My mother continues to thrive here. It is a very friendly and well-ran home. In fact, she tells me that it is her home and how many friends she has now on her floor. She loves the entertainment and trying out new colours of nail polish. Activities are wide-ranging and plentiful. She has so much to keep
her occupied that she no longer reads as she is too tired! Her new lease of life has been great for all of the family. Thank you all.

We are very happy with how she is looked after and how she is responding. Mum was moved from another home to Deepdene Care Centre four months ago. Since she has been there, she is always cheerful and happy. Mum is 89 and has advanced dementia.

My mother was a resident for many years, under a variety of management. I write with reference to the current set-up. In her last year, Mum was very frail, slept a lot and needed help with eating (soft diet) hence difficult to access food and activities (in the past I would have said good). However,
whenever I visited I never failed to be impressed by the personal care Mum received from the staff who attended to her with kindness, dignity and affection. I felt Mum's main nurse really understood her. I live a long way from the home I visited after a long journey I was always given a warm welcome by reception and other staff.

Outstanding staff. Caring, gentle. Large rooms with big windows. Large corridors so people can walk with zimmers, wheelchairs. Food is good. Nursing staff are particularly good, and their close relationship with a doctor's surgery has proved invaluable.

I can't speak too highly of this care home. My husband moved in on the 21st of October 2022, and right from the start, I was given help and advice.
The home itself is a pleasure to visit.
The staff are always so cheerful and helpful; they go out of their way to assist my husband, even though he
doesn't always appreciate it.
Deepdene puts the ward care into a care home.

My mother and aunt both reside at Deepdene where they are both looked after extremely well. They appear to get on well with the other residents and there is lots of entertainment for them to participate in to stimulate what little they have left.

When my sister-in-law came to Deepdene Care Centre it was a bustling place, lots of residents and staff. For a lot of reasons, this is not how it is now. I hope the new manager will be able to turn the place around.
Reply from Raluca Maritan, Manager at Deepdene Care CentreThank you so much for taking the time to review our care home, I am sorry that you feel the home lost its atmosphere in the past but I am sure that you have noticed the changes around the home that have been adding to the environment for the people living with us which I am really passionate about. Looking forward to seeing you at the home again soon, Raluca.

Our mum is there for end-of-life care. She has been so well cared for from a nursing perspective. There has been the opportunity to discuss decisions made regarding Mum's daily routines, for which we are grateful.
The food is excellent, and Mum is always consulted with regard to her meal choice.
Rooms
are well decorated and clean.
The care centre has excellent leadership, nursing and management.

I visited my mum after many months of lockdown and covid restrictions. I found her to be relaxed and quite happy. She seems to be at home with staff and did not mind being there at all. In the home she was in previously, she always told me she wanted to go back home but now my mother is a totally different
and happy person which makes me happy and gives me peace of mind. Thank you very much everybody.

So far I have been very impressed with the care. My father seems to have settled in very well. He doesn't get as stressed as he did at his last care home. He has also put on weight which was needed as his BMI was too low. All in all, I'm very pleased with the friendly atmosphere and general feel of
the care home.

My elderly mother moved into Deepdene Care Centre in September 2019 at a point when she had advanced dementia. Staff took trouble to get to know her quickly so that they could support her in the most appropriate way. She settled well and was soon moving around with the use of a walking frame, something
she had not done for months. Her family were made welcome at all times, and any changes to Mum's care, medical input, and nursing needs were discussed as necessary. The activities in all units of the care home were excellent, with imaginative ideas and aimed at the inclusion of all residents at whatever level they could take part. The care and skill provided to Mum was very good, and when it was no longer possible to visit her due to the Covid lockdown, we knew she was in good hands. Sadly, despite all efforts, her frailty increased and she died peacefully in the home with staff who knew her looking after her to the last and providing excellent support to her family.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.913)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.913) out of 10 for Deepdene Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.913 for Deepdene Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (347 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 379 Ratings = 4.913
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Deepdene Care Centre is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
