My lovely mum came to stay for respite after my dad sadly passed in April. She has dementia so couldn't live on her own, but I felt so guilty for putting her in 'care', so I agreed to a month or two of respite to see how she did. Honestly, everyone at Signature at Bagshot has been amazing. I can't name
everyone, but every single person has been brilliant. My mum looks ten years younger, which isn't bad as she's 96! She gets involved in things and has settled in really well (she still says she's going 'home' but then says she'd be happy staying, so I tell her she can, and she's delighted!). She has now moved to a permanent resident in 'reminiscence', and I love seeing her pop up on the Facebook pages playing bingo, gardening, singing and all sorts. As you can imagine, it's not cheap, but it is so worth it. I'm looking forward to the Jubilee Garden Party on the 1st of June!

This was Mum's first experience of respite care since moving in to live with me and my family, so obviously, I was a little nervous, however, what a fabulous experience she had.
All staff were friendly and extremely pleasant. I knew I had made the right choice after my initial visit. Two members of
staff were warm and welcoming, along with the reception staff and carers.
I was kept informed about Mum's stay via email, which was extremely helpful.
They are a great team and encouraged Mum to go on outings and enjoy the many activities that they offer.
Such a beautiful environment on offer on all floors of the accommodation within the community.
Cannot thank everybody enough and would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking about respite care for their loved one.

My aunt moved into Signature at Bagshot when managing by herself at home became difficult. The staff are all very professional and friendly. They made every effort to welcome my aunt into the community and made her stay very comfortable. Eventually, my aunt required nursing care and again the staff
were very attentive and also kept us informed of her progress. The facilities at Bagshot are excellent, as are the organised activities.

Dad has lived at Signature of Bagshot for five years and is very settled and comfortable there. The staff do a terrific job caring and supporting him, allowing him to remain as independent as possible and also treating him with dignity. Management and staff respond quickly to any questions and take
great pride in all that they do. We are so pleased we chose Signature of Bagshot and would certainly recommend it.

My father-in-law has now been a resident at the Sunrise Care home in Bagshot, Surrey for the past 8 months; our best decision. Sadly, his life during this period has been tumultuous – firstly, his wife sadly passed away and secondly, his own health has deteriorated.

With his health deteriorating,

it is with a huge thanks to the entire team at Sunrise that he wishes to continue with life. My father-in-law suffers from deep depression and often wishes to be with his wife, but the nursing team understand his challenging behaviour and respond perfectly to his needs.

The management team are outstanding, particularly the general manager and deputy manager, both of whom I have regular contact and communication. I have always believed that excellent communication and prompt response is the key to success; something that I believe at which Sunrise management excels.

A huge thank you to the entire management and staff at Sunrise Bagshot; we would highly recommend them.

I had a stay in Sunrise recently for some respite care and want to say what a wonderful experience it was. Without exception, the staff were dedicated, friendly and extremely thoughtful and kind, in fact, nothing was too much trouble for them. At the end of my stay, I felt a hundred times better and
was able to return to my normal life. I would not hesitate to return for further respite care if my circumstances were to recur. Thank you, Sunrise.

Where to start?
My mum was in Sunrise for years. Initially, she was unlikely to live for more than a couple of months. Their care, attention, and love brought her around and made her life worthwhile.
The staff cared. It was obvious for all to see. It wasn't a job for them, more a vocation.
Special
praise for the ladies who managed to find the time to attend the funeral. However, I could name each and every one of the staff who helped care for my mum. I won't because I'd miss one out and regret it!
The home isn't inexpensive but does represent full value for money.

We cannot recommend Sunrise. Our parents lived there for two and a half years. We had to employ an outside care agency as an additional expense to enable our Mum to remain active and when Sunrise insisted upon "one to one" care within the home on several occasions we were charged at an eye-watering
rate! We had many concerns over the care of both parents and had several meetings with the Management there and were not satisfied with the outcome. It is not appropriate to list all the issues we had, suffice to say that having moved our Mum to a new home, the difference in attitude and understanding there has been remarkable.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
The person whom I had Power Of Attorney for the funeral was today. One of the staff read the Eulogy on my behalf as I live in Spain and obviously could not attend. Throughout my friends stay at Sunrise, she was treated with the utmost respect, although unfortunately, sometimes a somewhat difficult resident
as she had Dementia. During this past year of lockdown, the staff have been consistently vigilant on keeping within the strict guidelines that have been imposed on them and managed to keep the residents extremely safe whilst still entertaining them as best they could. I would always get an email updating me of any event that I should know about with regards to her well-being.
All in all, I would have no hesitation in recommending Sunrise to anybody. The staff go well beyond their job description at all times.

My father, who has Alzheimer’s, had to go to the hospital for surgery, we have been increasingly concerned about his deteriorating condition. Due to Covid, he hadn’t really been seen by any experts or assessors. The discharge team, thankfully, said he could not return home and were going to find him
a place “anywhere in the county” for up to 6-weeks so he could be assessed. He was so disoriented we didn’t want him to go somewhere and then be moved again. Luckily, my brother who lives near had looked at Sunrise prior to Covid, and we decided it made sense for Dad to go there. The staff at Sunrise could not have been more helpful. They have been professional yet friendly, informative, answered my many questions and reassured me as it’s been a sudden and very difficult thing to orchestrate, especially due to the current restrictions. Nothing has been too much trouble. It’s been tremendous to know he is safe and cared for properly. Thank you, Sunrise - first class

My wife is now in her 4th year in reminiscence at Sunrise Bagshot. The last 12-months have been particularly difficult for her as her Alzheimer's illness progresses. Covid restrictions have made life especially difficult for her. But the Sunrise team have risen to the challenge, and through hard work
and good management have remained ahead of the Covid curve. They communicate well and have worked really hard to allow safe visiting whenever possible. Despite all the sadness, it is immensely reassuring to know that my wife is in such good and caring hands. Thank you, to the manager and your Sunrise team.

Sunrise has been an absolute Godsend for my Aunt. I am her PoA and was watching her sink into a deep depression when living in her own bungalow, with family not close enough to give her the attention she needed. Having known Sunrise from someone we know having been a resident on the dementia floor,
we knew it was what she should be spending her small fortune on. She was reluctant at first but after meeting 2 of your staff she went in for the two-week respite. Once in, she began to climb out of this deep depression faster than anyone could imagine possible. Within the week she wanted to stay and now she has her own furniture and valuables with her she is a new woman! We commend Sunrise for anyone who can afford it. She is joining in activities, getting to know everyone and loves the staff. Sadly we will not be able to afford it but otherwise, I would definitely look for my wife and I to join. Our thanks for making our lives so much easier and for giving her the will to live.

My mum is very comfortable at Sunrise Bagshot, she is very well cared for, has a lovely room and is in beautiful surroundings. She visited a few times before she became part of the community with a friend and they were both very impressed. Before lockdown she really enjoyed the minibus outings, visits
from entertainers and pet therapy. She enjoyed singing along and doing a bit of gardening. The carers in Reminiscence and some of the other staff that visit to talk to residents are exceptional: calm, patient and very kind. The lockdown, although residents kept very safe, has certainly taken its toll, and I'm sure they will really appreciate the return of visits, entertainment and activities. As a minor niggle, I would appreciate more information about how my mum is doing (especially when you aren't able to visit). Although whenever I have emailed, I get a very quick response. We did appreciate the general weekly newsletters during this time though.

My Granddad has been in Bagshot for almost a year and it's been hard not to be able to see him as often as I used to.
The staff have been amazing at keeping in contact. I've managed to speak on him on the tablet, we get weekly newsletters which let us know all of the up to date information and what
has been happening within the home and we tried to give him a mobile but it was easier to talk on the phone and the tablet. It's great to see they are still doing activities even if we can't go in and share it with him.
I can't wait to take my children in again soon to see him. Thank you for keeping my Granddad safe.

If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 99 registered maximum number of service users is 19.8, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1

Job Title: Dining Services Co-ordinator Joined: 2011

My name is Tiina. Yes, spelt with two I's, I am Finnish. I moved to England in May 2002 to continue my management placement in catering. I loved it so much I decided to stay. I joined in 2011, the same as Tracey, since the day it opened. I look after all resident's dietary needs, their nutrition their hydration, their intolerances, their allergies, and most importantly their likes and dislikes. Not everyone is a fan of everything and it's important to me that everyone gets something they like. I especially enjoy making special cakes for birthdays and anniversaries. Did you know I have made over 10 100th birthday cakes! Food is such an important part of good living and I am so passionate about making sure the residents enjoy their meals. Feel free to ask me anything when you visit. I am always happy to help.

Job Title: Head of Housekeeping Joined: 2011

I am the head of housekeeping and have worked here since the day it opened back in 2011. Me and my team make sure your laundry is named, washed, ironed and returned to you without anything going missing. I have a pretty good track record here! We keep the community sparking clean and take a lot of pride in our work. The residents enjoy seeing us each day when we pop into their rooms to make sure everything is as it should be. It's an absolute pleasure to work here.

Job Title: Maintenance Operative Joined: 2011

I started in Care over 13 years ago coming from a finance background, so it was quite different, but something I felt I’d like to do after helping care for family. I started as a Carer on Reminiscence which I really enjoyed and later went on to driving their minibus and taking them out on little adventures. Last year, after driving for many years and in different communities, I decided to settle down and just stay at Bagshot, helping with Maintenance a couple of days a week. In November I handed over the reins as Minibus Driver to my colleague, Cherrie, (I knew the residents would be in safe hands) and became a full-time Maintenance Operative. You will now find me walking down the corridors with paint on my shoes and sawdust on my trousers. I enjoy my new role very much, ensuring the residents’ have nice rooms to live in and everything is working as it should be. I’m very much looking forward to the Summer where hopefully we can get the residents involved in some DIY, if they want to of course.

Outside of work, I love walking driving, and exploring new places.

Job Title: Dementia Care Manager Joined: 2021

It is such a great honour to be working at Bagshot Gardens.

Having joined the team in 2021, I must say it has been one of the best decisions! My career in care started as a care assistant, then worked my way through to become a deputy manager in one of the residential homes in Hampshire before joining. I like to believe that my commitment and passion for delivering quality care to the residents is one of the many highlights here at Bagshot.
