.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your comments. We have discussed your feedback with the Home Manager and they are going to speak to you regarding the redecoration of your room. Please let us know if there is anything else we can help with.
I have been in Green Gates for a year now. Prior to this, I have only been in other homes for short periods. This is by far the best. The food is varied. The staff are very respectful in working, showing and cleaning. I make the effort to join in as many of the plentiful activities as I can. I look forward to the activities which are well organised this winter.

I cannot thank the manager enough for her persistence with multiple agencies in unblocking the roadblocks to ensure that my mother was able to move to Greengates.
Now that my mother is at Greengates I am confident that she is being looked after in the way we want for her. That has brought peace where once there was intense, gnawing anxiety in my mind and heart. That is priceless.
Thank you so much to the manager and team. This is a lovely care home run in a way that inspires confidence.

Meet the Team (3)

I am the home manager at Green Gates. I worked in the NHS for some years after qualifying as a nurse. My speciality was orthopaedics. When I had my first child I decided to leave the NHS and move into the care sector. I have now been a manager for approximately 10 years.
What I love most about my job is the variety - every day is different.
Outside of work, I live in Bicester with my husband and two children who are 7 and 12 years old. I enjoy reading and travelling.

I joined Bupa in 2018, initially as a carer. I completed my NVQ3 and became a senior carer before moving to the financial administrator role around 18 months ago. My job involves managing the financial accounts of all residents and keeping the system up to date. It also involves ordering, payments, managing petty cash and completing financial reports.
Before joining Bupa, I worked in retail management and various HR positions for about 16 years. Following my nan getting dementia - which progressed very quickly - and spending a lot of time with her, I thought a career in care might be something I could be good at. When I turned 40, I bit the bullet and applied at Green Gates.
I love being able to help people - whether it be residents, staff or visitors. If I can do something that makes their life a little easier or puts a smile on their face, I can go home happy.
I am a confident, hard-working woman and pride myself on doing a good job. I have RA which I manage well and do not let hold me back. I have a partner called Dave and one son who is nearly 25. Outside of work, I like music, books and a good horror film!

I qualified as a nurse in 1998 after completing a diploma in general nursing and midwifery in India. I worked in a hospital in India until 2002 before moving to the UK. I have worked for Bupa since April 2005.
I love my job - every day is different at Green Gates and I enjoy building relationships with our residents and their families.
I have two children and live with my family in Oxford. Outside of work, I love keeping active - going to the gym and for walks. I also like going to India to see my family and friends at least once every year.
