Heatherdene Nursing Home is a large Edwardian house located in a quiet residential area of Bexhill-on-Sea on the South Coast.

24-hour care services are offered for all residents. All staff have regular in-house training, NVQ training and attend courses relevant to care of the elderly.

Heatherdene has 27 spacious rooms with a passenger lift. 23 rooms are ensuite (4 rooms with no ensuite). Heatherdene has one dining area, two lounges and an accessible garden. The garden is well maintained with lawn and flowers and a patio area.

The home's catering staff use local produce. There are weekly deliveries of fresh food by the local butcher/greengrocer.

The company believes everyone is entitled to privacy, dignity and respect and staff are made aware that the needs of the residents are paramount.

Visitors are welcome at any time.

Fees are based on the bedroom of your choice.

Heatherdene is a lovely nursing home. The staff are kind and patient and the rooms are spotless.
It would be lovely if there were a greater variety of activities to keep the residents occupied.

My mother was a resident at Heatherdene for the past 2 years until she passed away, she suffered from a severe disability and mild dementia she was largely bed-bound and required full care.
In every way, the home has been exemplary. The staff were always professional, welcoming with a warm smile and
willing to have a quick chat if required, they looked after us almost as much as they looked after Mum. We were always informed of any changes in Mum's condition or management.
My mum's room was always fresh, clean and tidy, as was my mum with her hair always clean and brushed, nails varnished.
I could tell that Mum had been involved in many of the activities in the home - even bed-bound as she was. She was even given a small computer tablet to hear the bingo numbers when they played!
I can not praise Heatherdene enough for everything they did for my mum.

The staff were all very experienced and a pleasure to talk to. Everything they carried out was clearly to the highest standard. The room was cleaned daily and any requests were attended to quickly. The service they gave 24/7 and at no time was it ever a problem.
I would not hesitate to recommend Heatherdene

From the first visit and meeting the team we loved Heatherdene. Having viewed many homes in the area and needing to find a place for both my mum and dad with very different needs, Heatherdene was the obvious choice. The home itself is welcoming, warm, clean and cosy (walking in feels homely and safe),
the staff are experienced, qualified, and so helpful and friendly. My parents' rooms are lovely, the food options are great, there are daily activities and everyone goes the extra mile. Communication with the whole team is accessible and easy and after many sleepless nights whilst my mum was in temporary respite care in a different home, I now feel relaxed and confident that my parents are being well looked after and are safe and cared for with all the relevant nursing and personal care in place and visiting is a pleasure. I highly recommend Heatherdene and thanks again to all the team!

Excellent care and support from day one.
I cannot fault Heatherdene Nursing Home in any way.
Staff loving and friendly and not just to the residents but to family and friends too. Rooms are lovely and clean. Loads of activities and entertainment most days.
Food fantastic... for any needs required.

I would happily recommend Heatherdene Nursing Home as the staff are friendly, caring and considerate. The food is varied and they can accommodate personal preferences. Communication between the staff and family has been great and we have always felt welcomed. Excellent service all round. Thank you.

Our dear friend was admitted to Heatherdene Nursing Home with a terminal illness. His care and well-being were exemplary, and nothing was too much for the staff. Who were always happy, friendly and patient. The rooms were spacious and clean. The food menu was nicely varied and wholesome, and very tasty
according to our friend.
We would not hesitate to recommend Heatherdene Nursing Home, first class.

When a loved on has to go into a nursing home, the biggest worry for the family is will they be treated kindly, with care and with dignity. At Heatherdene Nursing Home we had no worries at all about any of those issues. The care and kindness that my husband received were second to none and were a source
of great comfort to all the family. Thank you, everyone, you made my husband's last few months so easy for him and he always seemed happy and content.

Rather difficult for me to asses as we visit individually approx six weekly. She is regularly confused, so we are not sure how good the food is, etc (and haven't seen it), but we take her overall appearance as a sign that she is cared for well.
We are not involved in the financial side of things either.

Mum's stay was for respite care following a fall at home by her husband, which meant he was unable to provide his normal care as Mum is disabled and wheelchair-bound.
From the moment of initial contact with management, the respite was organised very efficiently. Mum is not the easiest of patients
but was made to feel part of what appears to be a large, happy family atmosphere. Would definitely recommend Heatherdene to anyone needing care.

My mother spent the last 4.5 years of her life in Heatherdene Nursing Home, during which time she was extremely well looked after. Pre-Covid when we could just pop in anytime, she was always clean, tidy and comfortable. The whole service was excellent, but I would like to say that the care that she
received was very genuine from all members of staff. She could be difficult at times but this was always dealt with with patience, kindness and a caring manner.

My father was treated with complete respect at all times. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food looked amazing and we were always offered tea, coffee and biscuits when visiting. I would highly recommend Heatherdene Nursing Home to anyone who cares about their loved ones.

The medical care and dignity afforded to my mother during the last month of her life was brilliant. The home is clean and well cared for, as are the residents. The food is varied and tailored to individual needs and the activities are well designed to appeal to all residents. Information on the well

Before I visited the home and spoke to the manager I was anxious about how my husband would cope with being away from home for ten days of respite care. But I needn't have worried. Right from the start he was made to feel welcome and comfortable and he was very impressed with the meals - he gave full
marks to the chef and kitchen staff. I was impressed by the atmosphere in the home which was warm and welcoming.
All his needs were met with professionalism, and kindness by the staff, especially the nurses.
Heatherdene is extremely well run and the manager is to be commended for the caring and efficient way in which she manages the home.
Although looking forward to coming home my husband told me he felt sad to be leaving and would be happy to return to Heatherdene for any future respite stays.

I've been in the care sector for over 25 years, initially qualifying as a Cardiac Theatre Nurse in 1994. I joined the Southcare Group in 2002, progressing from a Registered Nurse (RGN) to the Registered Manager of Heatherdene Nursing Home in 2014. I always put the needs of others before my own and strive to make sure residents, staff and their families are all happy. I am passionate about my home, Heatherdene, and leading the way in inter-generational partnerships to improve the lives of our residents and everyone involved.
