I cannot thank the manager and all the staff at Heatherdene Nursing Home enough for the care and support they gave to my mum during her time there, especially during her last few days. Having lived there for over eight years there had been changes but the same excellent service was always there. Nothing was too much, I was always kept advised on changing circumstances which was very much appreciated. Despite her dementia, I know she really did appreciate all their help although sometimes did not show it. Its been a hard year for you all and you have done so well, take care and stay safe.

Thank you for your kind words and all your support over the past 8 years, it is much appreciated. Your mum is very much missed - she was a big part of all of our lives at Heatherdene.

Hard to write as I was unable to visit my friend due to my age and the distance. Much impressed by the receptionist during conversations on the telephone. My ratings are therefore only my gut feeling.

Heatherdene Nursing Home is supporting my friend with dignity, care and consideration. My friend has been a service user since January 2020.
Lockdown has been extremely difficult for us all, however being able to chat to my friend via Skype has been helpful.

My friend has told me that the carers who look after her are very nice. My friend is calm and relaxed. I could not ask for more as I would be unable to offer her this level of care and support.

Reply from Beena George, Registered Nursing Care Home Manager at Heatherdene Nursing Home

Thank you for the lovely words. Lockdown has been hard on all of us, but it's been a real privilege to care for your friend and to be able to help all of our residents reach out and keep in touch with their loved ones virtually. Thank you for sharing your thoughts we shall let our carers know. You have given all of us here at Heatherdene a boost to keep going. Thank you.

My niece and myself looked at a lot of homes before we decided on Heatherdene.
We immediately felt the warmth and patience from the Manager and staff there.
When you walk in it feels like a family home, smells and looks very clean.
The Manager and staff have been so kind to my sister, who gets very upset and frustrated at not being able to walk, talk and move her right arm, following a massive stroke.

We really believe we have done our best for my sister by placing her in this small and personal nursing home.

My husband has been here for a few weeks and I’m very happy with his care, his room, the food and drink provided. The manager is superb, efficient, kind and very hands-on. This is so important. She also has a very good relationship with the staff. My husband is toileted often and kept clean and presentable. His room is kept clean and presentable. If I have any questions or queries, they are dealt with speedily. All in all, I’m very, very happy.

My aunt has been in Heatherdene for three and a half years until she passed away this month. The care and attention of all the staff has been wonderful throughout her time there, and in her last few days, I cannot fault the care and attention they gave her.

She regarded all the staff and carers as friends, but they also retained their professionalism at all times.

Heatherdene has been fantastic in all they've done for my mother over the past few months. The staff are without exception, brilliant, and seem to really care about the residents doing everything possible to make them comfortable and happy. As visitors, my father and I were made to feel very welcome and it really felt more like walking into a big family home than a nursing home. The manager and her team are wonderful and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Heatherdene.

I and my family really appreciated the care and attention that our relative was given during the last few weeks of her life at Heatherdene. Although she was not there for very long before she died, we know that she was happy during her stay. Throughout her time at Heatherdene, she was treated with dignity, compassion and understanding. She genuinely liked the staff and appreciated the help and care they gave her.

We were very pleased to be able to secure my mother’s transfer from hospital to the Heatherdene Nursing Home for the last few days of her life. All the staff were caring and sympathetic and gave Mum every support possible during that time. The room was clean and comfortable and had a lovely view over the garden, which Mum -a keen gardener - much appreciated. The open visiting hours and the privacy of a private room meant that it was possible for members of the family to visit and sit with Mum whenever best suited them. The care provided was of an excellent standard. The staff had time to sit with Mum and encourage her to eat and drink, and they ensured that her final days were comfortable and pain-free. Mum was not in a position to take advantage of the activities and wider facilities, eg the lounge and library, but they seemed very comfortable and welcoming.

Although I seem to have been consistent with giving an overall excellent rating I would just like to say that on behalf of my family, I cannot praise and appreciate enough the care that my father has received during his long stay (approx. 5 years) and we would certainly have no hesitation in recommending this Home.

Our whole family are so grateful for the excellent care our mum received during the time she was at Heatherdene. Mum went into hospital for a short while and then returned for end of life care, until her death. Every single member of staff we encountered was lovely and dedicated to making Mum's life peaceful until the end. Thank you. The cleanliness was outstanding.
