My mother has been a resident at Southerndown from December 2018. The staff are well trained, caring. Southerndown is a person-centred. The food is outstanding. I know my mother is in good caring hands.

Beautiful gardens and surroundings greet you, then you enter the home, which is more like a hotel, the decor light and bright, but homely and welcoming, staff cheerful, accommodating and very warm, the rooms are turned into the new tenants very own with pictures and some favourite pieces arranged in
the room, all to make them comfortable, which my father appreciated.
There was always a member of staff on hand 24/7 and always positive, professional and most of all cheerful, he was well looked after.

Southerdown care home provided excellent care for my father for three years. Unfortunately, Dad died this month but even in this sad time the care continued to the highest standard, both professionally and as friends to Dad and us, the family. Advice and guidance are always on hand. Throughout Dad's
time here he was comfortable and happy and I am sure he wouldn't have reached over 90 years of age without Southerdown's care.

Father in law has been a resident for two and a half years and my mother in law for a year. This home first had my father in law as a resident and when my mother in law needed residential care, we didn't hesitate to apply for her to be here. We also recommended it to my father in laws family so there

My mother has been staying at Barchester Southerndown Care Home for the last 8 months. She always appears happy and clean and smartly dressed when I visit. The staff are very friendly and caring. The bedroom is clean and tidy and always smells nice.

What can I say about Southerndown. I'm overwhelmed by this establishment. Not only are they caring for my mother, they are also caring for us relatives. With that in mind you know they are totally on top of everything. The staff are so caring and compassionate, they love my mum to bits and that's very
obvious. I cannot find one fault or negative thing to say about Southerndown. You can rest assured that once you've gone home you know that your loved one is in good hands and well taken care of and that helps. Well done and a massive thank you to all the staff, I can't thank you enough.

I have found Southerndown Care Home to be bright and welcoming decor. I must say the same of the staff always welcoming and cheerful. The food is good. I've only known my mum to eat a three-course meal here, she very rarely leaves anything.

My mum has complicated Alzheimer's and I was surprised how quickly she settled into Southerndown Care Home after having several moves. The atmosphere is calm with plenty of space for mum to wander. It feels light and airy and has a lovely courtyard garden. Staff and management have been very supportive
and I feel confident leaving mum knowing she is well cared for.
I also feel I have been listened to especially regarding mum's medication.

Mum spent a year at Southerndown, where she died peacefully in January 2018. Although reluctant to go into care at all, she was happy and well cared for in a clean, cosy and friendly environment. Dad and I had total trust in the staff who are, without exception, warm and kind and genuinely seem to
be happy in their work. You can't fake that. As visitors, we were always recognised and welcomed warmly.


The home is well run and beautifully presented without being intimidating. We were kept informed of all incidents and medical consultations and Mum was treated with nothing but kindness and respect.


After she died many of the staff were genuinely saddened and their good wishes were sincere and most welcome.

Moving my dad from his home and then the hospital and then to Southerndown was made so much easier by the care and assistance of all the staff. It was a very traumatic time for us as a family but they helped us make the transition smoothly and really cared for my dad on his arrival.

Hello, my name is Eva, and I am the Operations Manager here at Southerndown Care Home. Welcome to our website!


I joined Barchester in June 2025 but bring over 20 years of experience working in the healthcare sector. I started my career as a Registered General Nurse in 2000, when I moved to England from my home country of Spain, and have run many homes as a Registered General Manager, leading successful teams and creating thriving communities for residents, staff, families and the wider public.


I believe that outstanding care starts with amazing people, and I am passionate about creating a supportive and vibrant community where both staff and residents feel safe, valued and can flourish. I am also an advocate for mental health awareness, wellbeing and encouraging positive psychology. I want our residents to feel that life just begins when they join our care home, where we offer quality care, nutritious food, and enriching activities in beautiful, homely environments.


Outside of work, I focus on staying active, whether this be walking, hiking, dancing or going to the gym. I am a fan of good food, and I am very lucky that my Husband is an amazing cook, so I look forward to coming home to his delicious homemade cuisine.

Hi, I am Subra, I am the Deputy General Manager here at Southerndown Care Home.


I have been working at Southerndown Care Home since July 2021. I have completed a B.Sc. Nursing and gained very good knowledge from my time in a Surgical Intensive Care Unit in India.


I am passionate about my job and I love caring for the elderly. I started my journey in Southerndown as a Pre-registered Nurse before I became a Registered General Nurse. I have been promoted to Deputy General Manager since March 2023. I am happy to take on the new role and support our General Manager in creating an outstanding care home environment.


Currently, I am doing my NVQ-5 (Diploma in Leadership and Management) to further develop my leadership skills.

Hello there, I'm Andrei and I am the Second Chef and part of the hospitality team at Southerndown Care Home.


I joined the team as a General Assistant in 2017 before transferring to the care team as a Care Assistant for 3 years, following which I supported the home with maintenance for a short period before joining the kitchen team, where I believe I've found my place. The home and management here have been super supportive and we all work together to ensure the home runs smoothly, it's so important.


My favourite thing about my job is seeing the residents enjoy our food, and the meals we prepare. Seeing empty plates is a reward for me and the kitchen team.


In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my lovely wife, walking my dog and visiting the theatre and cinema and a spot of cycling when time allows.

Hello, I'm Adrian and I am a Care Assistant here at Southerndown Care Home.


I joined the team in 2017 as a Night Care Assistant and I feel completely fulfilled by my job every day. I enjoy caring for our Residents and making sure they are settled and rested at night time. I remember my parents and grandparents and I only wish they would have had the same care, attention and support our Residents receive at Southerndown. I am very proud of my work, the home and my colleagues.


I am originally from Romania, where in my younger years I played 1st league football, however those days are sadly behind me, but I am now a keen football follower and support Liverpool football club.

Emma Hughes

Hi, I'm Emma, and I am the Administration Assistant here at Southerndown Care Home.


I joined the team in April 2025, and I am one of the first people you will see when you walk into the home – you will always receive a warm and friendly welcome!


I support the front of house team in everyday admin tasks, reception duties, meeting and greeting family members, visitors, and professionals as they enter the building.


Outside of work, I enjoy socialising with my friends, taking part in pub quizzes, and I am a keen gardener.


I enjoy being part of the wonderful staff team at Southerndown and look forward to meeting you all when you visit.

Kanij

Kanij Fatama

Job Title: Administration Assistant Joined: 2025

Hi, I'm Kanij, and I am an Admin Assistant here at Southerndown Care Home. And I joined the team in April 2025. I enjoy working here as we all work as a team, everyone is always ready to help each other, and it's a homely and cheery place to work.


Professionally, I have completed my MSc in Finance & Accounting from Brunel University London in 2024, following which I completed a placement as a Financial Accounts Assistant. However, I started working part-time as a Care Assistant, and I found my love for the care industry.


Apart from my work, I love travelling; I have visited some parts of India, the UAE & Europe. I have one daughter who is in secondary school, and my lovely Husband is also part of the Southerndown team, having worked here as a Maintenance Assistant since 2023.


Please come and visit us, we are a lovely home, full of fabulous Residents and Staff. You will always receive a warm welcome
