It's a dreadful decision to have to make for a loved one, to choose a nursing home. When I visited Oakhurst, I was in such a state, almost didn't want to like what I saw, because I didn't want my husband to move from care into nursing. But Oakhurst has been, and is absolutely wonderful. Sophie runs a
tight ship, all the carers are attentive and actually get to know their residents, and treat them all like family. They provide entertainment regularly, the food is freshly cooked and plentiful. The grounds outside provide a beautiful space for BBQ's and a place to sit to enjoy. Myself and family are so happy that my husband is being cared for here, where he's been for over two years now and I can't recommend it more.

When my wife arrived at Oakhurst Court Nursing Home my family had already previously removed her from two nursing homes because of the sub standard care she was receiving.Oakhurst is a revelation. From the outside it looks slightly shabby but we remain amazed at the quality of care that is provided.

The

staff genuinely love all the residents led by an inspirational manager. My family find that so supportive when going through the "journey" of dementia- always a friendly welcome and great on communicating with us when my wife has other medical problems.

An excellent nursing home that offers not only excellent care, but is filled with affection towards their residents and families. Oakhurst Court is kept to an excellent standard, with beautiful decor to make everyone feel at home. I'm so pleased that I was given a choice to move my mum there from
a residential home in Lingfield, my father was also there for a number of years, and was so well cared for. I think I've been, and my mum, extremely lucky to have Oakhurst Court a part of our lives.

A great nursing home with a brilliant staff team. Our mum is well cared for and all the family encouraged to support her. Thank you for all you do to make her life better each day.
Some homes look glamorous but have teams that don’t invest in the quality of relationships or care you will find at Oakhurst.

Oakhurst Court Nursing Home is an amazing place. The staff are really caring and are amazing with the residence. When we were looking for a place for my mother-in-law, we were so worried we would not get a great one again. But as soon as my husband and I walked into Oakhurst, we felt the love and care
around the home. Everyone was welcoming. Each time I visit my mother, I still get that lovely feeling of safety that my mother needs; they are so patient with all the residents and always make them feel special. From the management to the carers, cleaners, kitchen staff, builders, and laundrette person, they are all lovely, caring people, and we are so happy we were told to go and visit there because we all are so happy with it all. Thank you to all the staff at Oakhurst; you are all amazing.

The staff are absolutely wonderful. They look after the residents so well and put on so many activities. They are forever cheerful and upbeat. This is the best place ever. We feel Mum gets special attention, they make all residents feel special. The gardens are beautiful. The staff react very quickly
to any concerns and are always happy to adapt to anything we suggest to make Mum more comfortable. I would always recommend Oakhurst Court Nursing Home. I didn't realise there were nursing homes that are so well run by such a young group of staff. There appears little staff turnover as they all work very well together. Such a welcoming place. Very good value for money and a much nicer place than another more expensive care home that I know well.

Excellent care home. With individualised care, not just box ticking general requirements.
Both my mum and dad have Alzheimer's. Been with this care home 11 months and the home has managed to keep them together (double bed). Mum and dad are always washed, clean and relaxed when any of the family visit.
Previous home (a supposed 5* Dementia specialists) stressed my dad so much they caused him to go into crisis. They insisted on increasing his medication and adding antipsychotic drugs.
Now at Oakhurst Court, they have not needed to give him the antipsychotic medication and have reduced the dosage back to what it was a year ago.

The staff really understand the individuals behind this awful disease and do everything they can to reach the person beneath.

Can't rate this home more highly. It may not look all shiny and new but that care is exactly that, care.
Have tried the shiny and new type of home and that seemed to be their main concern, generally looking good rather than caring for the individual.

My Father was a resident at Oakhurst Court from October 2016 until he passed away in December 2016. The care he received was fantastic. All of the staff were friendly and caring and the home had a welcoming family feel. All his needs were met with a smile and any questions we had were answered promptly.
As he deteriorated, a special bed was provided to prevent pressure sores and in the final stages, the staff were constantly in and out offering him fluids, liquidised food, mouth care etc. The Doctor was called promptly when there was need and we were kept well informed. My Mother was there everyday and I was there twice a week, we were offered tea and biscuits and felt cared for and welcome.
This home had a facility whereby my Mother could book lunch with my Dad for a reasonable price which was lovely.
I highly recommend this home as a truly caring place with long term staff who have a genuine care for the residents.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.895)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.895) out of 10 for Oakhurst Court Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.819 for Oakhurst Court Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (61 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.819
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.076 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakhurst Court Nursing Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 = 3.55
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 57 registered maximum number of service users is 11.4. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.4 = 0.526
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
