Woodland Court Nursing Home

from B P (Daughter of Resident) published on 30 April 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My father in law sadly passed away today in Woodland Court after being a resident for the last 2 years. He received the best care a family could wish for, he was 95 years old and lived with dementia. The condition was at times traumatic for the family but the love and support we received from the all
members of staff engulfed us and carried us through those darker days. In his final days we felt loved , supported and most importantly he was cared for with dignity and respect. Woodland court isn't a Care Home, it's a family, a family that loves not only the residents but their families too. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Reply from Mary Turner, Manager at Woodland Court Nursing HomeThank you so much for allowing us to care for him, we loved having him and you guys in our family.
Warmest regards- Mary and the team at Woodland Court

It's a dreadful decision to have to make for a loved one, to choose a nursing home. When I visited Oakhurst, I was in such a state, almost didn't want to like what I saw, because I didn't want my husband to move from care into nursing. But Oakhurst has been, and is absolutely wonderful. Sophie runs a
tight ship, all the carers are attentive and actually get to know their residents, and treat them all like family. They provide entertainment regularly, the food is freshly cooked and plentiful. The grounds outside provide a beautiful space for BBQ's and a place to sit to enjoy. Myself and family are so happy that my husband is being cared for here, where he's been for over two years now and I can't recommend it more.

THIS IS THE WORST HOME EVER. My mother was lying on the lounge floor with residents walking over, she was left all morning and lunch without food or medicine and she was diabetic, the carers were lazy with no care when I visited mostly sitting and eating in there rest room, the manager was the worst
so rude and when I seen her I thought what the hell, she's the manager. The hospital decided to put my mum in this home, I got my mum out but it took 2 weeks, DO NOT LET ANY HUMAN GO IN THIS HOME, please believe me, I have had experience with my loved one, my mother.

When my wife arrived at Oakhurst Court Nursing Home my family had already previously removed her from two nursing homes because of the sub standard care she was receiving.Oakhurst is a revelation. From the outside it looks slightly shabby but we remain amazed at the quality of care that is provided.

The

staff genuinely love all the residents led by an inspirational manager. My family find that so supportive when going through the "journey" of dementia- always a friendly welcome and great on communicating with us when my wife has other medical problems.

An excellent nursing home that offers not only excellent care, but is filled with affection towards their residents and families. Oakhurst Court is kept to an excellent standard, with beautiful decor to make everyone feel at home. I'm so pleased that I was given a choice to move my mum there from
a residential home in Lingfield, my father was also there for a number of years, and was so well cared for. I think I've been, and my mum, extremely lucky to have Oakhurst Court a part of our lives.

our mum has been a resident here for approx.3 years. we have always found the staff attentive to her needs and ours ! we have found ALL the staff very approachable and friendly. always a warm welcome with drinks and bisciuts. plenty of entertainment for residents / singers / fitness class etc. the
food always looks good and nourishing.
I think what sets this care home apart is the staff are all passionate and care about what they do and who they are caring for - yes I would highly recommend it.

Mum was transferred from hospital to Allambie Court 2 years ago after she suffered a fall and deemed to need to go into a nursing home. My past experience of a loved one being transferred to a dementia nursing home was terrible. However, the whole Allambie Court 'experience' has been great: I've found
all staff consistently very caring, considerate and thoughtful, to my Mum (and she can be difficult) and the various daily activities / entertainment is wonderful. They also helped me in my transition into this 'new space'.
The accommodation is a large Victorian house offering accommodation for a reasonably small number of 'guests', which means they individually receive more attention. Although the accommodation has always been clean, a big refurbishment has been underway in the last year, which is looking lovely.
I am the only relative of my Mum and live nearly an hour away. Although it would be easier for me to transfer her to somewhere local to me, I am more than happy with her care.

My Mum, Joan, died yesterday morning eventually relaxed and gently passed away with us by her side, she did not know we were there, due to the severity of her pain relief she was administered, we knew this was needed as did the doctors and palliative care nurses, she was feisty and had a sharp tongue
and I can only apologise to the unnerving staff that took care of her right till the end. You are special people looking after the elderly with a professionalism that we found unmatched I and my wife were always asked if we needed anything, she didn't want to be there, but could not live on her own (Falling risk) and in last 3 years of her 94 year old life needed more care as Hospital stays became more frequent 2 care homes and a flat she became to hate. she just didn't want to be anywhere. Thank you for looking after her till the end.

I would whole heartedly recommend this care home . The staff are brilliant , they are all very tentative to mums needs as she has alseimers . The other residents are friendly and they all watch out for each other .

Mum has made lots of friends. The activities are catered for mums needs. Mum loves

dancing and there are regular musicians that come along to entertain the residents and mum always has a dance .

Drs are on hand as soon as needed . A weekly hairdresser and pamper session including nails and mum always looks presentable . The meals always look nice and the staff will always ensure there is something mum likes .

The home always smells fresh and clean and the rooftop garden is easily accessible to the residents from the lounge, which they can sit out in the garden when they like, sometimes for their meals .

When I was looking for a home for mum I wouldn't have gone into this home looking at it from the outside because of the area just step into it as its a little gem.

My mum has been staying at Castle Park since April and the care has been out standing. My mum was very upset when she first went in but the staff were so patient with her. We struggled to get her to eat and drink when she was at home but since being in the home she has even put on weight and has managed
to make a friend who she laughs with all day. They do lots of activities, I even participated in an exercise class with the residents. The staff are do pleasant and friendly and always happy to help.

Very welcoming home. My mum was a resident here and we always knew she was well looked after. The regular updates of photos and videos were very welcoming and put our minds at ease. The home is always clean and tidy. My friend now goes to Woodlands for respite when I'm away on holiday, I can totally
relax when I'm away knowing that he's well cared for.

Dad was fortunate enough to have respite care at Woodlands a year ago and we were all so grateful and delighted when we found out that he could stay permanently. The change in Dad has been remarkable; from someone who didn't eat properly and didn't socialise, he is so content, eating well and enjoying
the social elements. He remains a challenge! But, that's Dad and the manager and her amazing team work with him well to maintain as much independence as possible and my brother and I will be forever grateful to you all. Thank you xxx

My mum was admitted to Harewood Court a few months ago from London and all I can say is that they have been absolutely amazing. The care and attention they give my mum is above and beyond and I feel so happy with the care she is being provided. She has settled in really well and every member of staff
are so welcoming to me every time I visit her. I have developed a good bond with every member of staff on the dementia floor. The manager has been dealing with getting more support with my mum as her condition is deteriorating however she has been so consistent with this and is doing everything she can to get the extra support my mum needs. Harewood Court is an amazing care home and I do really recommend if you have a family member or loved one who needs care they are a home you should really consider.
Reply from Patricia Simpson, Clinical Lead Manager at Harewood Court Nursing Home & Specialist Dementia UnitThank you so much, your kind words are appreciated. I have passed your feedback onto the team at Harewood Court, it is our pleasure to look after your mum. We are aware this is a difficult time for you and your family and we will continue to strive to provide your mum with the best possible care.
