The staff at Anchorstone are always friendly and welcoming. They have made my friends room homely with photos they have taken of her and her late husband on the walls. She is always nicely dressed with her hair put up how she likes it, and her nails painted. She was taken out for her birthday and had a special cake made for her. The care she receives is excellent.

I can not thank everyone enough I live abroad & the only way to view Anchorstone was a video chat Just recently I was able to get over to the UK & witness Anchorstone myself I spent hours each day visiting Mum & never felt that I had outstayed my visit what was more impressive was the kindness & care not just to my Mum but to all the residents I was in awe of the staff & the way they treated every resident with dignity kindness compassion & constantly present I would like to personally thank everyone at Anchorstone for looking after my Mum Thank you to the ladies that gave me a reassuring hug when I had to say bye to Mum as this was very emotional knowing it would be months before I saw Mum again but reassured Anupa would give me regular updates. The resident I am representative for is always well cared for and content when I visit. They are always complimentary about the staff that look after them. There seems to be a very good ratio of staff to residents.
I feel I have a good relationship with management at the home. They are always very busy but keep me informed by email.

Overall I feel content that my friend will be safe and well cared for.

Apologies Anchorstone; Laura, Anupa and team,

I have been meaning to leave this review for a while. My father has been a permanent resident in Anchorstone coming up to 5 years and I have personally been exceptionally impressed with the level of care he receives. There are a number of points that stand out:

1. Whenever I visit, he is clean and comfortable
2. Medication & food is served on time and tailored to his needs. Of late they have to feed him. I admire their patience and resilience and their happy disposition, as it is not easy to see any human suffer, and sadly Dad is not in a good place right now.
3. Communication is excellent, whether they updating myself and family on his condition or whether I contact or email in.

I speak for both myself and my mum with our comments.

Thank you to all who make the efficient running of the Home.

With thanks

Mum went into Anchor-stone in November and has had the best care, even though she is very capable of doing things for herself the staff always help her and make sure she is happy and cared for. And according to mum food is excellent.

Dad is new to the care home, only being there 3 months to date. In that time, he has settled really well and has got some if his old self back again. The staff are lovely, very welcoming always talking to the residents. So far, I have no cause for concern and can only say good things about the care provided. I have attended a meeting to update families on plans for the home and if it all comes off will only improve the setting. Seeing the home decorated for Halloween, remembrance and Christmas means it's an ever changing decor! The Christmas party was a great event and dad thoroughly enjoyed dancing with the staff who all joined in, with families made welcome too. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday where we were allowed to host an afternoon tea for a few friends and close family, staff had decorated the conservatory and bought a cake and all joined in to sing happy birthday. Great home lead by Laura, Anupa and a super team.

My father was moved to Anchorstone after a long stay in the hospital. He took a while to settle in, often being quite argumentative and stubborn. The staff dealt with this in a very professional and loving way.
Dad was a foodie all his life, but lost his appetite in hospital. The food at Anchorstone, being totally home cooked and wholesome brought his appetite back, and the staff were happy to feed me too on some visits.
The staff are naturally caring and loving, taking time to sit and talk to residents, getting to know them and create a home environment as much as possible.
The site is looking a little tired but new owners are slowly moving forward with this issue. Saying this the home is very clean and tidy.

To sum up Dad's stay, I'm very grateful it was at Anchorstone. The staff are so caring towards residents, even to the point of visiting dad in hospital before he passed away. Thank you everyone!

My mum was initially taken in for respite, but due to circumstances she has now become residential. Since the very beginning she has settled in so well, every single member of staff is fantastic with her. This home is so full of love and kindness it's a pleasure visiting mum here. The communication is great, every time we walk in door any member of staff will let us know mums whereabouts and her mood of the day. Cannot recommend this home enough!

My parent is a resident.
The residents are offered a two meal options daily, due to my relative picky nature, they will often give half and half to encourage eating.
The staff are friendly and keep me updated with how they have been and what they have eaten or drank that day. I will visit the duty nurse to discuss their health. Staff have always been approachable and when I have made feedback comments, they have been logged and responded to.
I recently participated in family VE activities and we had a great time and I managed to hear my relative sing, a small joy against degenerative health conditions.
The property is a little aged and tired looking but it is kept clean and the rooms are functional.

Overall I feel my relative is safe and cared for, and provides me peace of mind knowing this.

My mother became a resident at the end of November 2022 after a hospital stay due to medical care needs that could no longer be provided at her home.
The nursing home is always clean and tidy and my mother, after a short period of adjustment, settled in and is happy and well cared for there.

The staff are very welcoming and interact with my mother which keeps her socially active between visitors, this is very beneficial for her as she is not able to move around.

I have nothing but favourable things to say regarding Anchorstone and its staff. I live far, far away and consequently cannot visit as often as I may wish. The team always accommodate me when I am able to visit. The care, patience and attention they offer to residents never ceases to impress me. Being completely honest, I recognise that I could never reach the standards they achieve in this regard. When I phone, I am always greeted in a welcoming manner with the current situation always clearly outlined to me. I am grateful to all.

These people are the best carers I have ever encountered. My wife has been in a different Care Home and my mother was in another different Nursing Care Home so I speak from experience and the staff at Anchorstone far exceed the quality of care the other two provided (one of them has previously been given a Care Home of The Year award). Above all my wife is very happy here. I was recently asked to give suggestions as to any improvements they could make and I couldn't think of any. They are also very good at keeping me informed about any changes in my Wife's condition which being Dementia unfortunately can only progress.

My mother has been a resident for approx 4 years at Anchorstone.
Whenever I visit she always looks well-presented and appears very settled and happy.
I feel that the staff interact extremely well with her. I'm aware my mother can be a little stubborn at times but from speaking with staff they do not have any concerns with her management when delivering her care.

I cannot praise all the staff for the wonderful care that they deliver and as I live very far away so my visits are infrequent. I feel very reassured knowing my mother is happy within Anchorstone N/H in their very well-run home and they are very good at maintaining communication with me.

My 95 year old mother was admitted to Anchorstone from hospital under the delirium pathway after five weeks in hospital following a fall where she broke her ankle. Previously, she was well and living independently. She was very confused and unwell on arrival after poor hospital treatment. She was hardly eating or mobile. The staff worked very hard to support Mum in her recovery. The staff are unfailingly positive and kind; they know all the residents well. They are welcoming to visitors and were very happy to discuss how Mum was doing, encouraging her to build on her slow but daily progress. The staff are very ably led by the manager and her deputy. Mum had nothing but praise for the staff throughout her stay and her delirium (post-trauma confusion) is resolving well. I am sure that this would not be the case if it had not been for the dedication and kindness of the staff. Mum has now been able to move to a non-dementia care home because of the great care she received at Anchorstone.

My father came into Anchorstone Nursing Home from another home he had gone into for respite and soon after entering Anchorstone he fell and broke his hip. After weeks in hospital, he returned to the home and was put onto end-of-life care and he passed away peacefully at the beginning of May this year. Dad was well looked after and settled despite his condition and his constant anguish over his wife who is on end-of-life care also. The staff were always welcoming and friendly and we were very happy that he was being looked after as well as we could expect. Yes, the home is a tad shabby and a bit sad-looking and obviously needs attention but this was unimportant over the care he received and when he passed away the staff were lovely and quite touched by his death. Two months later, on the date of his funeral, they requested £44 for a haircut. Dad was under DOLS and I was his next of kin and contact but my permission was not sought or given and this has been quite upsetting.

We are so sorry about the passing of your father. Thank you for your positive comments about the staff and the care provided. Regrettably, bills have to be paid and it was always considered in your father's best interest that he had haircuts to maintain his dignity and grooming. This was the price...

My father has been a resident in Anchorstone since December 2021. He has advanced dementia/Alzheimer's. The staff are all very caring and each time I visit he seems very well cared for. One reason I selected Anchorstone is its homely atmosphere, unlike some of the purpose built (and expensive) homes that are quite clinical in atmosphere. The communal areas with lounge and conservatory are very pleasant. I would definitely recommend Anchorstone to any prospective residents.

Mum has been living in Anchorstone since October 2022 and my sister and I are so pleased with the level of care that Mum is receiving. We really do find all of the staff to be so helpful, caring and loving. Under the guidance of the manager, we couldn't be happier with how the team treat Mum.
The open approach that the manager and the team have is really appreciated. The regular meetings and 1:1 reviews really do help to provide a high level of reassurance. The team are always so positive and cheerful and we feel that this environment helps both Mum and the other residents cope as best they can with their situations.

We really are very pleased that Mum is in Anchorstone and are so grateful for the care that she is getting.
