My nephew has been a resident of Wingham Court Care Home for a while. Wingham Court provides excellent care through its staff, who are caring and focused on the residents. The management team always respond quickly to any questions and provide useful feedback. The nurses are excellent, and we think it is a good care home.

As a family, we have been very satisfied with the care they give our relative. Despite him being difficult sometimes, there is always a member of staff willing to give us a few minutes of their time to discuss anything. The food always looks very good.

This care home was recommended by a retired social worker and when my dearest friend became ill and impossible for him to live alone in his house, this home was the first I considered and I was right to think of it as I am very pleased with the level of care and its quality. I am particularly pleased with the level of physiotherapy available to him as a consequence he has already improved in his coordination and balance. I am extremely satisfied with the professionalism of the staff.

Always top care and help. Could be a few more activities geared towards men's interests. But overall very good. Sometimes a bit concerned about some residents "shouting", not their fault but concerning. Food, the only shortcoming is lack of good salads and summer food.

Thank you for your feedback. I will certainly pass your comments about the activities and food on to the home manager. Please let us know if there is anything in particular your loved on would enjoy. Thank you again.

I like this home and its staff but I have not really been allowed to see much with covid. I think the rules do not make any sense. It's like a prison, but I know it's not your fault. Mum likes it here so I'm happy about that.

Reply from Alison Horridge, Customer Advisor on behalf of the team at Wingham Court Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We have a duty of care to all our residents and staff and have been following advice from PHE with regards to Covid regulations but we appreciate it has been a very difficult time. We hope the staff have helped you to keep in touch as much as possible and we are looking forward to welcoming you for a visit to see your Mum soon.

Review from Anish P (Grandson of Resident) published on 21 May 2021 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

An exceptional and talented team give this care home a buzz that brings smiles to all their residents' faces. The on-site facilities allow for constant rehabilitation and the perfectly manicured grounds provide air and space for the residents to move freely and safely, while the daily activities alleviate any boredom and every resident is encouraged to participate. My family and I cannot thank the carers at Wingham Court enough, for everything they have done to look after my father and grandmother, they now feel like family and having spoken to other families of residents, know this isn’t a one-off. They care deeply and do everything in their power to get things right the first time. That is the greatest appeal for families looking for care of a loved one.

My daughter has been a resident at Wingham for about 6 years and we have found that the care and attention she has received during that time has been excellent. In these difficult times, it is good to know that although we are unable to visit there we are assured that the care she receives is of the highest standard.

Generally, my brother is happy here. The rooms are lovely as are the grounds, and there are always lots of activists planned. Unfortunately, the food is not to a very high standard and rather mediocre and uninspiring.

Shalimar Tan
Shalimar TanJob Title:Unit ManagerJoined: 2016

I have been Unit Manager at Wingham Court since 2018, and I joined Bupa in 2016. I began my career as a pre-registered nurse until I got my NMC PIN in February 2017.

Then, I became a registered nurse/staff nurse from 2017 to 2018, until I became a Unit Manager.

I am an overseas nurse, recruited and sponsored by Bupa from the Philippines. I have experience in Adult/Critical Care Nursing in the Philippines, which helped me pursue a career in the care home sector in the UK.

Being able to make a difference in someone's life and to be part of their journey encourages me to continue my career in Care Services. I enjoy seeing the positive impact of the care we deliver in Wingham Court, to both our residents and their families.

I have been living in the UK since 2016. My family is back home in the Philippines and my husband just recently joined me in the UK last year. I live local to Wingham Court.

If I'm not working, I enjoy going out for walks or going to places around the UK with my friends. I like to try new adventures on my travels. I am a coffee lover and I enjoy trying different cuisines.

Emerie Burns
Emerie BurnsJob Title:Senior Activity Co-ordinatorJoined: 2017

My career at Wingham Court began in 2017, I took a short break in service but returned to work in 2023. I have been in my role as Senior Activity Co-ordinator since the beginning of 2024.

I initially joined Wingham Court as a Care Assistant. I have completed several courses over the years to progress my knowledge and skills to support my development. One role that I experienced was Mental Well-Being Co-ordinator, working closely with residents who live with Dementia.

I moved to the UK from the Philippines, and back home I was working with the Squadron Director of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary, assisting and promoting the safety of life and property at sea - to help protect the marine environment. We also supported community events and search rescue operations. It is in my nature to care for people, and it was my job to take good care of civilians for their safety and I was there to support them in whatever they needed.

I also studied Care back home, I completed my training in hospitals. I took good care of both my Grandparents and my Dad. Caring is my passion and I love making a positive difference in people's lives.

I enjoy working alongside my Care Services team very much. I go home feeling proud each day that I have made our residents smile and led fun activities for everyone to join. Making a difference is my inspiration.

I was born in the Philippines, in a place known for its clean and clear water, with numerous wonderful waterfalls - called Libacao Aklan. I am one of six children. My late dad was the former Chief of Police in my hometown while my mom had a little trading business.

I love fashion, and I used to participate in beauty pageants. I also love singing, in fact, I was a vocalist in a band and performed in front of a big crowd back home. Some of my hobbies are DIY, reading books, Zumba (I am a licenced instructor) inspiring others and promoting physical, social and mental wellbeing. Lastly, I am a rising digital creator on the Metaverse social media platform.

I began my career with Bupa in 2021, beginning as a Bank Nurse at Wingham Court and working up to becoming a full-time Registered Nurse.

While I was completing my degree in Nursing, I carried out two placements at Wingham Court as part of my course. Once I had finished my studies, I worked in a Neuro Hospital to gain more experience, but I always knew I wanted to come back to work at Wingham Court.

I enjoy working alongside my Care Services team very much. Every day at work is different and I love making a difference in people's lives.

My hobby is tennis, both playing and watching. I like travelling, and working at Wingham Court allows me flexibility in my working hours to ensure I have a good work/home life balance. I am married and have a little boy, Raphael, who is almost 21 months.
