My mum has dementia and has been a resident at the home for just over a year. In her own words she tells me that "the food is very good and the bed very comfortable". The staff are all 100% committed to making sure that all the residents are very well looked after and treated with the dignity and respect
that they deserve. When I leave the home after visiting, a member of staff often sits with my mum for a time to make sure that she is ok. The home is beautifully clean and there are always plenty of activities going on. Having visited relatives staying at several homes in the area I can honestly say that Deepdene Care Centre is the best. The only real downside is that visitors parking is very limited however there is a large public car park about 100 metres away.

Both my parents have been residents at Deepdene. The care they have received has been exemplary. My father passed recently leaving my Mother who has serious dementia living alone and the Deepdene team are all so supportive of her at this difficult time.
The rooms are spacious and cleaned to a high
standard. The food is well prepared and my mother is very happy with the variety and quality.
But most of all it is the staff who do so much to care for the residents that make Deepdene a great place for my Mother to spend her last years.

My mother was in a previous care setup and struggled quite significantly with her mental health, since she has moved to Deepdene she has transformed. She thrives in the friendly respectful environment and feels welcome and well looked after. Since her transfer she has had a long period of stability
- long may it continue. Thank you to each team member for your care.

What a lovely, kind and caring place.
We have just attended a fun day and the organisation was amazing. Everyone, including visitors, were so spoilt.
All the staff that we have met were so genuine and caring towards the residents.
Thank you for caring for my family so well.

I went to a lovely meeting/tea on May 8th, which was to raise money for Alzheimer's disease, and discuss the future plans for the care home.
I believe quite a lot of money was raised.
My partner, who has Alzheimer's was there with me.
The management team talked about the plans for Deepdene. This
included changes within the building, and additional staff for activities and mealtime support.
They are clearly taking any resident's opinions in regard to their food seriously, and making sure that their chef is totally involved in this process.
Senior management spoke with understanding and humour and emphasised that this was an important concern which was being highlighted.
For me, the key point of the meeting was the fact that the care home has not had to use bank staff in the last year!
This says so much about the high quality of people employed at Deepdene.
l feel this also links directly to the senior management team and the way they value all their amazing staff.

My mum seems happy and settled. The carers and nurses are all very kind, caring and friendly, she gets on with them all as far as I’ve seen. She can be challenging but they all deal with that. The food can be an issue (purée diet) no one ever seems to know what it is! It would be nice to tell Mum what
she’s eating. She loves her puddings but there isn’t always a choice mostly just yoghurt (I’ve mentioned it numerous times)
Cleaning isn’t 100% and laundry can sometimes be an issue too, but someone will go and look for any item that seems to be missing or find clothes for Mum if she doesn’t have many. I think that both the cleaning and laundry staff work very hard but there’s a lot to do! The activities staff visit Mum as she mostly doesn’t want to join in and make her feel included. She loves visits from the therapy dog too! Overall Deepdene is a very welcoming place (especially the receptionist) and everybody who works there is friendly and caring and works hard. I would recommend it.

Staff seem helpful and caring. They keep me updated of any medical issues by phone when needed. Eating is an issue, attempts are being made to address the type of food he will eat and hopefully assistance in eating it. Only negative is clothes, takes a long times, e.g. socks/hankie to be returned to
room. Also loss of false teeth!

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.913)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.913) out of 10 for Deepdene Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.913 for Deepdene Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (347 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 379 Ratings = 4.913
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Deepdene Care Centre is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Richard has been the Maintenance Operative at Deepdene for 20 years and has enjoyed every moment of it.
His favourite part of the job is the change to interact with the amazing people living at Deepdene each day. He says that helping create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone makes his role feel rewarding and valued.
When not at work, Richard enjoys watching films, listening to music and exploring new places within the UK and further afield.
