An excellent level of care for each resident - personal, physical, emotional and spiritual. A wonderful atmosphere here amongst the staff, residents and the friends and family who visit. Good physio sessions. All very safe and plenty of variety in the activities for the residents. Well managed events and trips out. Hygienic and high standards in all areas.

Clean and tidy care home. Staff are on the ball. They go out of their way at times. The grounds are pleasant to walk around.

My brother-in-law is looked after remarkably well, cared for and nursed to an excellent standard.
He has come from another home; where he was extremely unsettled and was under a number of safe-guardings.

So much happier here.

I am very happy at Wingham Court. Most things are excellent. My only critiques are
The food is not always consistently good quality, sometimes the food is cold, the gravy may be thin and it doesn't always taste that nice. I think this is when there are agency chefs on duty. Our resident chefs are very good.

I would like to be able to go out for dinner more than once a month (which is all that is possible at the moment).

My stay was extremely good. Always loads of things to do, such as outings and indoor activities. Care staff were always very polite and caring. The food was generally basic but very nice, and decent size portion. I would highly recommend to others to come and stay.

The home manager is absolutely fantastic and very approachable. She is a natural problem solver and very supportive. The events manager is superb and organises lots of varied activities for residents, both on-site and at external venues. Light-hearted and pleasant atmosphere in the home, warm welcome whenever you visit.

I've visited a couple of times, usually on special occasions like Christmas and have always been very impressed with the really special atmosphere that's always evident.
Everybody whether residents or staff have always been very happy and accommodating. The facilities are fantastic and I hear the activities are second to none and have been invited to go fishing although I've not yet been able to join in due to work commitments.

I'd absolutely recommend Wingham Court to anyone.

The care and support that my brother received at Wingham Court was second to none. It was not only the staff on Elm Ward who dealt with some very difficult situations with great respect and patience but all of the staff in the home. I am extremely grateful.

Relaxed atmosphere, cheerful staff who are doing an excellent job even though it is very often not easy for them. They always recognise me and remember my name. Shalimar Tan
Shalimar TanJob Title:Unit ManagerJoined: 2016

I have been Unit Manager at Wingham Court since 2018, and I joined Bupa in 2016. I began my career as a pre-registered nurse until I got my NMC PIN in February 2017.

Then, I became a registered nurse/staff nurse from 2017 to 2018, until I became a Unit Manager.

I am an overseas nurse, recruited and sponsored by Bupa from the Philippines. I have experience in Adult/Critical Care Nursing in the Philippines, which helped me pursue a career in the care home sector in the UK.

Being able to make a difference in someone's life and to be part of their journey encourages me to continue my career in Care Services. I enjoy seeing the positive impact of the care we deliver in Wingham Court, to both our residents and their families.

I have been living in the UK since 2016. My family is back home in the Philippines and my husband just recently joined me in the UK last year. I live local to Wingham Court.

If I'm not working, I enjoy going out for walks or going to places around the UK with my friends. I like to try new adventures on my travels. I am a coffee lover and I enjoy trying different cuisines.

Emerie BurnsJob Title:Senior Activity Co-ordinatorJoined: 2017

My career at Wingham Court began in 2017, I took a short break in service but returned to work in 2023. I have been in my role as Senior Activity Co-ordinator since the beginning of 2024.

I initially joined Wingham Court as a Care Assistant. I have completed several courses over the years to progress my knowledge and skills to support my development. One role that I experienced was Mental Well-Being Co-ordinator, working closely with residents who live with Dementia.

I moved to the UK from the Philippines, and back home I was working with the Squadron Director of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary, assisting and promoting the safety of life and property at sea - to help protect the marine environment. We also supported community events and search rescue operations. It is in my nature to care for people, and it was my job to take good care of civilians for their safety and I was there to support them in whatever they needed.

I also studied Care back home, I completed my training in hospitals. I took good care of both my Grandparents and my Dad. Caring is my passion and I love making a positive difference in people's lives.

I enjoy working alongside my Care Services team very much. I go home feeling proud each day that I have made our residents smile and led fun activities for everyone to join. Making a difference is my inspiration.

I was born in the Philippines, in a place known for its clean and clear water, with numerous wonderful waterfalls - called Libacao Aklan. I am one of six children. My late dad was the former Chief of Police in my hometown while my mom had a little trading business.

I love fashion, and I used to participate in beauty pageants. I also love singing, in fact, I was a vocalist in a band and performed in front of a big crowd back home. Some of my hobbies are DIY, reading books, Zumba (I am a licenced instructor) inspiring others and promoting physical, social and mental wellbeing. Lastly, I am a rising digital creator on the Metaverse social media platform.

Vlada PascenkoJob Title:Registered NurseJoined: 2021

I began my career with Bupa in 2021, beginning as a Bank Nurse at Wingham Court and working up to becoming a full-time Registered Nurse.

While I was completing my degree in Nursing, I carried out two placements at Wingham Court as part of my course. Once I had finished my studies, I worked in a Neuro Hospital to gain more experience, but I always knew I wanted to come back to work at Wingham Court.

I enjoy working alongside my Care Services team very much. Every day at work is different and I love making a difference in people's lives.

My hobby is tennis, both playing and watching. I like travelling, and working at Wingham Court allows me flexibility in my working hours to ensure I have a good work/home life balance. I am married and have a little boy, Raphael, who is almost 21 months.
