Mum went into Anchor-stone in November and has had the best care, even though she is very capable of doing things for herself the staff always help her and make sure she is happy and cared for. And according to mum food is excellent.

Dad is new to the care home, only being there 3 months to date. In that time, he has settled really well and has got some if his old self back again. The staff are lovely, very welcoming always talking to the residents. So far, I have no cause for concern and can only say good things about the care
provided. I have attended a meeting to update families on plans for the home and if it all comes off will only improve the setting. Seeing the home decorated for Halloween, remembrance and Christmas means it's an ever changing decor! The Christmas party was a great event and dad thoroughly enjoyed dancing with the staff who all joined in, with families made welcome too. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday where we were allowed to host an afternoon tea for a few friends and close family, staff had decorated the conservatory and bought a cake and all joined in to sing happy birthday. Great home lead by Laura, Anupa and a super team.

Valerie's Residential Care Home

Mum's Dementia had progressed to a state where she really needed full time care and we were recommend to Valerie's Care Home.
It's a small home with only 17 residents and I feel that this is one of it's strengths.
We dreaded the day when Mum would move into a care home and we braced for the difficulties
that such a change in a person's life usually creates, but Mum took to the staff straight away which was a massive relief for all of the family.
It's been nearly three months now and Mum has settled in very well, her health has improved and she feels that she is at home at Valerie's.
The staff are amazing and really concentrate of each residents individual needs.
Thank you Valerie's for looking after our Mum.

Excellent care home for my Mum who has dementia. The staff are all friendly and so helpful and there is always someone available if you need to speak to them. Plenty of activities to keep the residents occupied and relatives are often invited to events so they feel included in their loved one's lives.
Can't recommend this home enough and it gives me great peace of mind to know my Mum is being well cared for 24/7.
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, On behalf of the team at Moorlands Nursing HomeThank you for your thoughtful review of Moorlands. It is wonderful to hear how well supported your mum is, and that the friendly, approachable team are always on hand both for residents and their families. The variety of activities and the opportunity for relatives to be included in events is something the team take great pride in, so your kind words will mean a lot. Knowing you have such peace of mind about your mum's care is exactly what the team strive for every day.

Anchorstone Nursing Home

My father was moved to Anchorstone after a long stay in the hospital. He took a while to settle in, often being quite argumentative and stubborn. The staff dealt with this in a very professional and loving way.
Dad was a foodie all his life, but lost his appetite in hospital. The food at Anchorstone,
being totally home cooked and wholesome brought his appetite back, and the staff were happy to feed me too on some visits.
The staff are naturally caring and loving, taking time to sit and talk to residents, getting to know them and create a home environment as much as possible.
The site is looking a little tired but new owners are slowly moving forward with this issue. Saying this the home is very clean and tidy.
To sum up Dad's stay, I'm very grateful it was at Anchorstone. The staff are so caring towards residents, even to the point of visiting dad in hospital before he passed away. Thank you everyone!

The staff at Crossways are incredible. The most amazingly lovely thing is how they do the work for the love of it. Looking after even the most challenging of patients is very obviously rewarding for them all. They create a warm family atmosphere and are highly skilled. They also clearly love it when
families visit and go out of their way to make it pleasant.

We visit an old friend who is resident here. She looks well and well cared for and the staff are always friendly, helpful and caring.

This is not a new hotel style home, but it does provide good care and and security for the residents.

Reply from P Mason, Operations Manager at CrosswaysThank you so much for the positive feedback. We don't boast chandeliers or spiral staircase, but It is a privilege providing care and support. The staff are fantastic and genuinely go above and beyond-nothing is ever too much for them. Their dedication and kindness are truly commendable. However, there simply aren't enough staff to meet the residents' needs consistently. As a result, we often find residents left alone in the lounge area, particularly
on Saturdays when the hairdresser is in. This isn't a criticism of the staff themselves-they clearly do their absolute best with the resources available-but rather a reflection of the need for better staffing levels to ensure residents receive the attention and companionship they deserve.

My mum was initially taken in for respite, but due to circumstances she has now become residential. Since the very beginning she has settled in so well, every single member of staff is fantastic with her. This home is so full of love and kindness it's a pleasure visiting mum here. The communication
is great, every time we walk in door any member of staff will let us know mums whereabouts and her mood of the day. Cannot recommend this home enough!

My parent is a resident.
The residents are offered a two meal options daily, due to my relative picky nature, they will often give half and half to encourage eating.
The staff are friendly and keep me updated with how they have been and what they have eaten or drank that day. I will visit the
duty nurse to discuss their health. Staff have always been approachable and when I have made feedback comments, they have been logged and responded to.
I recently participated in family VE activities and we had a great time and I managed to hear my relative sing, a small joy against degenerative health conditions.
The property is a little aged and tired looking but it is kept clean and the rooms are functional.
Overall I feel my relative is safe and cared for, and provides me peace of mind knowing this.

My mum was a resident at Moorlands for end of life care, until she passed away. The decor and furnishings really need some tlc, but what it lacks in there is more than made up for by the kindness and professionalism of the staff. I cannot fault the care that mum was given, from the day she arrived until
she passed.

My mother became a resident at the end of November 2022 after a hospital stay due to medical care needs that could no longer be provided at her home.
The nursing home is always clean and tidy and my mother, after a short period of adjustment, settled in and is happy and well cared for there.
The
staff are very welcoming and interact with my mother which keeps her socially active between visitors, this is very beneficial for her as she is not able to move around.

I have nothing but favourable things to say regarding Anchorstone and its staff. I live far, far away and consequently cannot visit as often as I may wish. The team always accommodate me when I am able to visit. The care, patience and attention they offer to residents never ceases to impress me. Being
completely honest, I recognise that I could never reach the standards they achieve in this regard. When I phone, I am always greeted in a welcoming manner with the current situation always clearly outlined to me. I am grateful to all.

I'm happy to say that the care home and its staff are now very satisfactory. The differences since the new manager arrived have been quite remarkable, she seems to have energised the staff and started a lot of improvements to the home itself. There is still much to be done, but I feel confident that
with the right support, Valerie's could become a flagship home.
